Harbor Freight Off Road Bottle Jack?

- In this video I install the 911 Motorsports trail jack extension on my Harbor Freight Bottle jack. This makes the jack more versatile and safer when using in any situation. I am ditching my large, heavy, awkward trail jack and am using this jack in its place. So far i have not been disappointed. I also fabricate up a base plate that gives it more surface area. I also give you guys some updates on the Subaru bumper and TDI swapped RX7 projects.

Wheeling for 15 years and NEVER owned or operated a hi lift..Bottle Jack and a sissor jack is all I carry.
Yup, not sure why it took me so long to figure that out, lol.
Cuz farm jacks look cool.
4:04 where can I find that exact extension and cap? I already have that same bottle jack.
Great video I was getting ready to ditch my hi-lift jack anyway I think I will definitely be doing this upgrade
Literally just bought a jack last week.thanks for the ideas. Going to use this on my one ton.
Nice👊🏻
Thanks again for another interesting video. This one is right on point as the alternative (High-Lift Jack) is heavy, hard to store, and potentially very dangerous. I can't count how many times I have seen a High-Lift crash down on the trail. A simple bottle jack can be just as (if not more) effective. But you hit on the key issues with this alternative: (1) Getting it to set securely under the axle; and (2) Getting it to sit stable on the ground. While I made my own, I use virtually this exact same set up you cover in the video. For people with no ability to weld/fabricate, this is a great alternative.
Nice man, thanks 👍🏻
I use what they call a “unijack” you can get them off Amazon it’s a bottle jack and jack stand all in one they’re awesome I got 4 lol
I have the same bottle jack and i bought a axle cradle from Safe Jack for $35 , i got rid of the hilift jack it almost took my head off a couple of times
Nice,👊🏻
If you treat a handy man with respect it no more dangerous than any other form of jack it is also way more versatile I have literally jacked small buildings and loaded them on trailers tensioned wire when building fences, jacked door frames square after a roll, winched the uses are endless.
That’s kinda what I built for my channel but I made a cradle to hold the axle tube and I use some small 2x4’s to make a base. I like the angle iron design to hold the jack in place!
Nice 👍🏻
Great video. Always keep a bottle jack with me!
I actually like that a lot. Might have to build one. Good job.
Thanks 🤟🏻
Great video man. I'm diggin the diversity of your projects! So many people get wrapped up in one thing. I agree on ditching the High Lift Jack, never used mine once in 10 years so I sold it and bought a Powerbuilt Unijack. Its a bottle jack and a jack stand in one! Super safe, can actually jack a lifted truck and has a wide base for dirt and sand.
I feel like high lift's are dangerous, over kill and more of a 'look what I have' gadget haha.
Thanks, I have seen those powerbuilt jacks. I think I need to get one as well.
I’ve been thinking about replacing my scissor Jack that came with my JK with a bottle Jack and cradle system like this, great video Kelly!
Thanks 👊🏻
I use what they call a “unijack” you can get them off Amazon it’s a bottle jack and jack stand all in one they’re awesome I got 4 lol
@@gwood69 oh yeah I have seen those before, good recommendation!
@@VictorVectorJKU ya I got the 3 tons and they adjust up to like 26 inches
They’re perfect for lifted truck and jeeps
Great idea. I think it would be more user friendly than a hi-lift. For example lifting by the axle or a point on frame. Esp if you need to use on a vehicle with stock crappy bumpers or no sliders.
Very true.
@@MuddyBeards4X4 what are the adapters on the Jack? That’s what I want to see. Could be useful.
Hi, Muddy Beard I have Ford F-350 which jack did recommend to use?
Do you sell those extra parts to the bottle jack? I would buy them from you if you made it.
No, 911 motorsports does. The link to those parts are in the video description.
Do you have to weld the piece on the jack? I need a bottle jack to replace my hi-lift jack but can’t weld.
Sure, this video comes out legitimately less than 8 hours after I finish mounting up my high lift to my cage. I've never been a fan of high lifts and it seems like a really good option.
The Hi-Lift is a good tool to have. Think of it less as a jack and more as a multi tool.
Off topic. If you were to replace the 40s on your jeep would you re-buy the procomps or go with another tire? I've been thinking of giving the patagonia mt's a try. You have experience with larger rubber. I've never wheeled bigger than a 33. Thanks for the great videos.
Thanks man, I am actually looking at the sticky Patagonia or the bfg KM3. The procomps are a great all around tire and work well on the street as well as being super tough offroad. Since mine is a dedicated wheeler and is trailered I am looking to go with something with a little stickier/softer compound.
@@MuddyBeards4X4 awesome thanks. I was unaware the milestars came in sticky compound. Guess I'll look that up later. Interesting
I use a scissor jack I bought from Amazon.
You can do this same thing to a scissor jack, works the same.
I use what they call a “unijack” you can get them off Amazon it’s a bottle jack and jack stand all in one they’re awesome I got 4 lol
Nice! Working good for you still? How's it work off-road?
I bent some 1"x3/8" flat bar it into a V and welded it to the top of some 1.5" square tube about 3" long. slides right on top of my bottle jack. I don't think I've used my Hi-lift for anything but breaking beads on tires or using the handle for a cheater pipe.
Subaru is a car I’ve always wanted to like. But I have spent more money working on the two Subarus my wife had, than i have on my five jeeps and k10. Sad part is the Subarus never make it no matter how much money you sink into them. All my non Subarus still run
I like these recovery tool mod videos you guys are doing especially to get rid of the sketchy Hi-lift jack, also sorry for back luck with Subie ! Keep building man!
Thanks🤟🏻
Does it leak oil? I just bought one and saw the box I’d had some oil/grease on the box. Should I be concerned?
Is the jack stroke enough to get the car out of trouble? The rack and pinion jack has a working stroke of tens of inches, the bottle jack has 4-6 inches.
A Grinder and a welder. My favorite tools.
Nice, I've used a had a bottle jack in our rig for years but the extensions are a great idea. Imo, high lift jacks are about the most over rated accessory out there.
Hi-Lifts are more of a multitool that a single purpose jack. There's a lot of creative stuff you can do with them, but overall I agree with you. Fairly over rated.
Nice!
Are you a bodybuilder too?
Haha, nope. I used to workout a lot. Now my workout area is full of car parts, lol.
Just use a 2 x6 piece of board and set the jack on
By the way I hope everything is okay with Nate and his family
You just replaced the head gaskets as you said, and then it locked up. Self explanatory!
It was almost a year ago, so probably not operator error.
💯👍
😩’prooopa 12v!’ - no bt seriously Ql-S-jak, jack👋
30% of the video spent NOT talking about the video. Dang
Just get rid of the foreign cars and get a Camaro if you want power and keep the Jeep
You yourself fucked that engine up! Just own it!
