@@memelord166spartans didn’t have calvary, and they didn’t have ranged units like cretan archers either, aswell as pikemen, this is just a fake battle made to entertain people lol

1 pusiste tantas catapultas que literalmente dejaron sin unidades cuerpo a cuerpo a esparta
2 para mi, se noto mucho que quitaste parte de las unidades de esparta
3 creo que habian más unidades de distancia que cuerpo a cuerpo
4 quedaron tan pocas unidades cuerpo a cuerpo de Esparta que no fue nada para los romanos

I can imagine what spartacus was feeling with the roman army advancing towards him and the sea behind him with nowhere to run.

The player knew that romans will never win so he use catapult to defeat the sparta hahahah
If you’re gonna use the siege machines give the Spartans something for them at least cuz that’s not even a fair fight. They could easily beat the shit out of the Roman’s if you didn’t put them at such an unfair advantage like that and not give them anything to counter with.
No Spartan army could match the Roman legionaries - even though the Spartans were superbly conditioned soldiers. The Romans were too well drilled in unit tactics and too well protected.
This a a toal BS game scecnario. The Romans never encountered the best Sparta had to offer, and the Macedonian phalanx was decisivey beaten by small Roman units using superb cohesion tactis to break the phalanx and then turn its flanks.
This tactic was shown (very clumsily) in the game vid, with huge Roman testudo columns ramming the phalanx. This never happened in such epic numbers. But Polybius records that the Romans broke and flanked the phalanx formations at Cynosephalae with smaller Roman manuver units which most likely impacted the spears from an oblique angle, using their large scutum to "fold" them to the side, allowing penetration of legionaries which hacked their way through to create an opening. This caused panic and a route of most of the Greek army.
There atre two weaknesses to the phalanx;
1) It resists quick manuever and all spear point tothe front. Being very long, only the first three to five ranks had a hedghog in front of them. The rear ranks were not in a position to wield their spears effectively until the first ranks were down.
2) If the enemy penetrates the first ranks at an oblique angle, the rear ranking spears cannot turn to defend, and must be discarded to go to the sword. If the enemy are Romans, it was often Game Over in a close melee.

Very poor tactic from the Romans since they have the advantage of artillery. The roman should never attack in columns. At the end of the day this was just a game video-in reality the romans were masters of Europe
they are stronger if they have the high ground with the sun behind them.

P.S. -- Yes, the Spartans won the Battle
two basic error. during deployment march the sarissa would be at shoulder like a rifle and gladius would be sheated. and every Roman would have a pilum or two, shouldered as a rifle. the only hand baggage would have been shields and at the time Rome invaded Achaia the Legions still used ogival curve shield and not rectangulars.
А шо за тактика такая:спартанцы всегда могли кинуть копьё, ведь у них было вдобавок 2 меча, это 1. 2.где лучники и конница? Хоть спартанцы их не уважали, но хоть 2-3 отряда взяли-бы. Я не говорю о том-что они все стояли когда по ним стреляли из катапульт.

Yes I agree. Spartans with Phalanxis (pikes) would have walked straight into the Roman body. I.e not just stood there being hit by missiles. Roman's to counter this would have needed many Cavalry units to try to get into the flanks but as long as the Spartans set up with Phalanxis soldiers in the middle and flanked them with other units to protect and used the projectile soldiers at the rear....they would have drawn the Roman's into a sort of trap and the phalanxis soldiers would have ripped through the Roman's.

Se puede saber por qué narices se le ponen a los hoplitas elite entre elite veteranos en mil batallas( haciendo que ninguno sea joven) sin armadura además con el escudo oplon que es el redondo que llevan en el vídeo. En la realidad llevaban una pesada armadura de cuerpo completo y un escudo muy característico parecido al de leonidas y usaban más la espada espartana que la lanza como tal. Esos hoplitas parecen más espartiatas jovenes sin armadura que un hoplita. Ummmm no me mola jumm. Además como dicen por aquí no has puesto ni artilleria a los espartanos ni unidades del mismo tier, eso no es una batalla justa sin importar el número el ejército romano ganará por que para empezar tomaron nota y aprendieron de los griegos el arte de la guerra entre otras cosas. Umm no voy a dar dislike pero no me mola.
