Classic car nut! That’s me! I’m about to have a field day with this one.
Arcee- I think her 50’s car alt-mode from Earthspark is absolutely perfect, just make it a 1957 Chevy Bel-Air with the fins and we’re golden. However, IDW did give her an 80’s Earth mode in the 1983 Ford Mustang.
But 50’s cars aren’t muscle cars. Don’t know why the hell she keeps getting marketed as such.
Chromia- Fun fact, what could be considered the first SUV was released in 1980: The AMC Eagle. Not low to the ground, but much more fitting of the shape than a standard Chevy.
Firestar- I was thinking of just a retool of the Mitsubishi Fuso (Grapple/Inferno) but the Dodge Rampage is friggin GENIUS.
Moonracer- If you want an eye-catching feminine (and mint green) vintage car, then you need to see the Lincoln Futura. Absolutely stunning. But the first thing I thought of when I saw her cartoon alt-mode was the Aston-Martin Lagonda. That thing is whack.
What do you mean no Le Mans representation? We got G1 Backstreet, PotP Jazz, and a bunch of G1.5 dudes + micromasters I forgot the name of.
Lancer- 1985 Mitsubishi Lancer. I have no clue how that wasn’t the first thing that came up while researching this.
Greenlight- You think of standard street lights, I think of the light tree on a drag strip. We need something family-friendly looking that can tear up the drag strip. We need- oh wait your choice is great. You used the wrong formula and got the right answer.
    Except that’s G1 Searchlight’s alt-mode.
Elita-1- Nah I gotta disagree with you on this I’m glad that Mercedes never made it to the dealerships. Yuck.
Anyways, I kinda like what Earthspark went for, something like the Lamborghini LM002. So many other 84/85 bots were Lambos, this makes perfect sense. And she’s the leader so you need something big and commanding.
Beta- Ok I was wondering if it was just gonna be cars all the way. And yes, there’s no more iconic 80’s motorbike I would go with than that.
Paradron/Lifeline- Ford Pinto. There it is, officer. The vehicle that caused the accident.
But the rescue boat is real clever. We need more boat transformers. I want an Alana toy, dang it.
AND THIS IS TO GO EVEN FURTHER BEYOND
    Jumpstream- Lamborghini Countach
    Dust Up- Lamborghini Miura
Override- Ok _now_ you can have a Le Mans car.
Velocity- IDW gave us the Pontiac Firebird.
Javelin- AMC Javelin for the name but I think the Buick Grand National is so much more fitting.

I looked up pictures of those suggestions, and DAMN, those look like the perfect kind of vehicles Transformers could use as inspiration! Y'know, assuming they actually made new designs based on real cars anymore.
And I looked up "Le Mans". And when I saw it. It was a 2023 picture of some track-based racer, but the moment I saw it, I thought "Oh yeah, _that's_ Override".

  • @Alverant

For Firestar, I would go to the late 70s. There was a TV show called "Emergency!" (aka Emergency 51) which was a paramedic rescue show. One of the vehicles was a 1970 Dodge D300 truck modified to store equipment. I think would work well for Firestar given how she was partnered with Inferno for rescue missions.

Well, for Arcee, I've always thought that an original late 1960's Shelby Cobra roadster would have the perfect silhouette and proportions to complement her robot mode.
For Lancer... For some random reason, I feel that a Rolls-Royce Phantom would work. It'd definitely be a very distinct vehicle mode, given the lack of luxury car alt modes across the whole of the franchise.

For Elita-1 and Chromia, I would give them whatever alternate mode Optimus/Ironhide isn’t using in whatever series they’re in.
So for Elita, if Optimus is the flat-nosed cab, make her the long-nosed cab, and vice versa. This would make her a voyager in scale, which would be nice since she’s the only Leader in the Autobots ranks that’s usually below Voyager scale.
For Chromia, if Ironhide is the van, make her the truck. Ironhide’s Bay design is super cool, and could fit with her colors.
This way, Hasbro/Takara already has the engineering for toys and character designs , and it would make sense character-wise.

I’ve had some of my own ideas for Earth Alt modes a few of these ladies in the past, mainly a Pick-Up Truck fro Chromia and something like a Scooter or Moped for Moonracer, but you just opened my mind to a huge variety of Alt Modes just by having the limitation of being vehicles from the 80s! This was so cool!!!

12:52 Sorry to 'uhm, ackthshually!' That isn't a Ferrari, it's a Ford RS200. A Group B rally car, or rather one of 200 road going examples mandated by the FIA for a model to enter the then highly popular Group B rally events. It's the result of a process called 'homologation' and it's how some of the most interesting cars ever were produced.
Other than that, this is a pretty well researched list. I like the choices.
Firestar took me by surprise, though. That is a pretty obscure car of its type.

  • @OptimusPhillip
    @OptimusPhillip Год назад +9

Good video all around. A couple points I would like to raise.
Firestar feels more like a flatbed truck to me than a pickup. That might have been more difficult to keep with the curvy front end, though.
We actually do have a Dome Zero Transformer, albeit modified somewhat. Classics '06 Rodimus is basically a Dome Zero with a giant spoiler on the back.
I personally would've interpreted Greenlight as a reference to the starting light in a drag race. I'm not a drag racing guy, so I can't pick out any vehicles based on that, just sharing an alternative point of view.
While Corvettes don't seem to be among them, nontransporting EMS vehicles come in a surprising variety of styles, including motorcycles, depending on what region you're in. The color is still an issue, though.

Liked this video, but regarding the paradron medic, even though you are correct about no medical corvettes. In europe and other countries there are paramedic motorcycles and cars. The idea is not so they can carry the injured but so a paramedic can get their quickly to stablize the victim. Minerva's alt mode is based on this.

I would choose Jaguar E Type or Shelby Cobra for Arcee depending on wether the encenuate on the Elegance or the strength of the Character
Chromia would be a Toyota Hilux Surf or a F150
Firestar would be a Peterbilt Aero semi
Moonracer would probably be a Ford GT40 although your choice is also great
Lancer would be a Mitsubishi Lancer or a regular Lancia Stratos rally car
Greenlight would likely be a OV-10 Bronco or a Corvette
Elita-1 would be a Toyota FX-V, Honda HPX Or Nissan NX-21
Beta can probably become a T-38 Talon or a PBR Patrol boat
And Paradron Medic would be an Eastern German Barkas B1000 or Wartburg 353 Ambulance become at that time only DDR Seems to use green on Emergency vehicle or just go nuts and make her an Ambulance version of The Jaguar MK II

I would have just gone to a general idea, like how Optimus is _generally_ some kind of trailer hauler, how Bumblebee is _generally_ some small/sporty vehicle, how Starscream is _generally_ some form of jet. But the extra stipulation that it _must_ be something available for public purchase in 1985? That's interesting! So I'll type out my expectations, and my reactions to what TJ chose.
My Arcee - Looking at the alt mode picture that TJ chose, I get some Blurr vibes. She looks like she could be a very similar model of vehicle, but with a slightly different body design (curves and waves instead of straight edges). So I could _easily_ expect her to just be a remold of Blurr to add in those curves and an open top.
TJ's Arcee - Ooh~! I like that choice! That feels like what I was talkin' about! It's fast, but it's got the curves and open top unique to Arcee!
My Chromia - That vehicle mode? Mm...not diggin' it. But the best thing I can think of is to make her a mold-sister of Ironhide and Rachet, where she's got that similar van-like vehicle mode. Or a limo. Maybe a limo.
TJ's Chromia - Huh. That could work. It has similar lines to the animation design. Hood's a bit too far forward, though.
My Firestar - Hm...if her vehicle mode is a truck, then we could do something where she turns into the _cab_ of a truck, and the bed is some shield or "bunker" accessory.
TJ's Firestar - Wow. That vehicle he chose looks really similar! Even got the colors down!
My Moonracer - Jazz mold-sister. That's what I'm getting from that vehicle.
    TJ's Moonracer - OOH~!! Now _THAT_ looks like a Transformer's vehicle mode!
My Lancer - Honestly, the name does not invoke confidence (given that she was likely intended as a glorified background character, that makes sense). If we're giving this non-character a vehicle mode based on a retroactively applied name, I would choose something fast and sharp, like TJ suggests, but I'd pick something more in line with a motorcycle. Lancer, lance, jousting.
TJ's Lancer - I honestly get more Blurr vibes from that car than "Lancer" vibes. But I guess it could work, if we're trying to avoid copying other characters.
My Greenlight - The name immediately gives me drag racer vibes. IDKY, it just does. Like she's anticipating the countdown to the green light, ready to take off.
TJ's Greenlight - Not bad. If he was thinking town car, that's not a bad design to lean towards.
My Elita One - Okay. This is the leader of the Fembots, the lover of Optimus Prime. Because we don't have a good look at her vehicle mode, I'm gonna make something up. And I would say she needs to have some kind of grand design that can stand on par with Optimus. Not a hauler like Prime, but something that's equally as large. Maybe make _her_ the Winnebago, instead of Rodimus.
TJ's Elita One - ...........Impressive. Most impressive. Certainly a better idea than I had!
My Beta - Really? That's her name? Beta? That sounds like a freakin' placeholder for an actual name. .....ah, she's an early Transformer. If she's supposed to be the partner of Alpha Trion, then I can see why they named her "Beta". Even if it could have had more effort put into it than _just_ "Beta". ......the only vehicle mode I can find for Alpha Trion (from something that's _not_ a card game or a toyline) is from the 2005 IDW Continuity where he's this weird front-wheels-extended-and-exposed kind of buggy lookin' thing. So if that's not what Trion turns into in the original G1, make Beta turn into that.
TJ's Beta - Honestly, I'd swap this and Lancer's choice. The bike feels more "lancer" to me (Lancer, lance, jousting). The car TJ chose for Lancer looks like it'd fit Beta better (and it matches her colors!).
My Paradron Medic - She doesn't even have a proper name. Just a description. How do you come up with a vehicle for that??? Uh...maybe you make her an ambulance, but she _deploys_ from the kibble that makes up the bulk of the vehicle, and that kibble turns into a medical station? Kinda along the same vein as the _original_ Ratchet/Ironhide toy, but more fleshed out?
TJ's Paradron Medic - I mean, it's just as much of a stretch as what I thought up, so why not? Rescue Boat.

    Read the comments after commenting.
Chromia could be a military vehicle, an apc from the 80s also. Not a tank, a truck.
Paradron is definitely an 80s era ambulance.
    Make Beta the 57 Chevy.
Lancer as a Mitsubishi yes, but as the Starion. It really does look like her alt mode.
Yes, Arcee is a Corvette, and Hot Rod a Trans Am, but as visioned through a Dome and a let's see what cars are like in 2005, from 1985.
Always assumed even as a kid that HotRod was just a Trans Am. Even has the firebird on his chest. (His Rodimus mode says more Audio camper van than Winnebago, oh well).
The rest, all good. Needs a Testa Rosa in there.
Firestar is a paramedic truck with a workbay shell like in the 80s. Yes, similar to already existing Hoist. But as a Chevy or Ford.
Alita One would have to be a truck, another camper van, tying back to Hot Rod. (They're not related though). 80s ram van or Chevy van, or possibly conversion camper van, as a military vehicle would not be shades of pink. Make her the van conversion but also have fully armed control bay, like Optimus' trailer.
Maybe with Amazon and selects released strange femme bots, we could very well get repaints of classics like this. Retooling another Siege Ironhide into Firestar, a Ratchet into Paradron, and a Rodimus into Alita One wouldn't be that hard.

JT, I'd like to see your G1 inspired alt mode ideas for all Transformers Characters we see in all of the U.S. cartoons that we never see an earth alt mode for or their earth modes don't actually exist, or alt modes that are after the 80s, and the characters existed during and after G1, named or not and even if they were briefly seen (with the exception of beast wars and beast machines). Feel free to include those animation error bots from G1. LOL! They deserve a chance at life in our imaginations too. I think you're the right guy to breath life into those nameless bots. If you were to take this on, don't leave out vehicles from before the 80s and definitely go more into the concept vehicles, kit cars, and military vehicles. You have great ideas, I'd love hear more. 😁

Arcee can be a different model year Corvette, so that wouldn't affect Tracks, Loudpedal, or Roadrage in the slightest, heh heh heh heh heh. Or maybe even a different model, akin to how there were two entirely different Porsche models (Jazz & Cliffjumper).
Chromia should be a truck or van to match her boo Ironhide; she'd be perfect for even a modern version to emulate the Diaclone toys used for Ironhide & Ratchet. Besides, the Chevy Citation was fugly as hell...and I know because the regular Citation was one of my older brother's first cars. Then again, the Thrilling 30 toy kinda nailed it with the wannabe TRON Lightcycle...
That one for Firestar is perfect. Everything about it makes sense. Well played!! And it also complements her boo Inferno quite nicely, if I do say so myself.
Moonracer...I guess?? Nah, I think that the Dome Zero should've went to her. Why? Well...
...Lancer could've been a later model LANCIA. Step all on Wheeljack's toes there!! 😏😏😏
Greenlight is another one that's perfect, just without the spoiler - that's givin' mad Cliffjumper energy. I don't think that vibe would suit her. 😏😏😏
Oh, you hit the nail on the head for Elita-1!! The only downside is that it looks as if it'd share a transformation style with the Datsuns.
Beta?? I totally forgot about the crossbow wielding partner to Alpha Trion's younger self. Yes, the precursor of the Kawasaki Ninja makes sense (especially since most later ones ARE green).
Lifeline, the Paradron Medic. And why not a Corvette?? Hell, let's not forget about Car Robots Mach Alert/RiD01 Prowl, who's a POLICE LAMBORGHINI. And seafoam green? Uhhh, Bayverse Ratchet started out as a puke green Hummer. But I will give you that point about aquatic vehicles, soooooo...a rescue boat should stick.

Ooh female bots, my specialist subject! Okay, here's my crack at it.
Arcee: As you say, a Chevy Corvette is ideal. In fact, we already have a Corvette C4 fembot - Road Rage! aka Red Tracks.
Chromia: I'd go for a Chevrolet Astro minivan, With a 200hp V6 engine, some models could be quite fast and they have that wedge shaped front that G1 Chromia has. Or if you want a sporty looking station wagon, how about the Volvo 480 or Honda Accord Aerodeck?
Firestar: My first thought is the Pontiac Firebird. The 80's models were pretty damn cool, and a good counterpart to Arcee's Corvette body. If she has to be a pickup, then Chevy El Camino is a good choice, or you could head to Australia and the Holden Kingswood utility truck. If you want to go classic, how about a Dodge Lil Red Express.
Moonracer: Moon... luna... lumina? Unfortunately the Chevrolet Lumina wasn't produced until the mid 80s but it's predecessor, the Chevrolet Monte Carlo, would fit well here. Or since Le Mans cars race at night, perhaps a Jaguar XJR-S.
Lancer: My first thought was a Mitsubishi Lancer. The mid 80's Lancer was a bit boring though, so let's skip up to the larger and sportier Mitsubishi Galant. Which was sold in the US as the Dodge Colt Challenger.
Greenlight: Well, races start when the green light comes on so I'd again go to race cars. Well, the 1984 European Touring Car Championship was dominated by the Jaguar XJ-S, which the factory team raced in the colour green!
Elita-1: I can think of no better car than the Lotus Elite. We'll just ignore that it went out of production in 1982...
Beta: The name screams Lancia Beta, although that went out of production in 1981. But if you want weird, there was a concept car based on the Beta, called the Medusa.
Paradron medic: Personally, I would consider a Mercedes-Benz W124 'Binz', basically a station wagon with an ambulance body on the back!

Alita One I would imagine as a large truck just because she's a match for Optimus, more so than a race car. The Chevy of the time period would be good but also a Ford Ranger pickup would also work. Or a '81 Dodge Ram, or Ram Van.

Arcee, Corvette convertible '85 Stingray, and in '05 'vette. Yes.
Chromia, Plymouth minivan, Astro or Voyager, '81.
Firestar, '75 Gran Torino, or El Camino.
Moonracer, '82 Lamborghini Testa Rosa, or Ferrari Enzo.
Lancer, DMC De Lorean, '84. Or Pontiac Fierro, '83.
Alita One, 83 Chevy Suburban, truck similar to a large suv today.
Greenlight, '84 Pontiac Crown Victoria police car, as her color could blend in with NY.

funny when i hear the name Greenlight I automatically assign a motorcycle alt mode to her. Probably because of where I live where no matter what the traffic lights is indicating red, green, or yellow Motorcyclist usually would keep going anyway as if it was always a greenlight for them to go. Hence to me a motorcyclist nature atleast over here fits her name
and even the rounded shapes of her body

Couple notes: Red Alert is a fire chief's car....and a Lamborghini. It wouldn't be out of the question for Takara to have made a medical Corvette.
Takara and Hasbro may not have known how to do a motorcycle well back then (see: G1 Wreck-Gar), but Bandai did.
As for limited editions, any of the Autobots who turned into racing cars would have had very few real life examples. In rally form, Wheeljack's Lancia was probably one of maybe a dozen or so. Mirage's Ligier F1 car was probably one of maybe six, if they made backups for the backups. The Tyrell P34 which Drag Strip (yeah, a Decepticon, but still) was modeled after, would have had similar numbers. (in real life it sometimes had a paint scheme which closely resembled Mirage's!) Rodimus Prime was also based on a concept car; not a Winnebago, but the turbine-powered GM Bison from the 1960's.

Elita One should be a 1960s Kenworth w925 with a brown stripey paint job. Brown is still reddish, while not being red, and that type of truck has very rounded, graceful edges as semis go.
Arcee: 1960 Plymouth Fury in TFP colors.
Chromia: 1980 Chevy k20 pickup with her typical baby blue.
Moonracer was annoying to me, so she gets killed off in the first 5 minutes with no vehicle mode, or lines.

I'm surprised that you didn't pick a couple very 80s iconic cars. 82 Firebird, aka Knight Rider car, (and yes, I'm aware that Windcharger is supposed to be a Camaro from around then, but let's face it, that's not a convincing Camaro, nor is it a Firebird... the other iconic 80s car, a DeLorean. A few of the fembots could've used those.
Besides that, I really liked these ideas. Good, fun video. Keep em coming.

Firestar/Novastar and Elita really do benefit from not being stupid tiny Deluxes anymore. Deluxes that my non-TF friends have described as "Optimus' daughter". Let them be Voyagers.
Firestar's already a truck so even just making her a Siege Ironhide-sized Voyager would work. Elita would be the same.
That being said, the Imperator is a NICE car, and if she is to remain a Deluxe car (for whatever reason), that IS a good choice.
Actually, i just realized that Siege Ironhide's alt mode looks A LOT like Chromia's truck form.
I would argue that the Kawasaki Ninja better fits Nightbird, coz, y'know.
