  • I take you though one of my latest illustrations, Woodland Youth VII and the process behind the scenes from start to finish! I almost gave up on this piece halfway through as I wasn't digging the overall composition but powdered graphite came to save the day! It's an extremely messy medium to work with and you can see how it can drastically change the mood of the piece!
I'm looking to have more timelapse recordings but I wasn't satisfied with the quality as I'm looking to have little to no blur, white balance issues, and ISO. Thankfully after this one, I took more time to learn about setups through camera work and I may have figured it out! So look forward to some future drawings captured in a higher quality moving forward!

I am so happy you went with the powdered graphite, it really gave the kick it needed, and honestly it's kinda making me want to try it and go back to pencil drawings! I don't do it as much as I'd like to beign a digital artist, but I now I cannot wait to grab my pencils and sketch something!
    Thanks!

Thank you for this! Especially for your honesty on the struggles you have. That really helps me because just today I thought „shouldn’t I do better without a reference if I call myself an illustrator?“
Besides that I really like the way you speak. Will be happy to see more of these videos in the future!

Honestly great tips. Watching someone work through these problems and reason through them helped my mindset.
I used to be 90% a graphite artist. With the same kind of soft realism. Now I avoid it because at least for me the contrast is “too” intense white paper/dark (and shiny graphite) but I think I’ll try it again.. I miss how plastic and erasable it is compared to other illustration tool(colerase ugh)
Did you mention the paper type?
Awesome and helpful video! Thank you!

Hey Vonnart, do you use models? How long have you been studying art/drawing? I've been drawing off and on for about 15 months, self-taught. I have found that in my art journey, the more I draw, the faster I get better at drawing, and I am making progress. Some of my favorite channels are How to Draw Like a Sir and New Masters Academy. Love your work.
