The hold formation is extremely bad for melee troops, as it keeps them from reinforcing their lines. As soon as one man falls, he leaves a gap that leaves the entire front line outnumbered, and the losses mount up way faster than if they were all pushing against the enemy.
also, the AI in the game is just to walk forwards an attack with no strategy, which sucks for the persians because the spartans have significantly better range
Generally the "Hold" order in this game series is only to keep the tactical reserve stay put until it is needed and unleashed to attack. There is no actual sensible "Defend" order at all in the game.
@@Ba_Yegu There is now.
@@romanwagner8709 Yes, Thanks, I noticed the new "Defend" order implied. It seems to give some flexibility for moving, but I haven't self yet tested it enough.
By first impressions the ordered to defence should be more aggressive, but still return to the point supposed to be defended.
Maybe they will add variations of the modes, like "attack in formation" or "hold and fill formation".
You also gotta understand. Spartans usually were hill fighters finding choke points to form their phalanx.
The weakness of a phalanx is it's only strong in the front. But if you are in a canyon... That becomes irrelevant.
@Alex M
packed square of spearmen and locked shields with all the spears facing one direction.
@alexm7063 think armadillo
Spartans weren't hill fighters and they didn't usually fight in choke points. Hellenic battles were generally fought on open terrain
@Alex M You seriously don't know what a phalanx is? Just how ignorant are you?
@Alex M read some books on military history my dude
he's showing how many zombies can kill the tanks but in reality he's flexing his beefy pc
Fr tho
it looks to me like the persians that where pushing eachother into the water where actualy creating a bridge of bodys because you can see them standing on the corpse pile in the water and slowly expanding into it
In the alpha/beta, they could do that. The bodies would lay about ten feet under the surface of the water and stack up so other units could walk over them.
Sort of like, what ants do
@@7gears312 yes your right🤣🤣✌✌
@@lailo157 you??
The number 300 is likely a mistake made by the ancient historian Herodotus. Furthermore, Leonidas opposed Xerxes and his army with at least 7,000 men. While Athens and Sparta were the primary opponents of Persian rule, other Greek city-states joined them in the fight.
the only spartans that went to fight Xerxes were his guard of 300(or very close to that number).. yes the entire army did go and fight but not till after those 300 were dead.. and yes it's true there were other city states with the 300 bringing the total to 7000. but most of them were farmers and crafters not soldiers. at the spartamns peak they had about 8000 soldiers, of course not many but they were all worth 4 regular men
@@ryantoth531
I think what the commenter is mistaking is that there were tons of other United Greek armies, but Sparta did not make up all of it.
If I’m not mistaken I recall a source saying that the maximum number of Spartans that joined the war (not necessary the battle) was about 800.
Bro shush
☝️🤓
I don't play any of the games you watch but I love you and your videos. You make videos like every other minute! How do you keep cranking them out like that?!?!?!?
I fear baron might have a burnout soon but I hope not
The shermans looked like flamethrowers. If the flamethrower shot 75 mm HE/AP rounds.
An actual flamethrower tank in the game would be "interesting". ; )
Amazing content keep doing this game and more like it! I hope to see it more in the future.
Imagine going back in time and telling King Leonidas that one day your epic last stand would be recreated in a virtual simulation
The break in character when the Sherman's started blasting was too funny 😂
Bro. UEBS2 is my favorite game. And you playing it makes me happy. Thanks baron ❤️
Nice work Baron keep up the good work
7:26 this looks like a bunch of buff hippies blocking the free way waiting for cars to come near them
Great video once again. Keep it up. :)
When seeing those tanks firing, all i could think of was - what a beast of a machine this man is playing this game on? It should've crashed on the first second. It all started to get fishy from 3 milly zombies :D
Yeah
Full Auto Shermans, hahaha love it.
Love your videos keep making more
at the 200,000 persians vs spartans the persians were just trying to make a bridge with their fellow men
You need a narrow choke point for this, that's how they did so well. They couldn't be surrounded.
You totally got the spartans wrong, as the movie 300 got them wrong. The power of the spartans comes from their Phalanx formation. They formed a wall of spears with super long 5+ meter spears. This gave them insane range and basically made the Phalanx invincible from the front. The Phalanx could only be defeated if flanked from the sides or rear.
The strength of the spartans was their spear RANGE. Not because they were super warriors like Achilles. Once they break Phalanx formation, they were useless.
This game got the spartans totally wrong. Their spears were not that short. The real spartan spears were about triple that length.
Go play Rome: Total War and see how the Spartans really fought using Phalanx formation. In Rome: Total war, I did a simulation of 300 Spartans versus 5,000 Persians. The spartans won with 0 casualties. The spartan spears were so long the persians would never get within 10 meters of a spartan.
Are you talking about the pikemen? Because the hoplites had shorter spears
@IXtheHorrid na there just stating the facts
finally!!! someone with information! :)
Quality over Quantity! Shear strong soldiers can survive over thousands of neutral soldier! Love these vids 🙂
Of course the spartans won
King Leonidas:"THIS IS SPARTA!
All Spartans:AHH WOO,AHH WOO,AH WOO!
i watched the whole thing because i thought it said "penguins" and even though that was my mistake, i'm still disappointed.
This was surprisingly satisfying to watch
You never fail to entertain!
Hahahah i love how the zombies flew up hahah
Hello again! Love your vids!
Thanks for making this vid brother
Love your vids
Baron at one point was like I summon my tanks in attack mode
Did you say “Chunk Norris?” Because, you’re right! 😂 love the vids
Well kratos is a Spartan tho
In Alpha you could Make a Bridge out of Bodies to cross The Water and Flank them. In this Version the AI is tuned to make sure they don't do that too often.
baron i have a serious thing to ask you should make a dinosaur troop in bot wars because i think it sounds cool and a new map that is lik cavemen days and the robots wear certain things in that map idk it was just an idea and wanted to share
It will be cool if there was cyber soldiers type stuff
100%
I do miss the alpha where units would make human bridges across the water.
Can we just appreciate this mans editing
" You have many slaves, Xerxes. But I have warriors"
Hahaha lmao me rn also the only one raising my hand in hystory class
This was a great experiment!!!
"THIS IS SPARTAAA!"
-- a very noble man
Parents: our kid is playing with his solider toys. What kids see:
To make it more historically accurate he should've let the Persians go around the second bridge
and imagine being german on omahar beach and seeing a full auto tank firing at your bunker postion
Omahar Beach was no laughing matter.
Leonidas: this brings back memories.
THE BURJ DUBAI TOWER XD WHY DID I FIND THAT SO FUNNT LMAOOO
totally accurate
Hmm great video if that's what it's called these days but the numbers, especially the 300 are referring to the battle of Thermopylae, or the hot gates as it's known, this meant the Spartans could not be flanked, and only fought 20 or so abreast, which meant the opposing numbers were inconsequential! it wasn't until the "Goat path" was revealed that the Persians had any chance, as far as history tells it! by the way I can attest to a lot of this, as I know it is not possible to get punched in the face by more than 3 people at a time, don't ask how or why I know this! but multiple assailants in the right environment are just a test of stamina.
Spartans only did so well because they had an easily defended position. It took time, but after attrition and being surrounded they fell. Doesn't mean that they weren't double tough, but the Phalanx was only designed for frontal attacks. Had the Persians caught them on an open plain with their numbers, the Spartans would have gone down quickly despite their superior strength and skill.
Baron: "ok I created the burj Dubai tower"
Me who knows its burj khalifa: face palm
i love this part you know whats a good idea to get the hieght invanted we will stand on are dead brothers
A great example of synergy.
Burj Dubai tower had me crying🤣🤣🤣
Great video.
If they’re faced against us they loose.🤭🤘
Thank you! Nice
the hot gates bruh. You gotta have this fight in the hot gates.
Hi BaronVonGames. I noticed in some of your UEBS 2 videos there is a good amount of blood present but in another video with exact situation in terms of unit type, no blood was present. Could you please explain how you did this or why it happened so I know how to disable or enable it? If anyone else out on RUclips knows the answer, could you please let me know? Thanks!
Nice to see they haven't even bothered to fix the ai from the first game. They still just run into the water and drown all the time.
Only issue is that the Spartans 300 had a stronghold where they only had to defend against attack from one side at a bottleneck. So they only had to dead with a small amount of Persians at a time.
Greece:Ummm is that a zombie hord?HELP
USA:i can help
Love his face like: OMG I killed him! Now what?
my favorite thing to do in this game is to test various methods of trying to make the largest blood ocean i can. so far my most successful is 100 immortall spartans with maxed attack speeed and increased range, and aving them swarmed by millions of zombies on one of the lower ends of the highland map's canyons.
most recently though i've set 200 full auto assault rifle soldiers in the crater in the mt olympus map and had them fill it with zombie bloode
10:15 Persians are so smart they thought of making a fully perdian bridge
Baby Gobby is coming for us all.
first. also love the idea!! keep the work going!
They held them off in a bottleneck tand constructed a wall if bodies and used it as a trap and pushed persians off a cliff. They used battle strategies that used the terrain. Im guessing in an open feils scenario like this would convince some ppl it didnt happen. Hou should have tried that
The Spartans are just unstoppable..
The last fight reminds me of an anime where a portal from another world appeared in Japan and the japan military just dominated the ancient empire's forces.
They used to make a body bridge easily, but it was patched, i think it can still be done but requires many more millions
Greece:Oh no, im in grave danger.
Turkey:YOUR SOO DEAD
Tanks so funny lol
Well it wasn't only 300 spartans
It was 300 spartans +1000 more greek soldiers from elsewhere who stayed behind to help Leonidas
Oh my god could you imagine a high explosive full auto tiger tank.
The Spartans were superior in real life because of their training. Their advantage was when they were in formation. Their formation was the strongest out of any. The biggest part of their training was their ability to work together. A small mistake and they may all die. It’s the strongest and weakest formation. Never screw with a Spartan in formation.
@The Emperor Of Mankind , Negahban Bozorg The Immortals were at Thermopylae… They failed. You must know nothing if you actually believe that. The Greeks at Thermopylae barley lost anyone because of their strategic advantage. The short spears of the Persians was an easy loss against the Greek, much longer, spear that killed any Persian that wanted to get anywhere near the impenetrable wall of Spartans. Even an Immortal. Their formation was later used by the Romans and shaped modern military. I even made a working strategy for checkers based off it.
@The Emperor Of Mankind , Negahban Bozorg lmfao. No. Just. No. Sorry but your personal view on history changes nothing
@The Emperor Of Mankind , Negahban Bozorg I wouldn't exactly call throwing bodies at the enemy until you eventually drown your opponent in blood a particularly skilled tactic. Effective, absolutely. But not brilliant by any measure. Y'all needed anywhere from 70-80k soliders, to fight an army of roughly 7k, and STILL only beat the Spartans, because they got betrayed by their own people. But yeah. Jerk yourself off about how amazing "your" people are, despite the fact you have absolutely nothing to do with their accomplishments.
@The Emperor Of Mankind , Negahban BozorgExcuse me, did you just say that Spartans were one of the worst tacticians? Thermopylae was the smartest move the Spartans could have done in their situation and state. And on top of that if you're claiming that Persians were planning stuff how come they lost almost their whole navy and suffered a huge amount of losses. You have been watching the wrong history films and you have been educated the wrong stuff my guy.
@The Emperor Of Mankind , Negahban Bozorg And also The only good thing about the Immortals were their versatility they were good at using a bow and spear, But a man to man, Spartan vs Immortal the Spartan would win because of their physical Strenght, Skill and Professionalism.
The real “thermopalyae”
The game should’ve made it so that if there was 300 Spartans on the field they instantly win no matter how many troops there are😂
Next time, do 3 million zombies vs 1 full auto Sherman.
Baron If you read this i Love your Videos
this is how i wish math class was lol
Imagine you submerge into the water for 1 second and you dead immediately
This is where they hold them
This is the bridge of men only the brave and rightist can spent on this holy bridge of men who died to make it.👍🏻
I want to watch 300 now❤
What’s with all the flashes from them sword fighting ?? Lol it looked like they were shooting at eachother when you were zoomed out
"Lets try 5 zombies then". *Adds 6 zombies*
Nice
It's amazing How the movie Just created this outfit, shirtless, for allllllllll spartans
Hahahahaha
You can make a bridge at a bodies
Glorified Spartans.
That looked like world War z lol
Zombies actually hear to get to pray
if my history is correct the defense of Thermopylae is highly exaggerated. Still extraordinary but not 300 Spartans against millions of persians but more like 300 of Leonidas' personal guard, about 3000 spartans and roughly 4000 other greeks against roughly 300,000
fact that Physics of UEBS 2 is way better than physics of any Total war game is mindblowing
On the Zombies, maybe its not easy to kill something that's already dead. ;)
the persians are making a body bridge
in Ancient Warfare 3 you ac creat naval and ground battles at the same time and you can alsow create sky battles in Ancient Warfare 3
The zombies have a lot of health!
300 spartans killed so many persians in that battle not because they are strong, but because they are smart, they used relief and made their position in a thin way between two mountains.
Op pc you know
