    I think Peggy's underreaction is because, deep down, she knows Hank would never be unfaithful to her. Her anger about kissing that girl 20 years ago was due to it ruining her romantic story of her and Hank, because she was still angry when she found out Hank didn't kiss her intentionally. It's similar to Hank's anger at Peggy for not being a virgin before they married.

      I know this is old, but also to add onto your points, Peggy knows she can trust Hank to be honest with what he does come forward with. While he will willingly keep some details to himself, everyone who knows Hank knows that if he says something verbatim, you can depend on him being completely honest about what he DOES tell you.

    This really was KotH's own 'Who Shot Mr. Burns' moment (literally) and was a nice two parter. As for the Texas Ranger, the whole joke was that Peggy thought he was James Trivet from Walker Texas Ranger, another Ranger who was Walker's best friend and they essentially were a duo. (Which was why she made the comment about 'loving Walker'.)
    I did like the joke at the end were Bobby 'punishes' Hank for smoking pot because at first you can tell that Hank was only trying to play to Bobby's idea but he was REALLY upset at the thought of not being able to mow the grass and Bobby threatening to add another week was a cherry on top. It's a dumb but wholesome moment.

      Well to tell you the truth, that's not all that bad. Almost all adult animation that's not anime tends to be comedies.
      Meanwhile, children's animation has a wide range of genres besides comedy including action, drama, science fiction, educational, and even horror.
      Yes, adult animation can be any of those things too, but it's usually a co-genre with comedy. Rick & Morty and Futurama for instance are both sci-fi cartoons, but they're also comedies. Bojack Horseman is a drama, but also a comedy. Now obviously, there's nothing wrong with comedy, but cartoons that are meant to be taken seriously are a thing. Adult animation in countries besides Japan can try it for once.

    I think Hank getting addicted to smoking again makes sense in context since the normal stress he deals with is caused by stupidity which we know causes him to get angry. But in these episodes, he is dealing with stress due to sexual advancements and claims against him that are sexual, something we know he can't properly deal with or handle and is more likely to repress than to express with something like anger. So then it makes sense that he goes to smoking to deal with the stress that he is trying to get away from and prevent being known about, even if being open about it would help him escape from it.

    I think the reason Peggy is so chill with hank lying to her is she *knows* hank would never cheat on her, But also knows he is covering something up. I think it is In character for her to 1. believe hank is faithful. 2. think he also might have killed Debbie and wants to know for sure. Without incriminating him. I think this is where her loyalty to hank plays a role.

    • @conversationtosaurusrex
      @conversationtosaurusrex 2 года назад +7

      Thats true. I think the biggest reason for Peggys behavior in the difference between Hank hiding the details of the kiss with that random girl 20+ years ago, vs the Miss Liz situation is that. The Dinner situation was considered to be the story of how Hank and Peggy's relationship was solidified, telling the story of Hank asking for a Dinner Date with Peggy on Valentines day of which she spends the day cooking, only for him to not show up. Then the romantic gesture is that, he calls claiming he "Injured" his back and he apologizes and they flirt in their own way. So it was seen as a romantic story to Peggy. Then later the Truth is revealed that Hank had Mono from a random girl kissing Hank.
      It hurt Peggy because Hank hid the truth for over 20 years; and the story was seen as one of the contributing factors to their relationships success. Peggy and Hank had been dating for 6 months to that point, so Hank was still obligated to tell Peggy but he lied about the truth. Fact he lied twice. The First time was the original claim that he injured his back, then when Mono is revealed; he lied saying he got Mono from sharing a drink with someone on the Football team.
      The Debby and Miss Liz sitation is different since Hank was simply hiding the events that unfolded, from Peggy. While It does look suspicious for hank not to tell Peggy that two women tried to have sex with him. Peggy wasn't concerned with Hanks loyalty, as she was more concerned with the prospect of Hank being a killer. But Peggy didn't want to believe Hank had killed Debby; as Peggy wanted to be loyal and trusting to Hank.

    The walking around with a shotgun in a convenience store, accepting an arrest/law as being right regardless of context, death penalty, Texas Rangers… This episode screamed Texas lol. Great analysis as always. The soup thing was weird to me, too.
    Edit: I forgot how much I loved the line you didn’t include from Hank’s phone call with Debbie… ‘Oh God, I just had phone sex’ 😂🤣

    If my boss framed me for murder, all without even an ounce of remorse...That table and him would be going through the wall
