    A lot of people got upset at me calling myself a "Saberspark knockoff." I appreciate people defending me but just to be clear, no one has actually ever said this nor do I actually think it. Every once in a while I try to find fun ways to shout out other RUclips reviewers and self deprecation is an easy enough joke. This joke went through several takes where I called myself a knockoff of someone including The Mysterious Mr. Enter, Toonrific Tarique and Johnny2Cellos. I landed on Saber because I felt it had been a while since I referenced him.

      If you do wish to prepare and stock up on food that will actually last because to tell the truth canning food can only last a max of 5 years if in a deep freezer and that is if you use non rusting metal cans and use a full sealing system that welds them closed. Regular glass jars only has a life span of 3 months to 2 years max and that is if stored in a deep freezer and even then has a 30% probability of turning to poison after 3 weeks. Frozen food has a longer life span than precooked jar food because its factory sealed. Glass jars are absolute trash. Now if you want food that will last well Ramen can last you up to about 10 years max but has a life span of 1 to 5 years but can last 10 to 15 years max but less than 2% will last that long. beans that are dried have a life span of 40 to 80 years and potentially 100 years but they do have a 98% probability of suffering from what is called fogging after about 20 years which actually turns them to poison so its not 100% recommended but they are better for the long run. Dried split peas have a life span of 30 to 100 years and are technically a fully meal especially if you add a bit of meat in which small animals can easily be added to them but you do need water to cook them which would be harder to get. In reality you should stock up on distilled water which lasts longer and can last a good 10 years longer than regular water. In truth no food lasts really that long and if something happens then everyone is screwed because society is so reliant upon modern technologies that in reality 99% of the human race can not last 6 months do to the fact of how reliant we are on modern technology. If technology shuts down water will be the first thing required and that is for everything especially because the body requires water constantly and without water the human body will die at max of 3 days and if technology shut off then the water will stop flowing and grocery stores will run out in seconds and in reality 99% of all cities in the world are not close to a water source that is drinkable but in water sources that are drinkable they are filled with viruses and bacteria that would kill people. The water that comes from your tap is so filtered that you would be horrified at how much it takes to clean the water to make it actually drinkable. The mountain spring bullshit yea most water is so filtered to remove the piss and crack and bugs and viruses and bacteria and plants and dirt and grime and everything out of the water to make it actually drinkable. Hell if you drink water from the Mississippi river you can die from about 5554356354365 different plagues, viruses and bacteria to far fucking more than that random bullet number I typed up. If technology goes out at most 250 gallons of water would last you at max 3 weeks to as little as a week. In reality water goes fast and if you have a family you are fucked without water. Water is so valuable and takes so much time and energy and has so much stuff to go threw the process of making it consumable for humans that if water shuts down all stored water will go bad and even if you stock up you will run out. Hell a bowl of oatmeal takes about 20 ounces to make. A bowl of ramen takes up to 40 ounces of water and that is in a small pot to cook. There are 128 ounces in a gallon. A pot of 2 bags of split pea soup take 260 ounces at least which is 2 gallons. It takes 4 cups of water to make 1 pound of rice. There are 16 cups of water in a gallon. A small bag of rice is 1 pound. The regular size bag of rice is 2 pounds. 2 regular sized bags of rice takes 1 gallon of water to cook. It actually states on the rice bag that you should use 16 cups to 20 cups of water for a single 2 regular sized bags pf rice. There are 16 cups in a gallon. That means if you use the max amount of water that is 1.25 gallons of water to make a single bag of rice. Yea water will be gone fast. In reality if society collapses you wont need to worry about trying to survive because you wont survive because no one will. Water will go away and everyone will die within in reality less 6 months because water is not that drinkable to humans unless processed. Distilled water may last a longer time but you will still run out of it within days. Cooking and drinking will use of all your water in less than a week. If you try and ration it the water still won't last.

When a tornado blew through our area I didn't wonder if we were going to be able to eat dinner, just if it would taste good. Y'know, I've got one thing I find funny/ironic about this... Hamsters and gerbils being compatible despite having issues with one of the two happens with certain fish species as well. Koi and goldfish *are* compatible, but their children are completely sterile. Mollies and guppies, two live-bearing species in the same family, are also compatible, but it has to be a male guppy to a female molly (for obvious reasons). Not sure if their children are sterile or not though.

    • @miguelruiz4613
      @miguelruiz4613 Год назад

      Molly guppy hybrids are sterile

    • @rollanddev
      @rollanddev Год назад

      Genetic compatibility goes much further than that; there's a number of trippy hybrid animals out there (sometimes called "chimeras"). Check out geeps, ligers and zonkeys, just to name a few. Or if you really wanna go down the mad science route, look into humanzees...
      Much of it boils down to the genetics of these species being similar enough on a chromosomal level for fertilization to occur. Interestingly enough, in many cases, the "best of both worlds" comes up. In some, well, fertility and health issues come up. As long as two animals are in the same rough family though (canines, large cats, horse/zebra/donkey/mule, etc.) there's likely to be a way to cross-breed them successfully.
      Kinda makes you wonder if nature doesn't intend for all species to genetically combine into some super-species that has all the powers, none the weaknesses somewhere down the road (possibly a-la giant anime super-robot or something).

    Was eight years old at the time, kinda knew it wasn't gonna happen, but was still waiting for midnight.
    There was a Family Guy rerun in syndication on a local TV channel as the clock struck midnight (it actually may have been the Y2K nuclear holocaust episode), and I was thinking to myself, "You Mayan dicks! You promised me something and didn't deliver!"

    I remember the Y2K stuff too. I had just turned 23 in 1999. My own perspective on it was that it was blowing up a potential problem in to what it wasn't = stirring up mass hysteria. I had an aunt that was petrified of it, and we talked about it, she asked me if I thought she was stupid buying so much stuff to prep.
    I was honest and told her something similar to what you said about how it is always a good idea to keep emergency supplies around just in case, because the worst disasters are not the ones getting all the media airplay, as they are, like you said, the ones that come out of nowhere, like the Loma Prieta Earthquake we had here in the Bay Area back in 1989.
    And, BTW, we survived that.
    My view on it wasn't so much that the government would take care of it, but my faith was more in the private sector which had too much to lose if the whole grid went down. Even if you ignore all the other nonsense people were talking about like planes dropping out of the sky, and nuclear weapons launching themselves.
    The truth is that the Y2K issue was being addressed as early as 1997.
    Now, what pissed me off most was the panic, and how many people bought in to it. So much so, that normally packed places on NYE, like Times Square, were at less than half capacity. And what Hank said about the year 2000 happening only once, and us being lucky enough to witness it was spot on.
    And how many people missed out on it because of media fearmongering is unforgivable. Now, the ending of this episode with the bonfire bothered me, especially with all the waste. Especially when the grandfather clock gets thrown in to the fire.
    I get the symbolism, but personally, I really love antiques, and would love to have a grandfather clock like that. If someone gave me one as a gift, I would be so stoked.

    Shady, in season 8 episode 12 is titled Phish and Wildlife. It's one of those attempts at Hank and Bobby bonding while also teaching him how to be self sufficient. Of you get the chance it might be a good one to tackle. It has this weird subplot with Bill that's good for a laugh too.
    Also that one where Bobby gets gout and almost misses a big school dance with Connie.
