- The Harbor freight offroad Jack vs the Pro eagle offroad Jack! Today, I want to compare the new kid on the block to what is by far the most popular off-road floor jack to date. On paper, the Badlands Jack meets or exceeds just about every aspect of the Pro Eagle. But at half the price, is it just as good? It's hard to say. Either way, I want to have fun tossing this jack around and share the results with those of you who are interested! Enjoy this non-scientific video and make sure you do your own research before you spend any money! From what I can tell, both companies offer a great product that is very useful on and offroad.

hi there!
Harbor freight packaging designer here,
By the UPC on the packaging there should be a "made in . . . . " Most likely china or Taiwan.
I know it was designed here by our team in the states, but definitely made overseas. . . Glad to see it has a good initial impression. 🤘 Enjoy 🍻
Thank you very much for the comment! I'm not sure why I didn't think about the box lol. It's so obvious 🤦♂️. In any case, thank you for the clarity!
@@DirtLifestyle if it comes in through customs it has to be marked country of origin or it will not be allowed to enter the usa. A way companies get around that is they buy the article in parts form and assemble it here. They call that assembled in usa from parts from various locations
Kevin, do us all a favor and pass it up the chain that HF is going in a good direction and we're all loving it. And that's coming from a guy who had his own shop and used all top of the line equipment and avoided HF like the plague for decades. They're winning people over.
@@crisnevin7934 most definitely! So great to hear. It’s a large ship to turn around, but we are seeing progress. We love hearing that the end users (me included) are appreciating some of our newer product offerings. 🍻
@@Moesmetalworx I'm happy with the HF toolbox. I read a lot of reviews on different brands and decided HF sounded good.
Thanks
I hope you enjoyed my non-scientific method of using this new Jack! These are fun videos, but definitely do your own research before you buy anything.
One thing I want to make clear is that I have never received any money or endorsement from either company. I have never signed a contract with either company, AND I wasn't even asked to make this video. Companies like Harbor Freight and Pro Eagle send products to RUclipsrs, hoping they will at least get seen in the background. Most of the time, I don't make a dedicated video, but I've gotten to know many of you guys over the last three years of having a youtube channel...well, I'm getting better at knowing what you want!
*update!
I got a comment from someone at Harbor Freight! The box says made in China 🤦♂️. Obviously, it would be on the box, lol. I can't believe I didn't look there. Pro Eagle has commented as well, and unfortunately, I can't pin it without losing my own comment. The Pro Eagle Jack is made in China. They have a bunch more they want to say and it's all in their comment below.
To be clear, made in China doesn't mean it's a bad product to me. It means it's supporting a country that is actively taking jobs and intellectual property from America. We partnered with Yankum ropes on the fairlead specifically because they made everything here in the US. As consumers, we have a hard time choosing where our products come from. But manufacturers can. If there was an American made off-road Jack, I know many of you would buy it. But at the very least, if you buy from Mexico, Canada, Taiwan, Vietnam... anywhere but China, you aren't supporting a country that is constantly taking from countries around the world.
Live your life, buy what you can afford, and try to support free countries when the option is available 🙌. From what I can tell, all Jacks are made overseas, so until we have an American option, I would buy the Badlands.
Nor will they.
Vietnam is a communist country…
Brennan Metcalf makes a Jack that is one hundred percent made in the USA. He just needs to get it to pass some certification tests and then I’ll buy it.
To be fair to China, you have to admit the US is the biggest oppressor of freedom worldwide. They will silence, isolate, and target any country that even tries to inch over them. I am proud to be an American, but I know my country well, I know its a great oppressor in many parts of the world. Lets not blind ourselves here and think the USA is perfect and full of "freedom".
I fully agree with you. It’s the same with winches. I don’t know of a single electric winch that’s made completely in the US. So if I’m buying a Chinese one no matter what, I’m going to buy the one that is the best value, has given me the best reliability in my experience, and the one that is the easiest to warranty if I ever need to do so.
I also very much agree with your point about Harbor Freight employing Americans. I’ve had people argue with me that I should be using Warn winches so that I’m supporting all the jobs and people that work for an “Oregon company” (even though they aren’t). So I looked up the numbers and found out that Harbor Freight directly employs more people in Oregon than Warn does, and then when you take into account all their stores across the US, they support VASTLY more American Families than Warn could ever dream of.
Respect your opinion. A lot of good ones made. For me, as well as being American made, is who made the innovation. Both of these jacks exist because of pro eagle. Full stop. Support American jobs, but secondly, American innovation.
Knowing that harbor freight has a guy sitting back there, knowing what to tackle with the ASME cert and what hoops to jump through with testing, says a lot. I love this video and can’t wait for a response from eagle.
Honestly even if the pro eagle was made in the USA but can’t pass the cert. That would still give me reason enough to go for the chinesium Badlands Jack that will pass the cert.
I hope Pro Eagle tosses us some info on this. I feel like I made it pretty clear that I'm not trying to make enemies, I just want clarity 🙌
@@jordantrujillo293 especially considering that ASME is an American organization and these Chinese jacks are being tested and passed in America.
@@DirtLifestylebro it doesnt matter at this point. you asked the questions everyone wants to know and i am willing to bet its about to ruffle some feathers lol
Jeffery epstein did not......oh never mind
FYI - harbor freight manuals usually have a numbered diagram of parts that you can use in reference to ordering parts with the 1-800 number. The manuals are usually available by PDF on their website. For this jack the parts diagram is page 9 of the manual. The phone operators can pull up that diagram and be literally on the same page with you.
WOW, I was just getting ready to make this same comment!!! I guess for some of us it's common knowledge...
I won a 3 ton Pro Eagle in a raffle with the mount for it. I use the Pro Eagle jack in my shop and it works really well on my gravel drive way. I use it so much I wanted to get a 2nd one for work as I work on a ton of lifted Jeeps and trucks. I'm going to getting the one from Harbor Freight as soon as I see it in stock there. On the side of Pro Eagle's box it said they was made in China.
well thank you for your comment i really do appreciate it cause i was on the verge on buying it a couple weeks ago but im now decided on the harbor freight one :D
I totally agree with your stance on this. I would love to know the extra $300 is going to be American made and has met the ASME-PASE test. Even with the circumstances of the testing, another great review of the product and how it took the abuse.
Yeah some of us can’t afford to spend over 300 just because it says made in America. Idc where it’s made if I can afford it and it works I’m going to buy it. It’s good that more people are able to get into wheeling because now it’s starting to get more affordable. If it wasn’t for badlands I guarantee I wouldn’t be as hooked on off roading as I am now because it’s stuff I can afford.
@Xaphan Believe me, I get what you're saying, and I'm not saying I would choose either based on that. It's simply why does it cost $300 more if it's still made in the same place. I like affordable things, but I've also had cheap tools crap out on me when I need them most.
@@LtHawk77 I have a bit of experience with Chinese manufacturing and I can tell you they are no other than anybody. They have super cheap shit factories and they can really produce high quality, they actually produce what you ask and it's all about the price.
they dont do high quality in chinese factories, its decent quality.
@@upallnightauto6234 It's not 1995. You can't goto space and run a space station with decent quality.
Harbor Freight products have improved a lot over the years. They definitely started with cheap products but they learned how to improve them while keeping costs down. They're going in the right direction. Lots of other stores and manufacturers who had a decent product at one time have been cutting corners in the pursuit of making their products cheaper to boost profits. They are going in the wrong direction.
Kinda funny I was thinking the same thing with rough country and kinda the same timeline as well
Rough Country? Can you elaborate?
@@mosthated8190 if you don’t know who rough country is then I’m not even gonna bother dude
@@gwood69 To be fair I don't know what you are referring too either. I know Rough Country makes lifts, and I believe they haven't always been the best. Are you saying they have been increasing in quality while keeping the cost lower?
@@derekboberg9766 they make more than lifts now. They do all sorts of stuff. But yes the quality has gotten better while still being relatively cheap
The fact you can flip a lever and rock the jack on the back wheels to roll it around is so handy! My pro eagle doesn't do that and if you want to push it around a corner it's not the funnest thing to do.. also the side grab handles are cool.. I want to add that to mine
I agree. An excellent improvement over the competition. The Pro Eagle Kratos has a serious competitor now. Why spend twice as much? HF has a hit a home run with the Badland floor jack.
It’s nice to see the jack isn’t a direct copy. Harbor Freight has definitely stepped it up with this. The extension looks to be an improvement, but I still prefer the one we manufacture in America! Our big wheel conversions are going to be a little harder sell now, but we do make them for other jack brands and offer them in different sizes. We also have a simple vehicle mount that will possibly work with this jack too.
I dig the stuff you’ve been putting out. I’d actually love to see a no-BS comparison of the offerings from you and where you see the pros & cons. Essentially, I think that different people will have different needs and that would help them figure out what option is right for their use cases.
Keep up the good work, I love seeing American small businesses innovate and succeed!
Your jack kits are awesome, put together a 1.5 Ton one for my dad to carry in is RZR and it had been great. I also have an extension on my 3 Ton jack in my garage.
I have your extensions on a Harbor Fright bottle jack and floor jack. Love them. I will also get this Jack as well.
@@g1mpster Totally agree!!
Glad y'all made one specifically for this jack. This video was what put me over the edge on buying it. And it's only 50 bucks to boot, I'm sold. That is the one thing I don't like more than anything on this jack. I have it in the back of my 4runner and it's so heavy that nothing I do can keep it in place and from rolling (even tried putting tire chocks behind it lol).
Great video Nate, thank you for the open honesty in your review. Harbor Freight is offering some higher quality over what they used to.
Thanks for watching brother! Glad you enjoyed the video 👍
I've been using HF stuff for years, never had issues. I definitely agree that their quality has improved. I did the 911motorsports conversion with the aluminum HF jack. It's amazing!!
Send it to Nate for testing lol
I read your post and was curious about the 911 conversion. 20 years ago, we basically did the same thing, for our class 5-1600 car, from scratch with the HF 1-ton jack for about $40. I saw the price of $235 and couldn't imagine why someone would spend that much for something you can do with some parts from McMaster-Carr and Home Depot. Granted, the 911 kit is slick looking, and may be better suited for the less handy folk, but anyone playing off road should have enough fabrication sense to do this themselves.
Excellent take, especially the calling-out of where manufacturers actually produce their stuff. I’m on of the folks that would actually pay a fair premium for US-made items, so I appreciate the question.
This was an awesome video. Only complaint i have is that you don't have more content. Of all the channels i watch you are definitely my favorite. The most in depth. The most honest videos out there. Need to grow your channel so we can some how get more content. Good luck with the channel and always look forward to your videos.
Absolutely couldn’t agree more with Pro Eagle letting ppl know where it’s made. Good review vid Nate. Would love to see another one with both as 3 ton ⚡️🤘🏼
Thanks, man! Hopefully, they make it clear in the comments. Time will tell 👍
@@DirtLifestyle have they responded? I'm looking in the comments now.
I did see a video straight from pro eagle saying there Jack's are designed in USA but the warehouse is in China.
If it was made in 🇺🇸 it would be plastered all over their website and on their products.
@@DirtLifestyle Don't they have to stamp products made abroad for Tax/Tarriff purposes?
HF has seriously stepped up their game and their stuff just works now. It's been interesting to watch through the years.
I have the pro eagle “the beast” jack and I love it. Have had it for almost two years and have put it through heavy use. It is made in china. The thing that ppl might be missing is that this was our only option in the market for a bit as an “off road” jack so technically we paid for what is tried and true and at the time the best option. I agree it’s expensive but what isn’t these days that’s valuable. Time will tell on the longevity of the badland. Great review 🤙
Harbour Freight has some great stuff especially for a DIYer. For tools to use in the shop/home, heat shrink, apache cases, etc. I have had some great success with their products.
100% unless you are a professional mechanic, you don't need super expensive tools like Snap on. HF tools are great for the occasional DIYer. I have a few HF jacks and jack stands that have been flawless for ten plus years.
@@remembermorrisonA lot of shops are converting to ICON now…
all of my tools from high school are from harbor freight. all Pittsburgh and some craftsman. I have pittsburgh jackstands and a 3 ton pittsburgh jack. (jackstands are from BEFORE the recall, theyre the good ones, as been proven since they havnt killed me yet). Ive had these tools for over....6 years now and they just used like 2 weeks ago to pull an engine out of a honda Fit. people hate on harbor freight because "cheap" but i like cheap where its still giving me my moneys worth.
@@remembermorrison you’re absolutely right and I’d even say that some of their newer ICON line stacks up just fine against the more expensive brands you see in professional shops. They’ve been putting some high quality stuff out in recent years.
@@g1mpster Gearwrench too. They have really stepped up their game.
Your a very balanced and respectful dude, good review. 👍
Thanks brother 🙌
Thanks for the review. I came here from Casey LaDelle’s channel. Thinking of getting this jack for my son who has a birthday coming up.
That locking handle is so nice on the badland jack for maneuverability!
I'm definitely picking one up!!
x2 the thing that has me wanting it. hands down huge selling point.
Reviews like this is why I watch RUclips. The honest, matter of fact info is great! Keep the great content coming.
Been using Harbor Freight’s Daytona 3 Ton Floor Jack for a while now and it’s a fantastic jack for under 2 bills. Don’t quote me but I read somewhere once that it’s 99% the same thing as the equivalent Snap-On jack. They have some nice stuff (not everything) and that off-road Jack looks pretty legit. Thanks for the review!
I have that Jack too & it is a snap on rip off. They even sued them in court but settled during discovery bc snap on didn’t want to disclose trade secretes
@@adidas4275 not even a rip off, harbor freight found the same factory that was building the snap-on Jack and had them build the Daytona Jack. Snap-on didn't want people to figure out they were paying 1200 bucks for a china jack. Recently they've made the jacks in the us now for about 3 years
Snap on filed a lawsuit against harbor for this exact reason and LOST so it is not the same jack by court standards
Excellent honest review 👌🏼 not something I need, but something I’d consider at $299 rather than $599. Otherwise, my standard HF 3 ton long reach shop jack has worked well this year. And it was nice watching @ProjectFarm confirm their value 🤙🏽
I agree with you take on harbor freight products in general, I have a probably 20 year old HF floor jack and recently bough their low profile floor jack and there is no comparison between the two. They still have the cheap and questionable quality products but they also have upped there game in a lot of ways on other products.
it seems like harbor freight learned from their jack stand issue. to use the ASME-PASE standard is a good idea. Also, couldn't you use Pro-Eagles accessories on the Badlands jack?
No the parts are different. Also the wheels are held on with nuts instead stupid clips that get lost when popped off. The lift extension is bolted on instead of twisted on. I love it so far. Pro Eagle claims theirs is made in the USA, well i am sorry but i haven't seen much quality coming out of the USA lately and i live there.
HF has been vacuuming up engineers from everywhere.
I saw a bunch of the new jack stands from Harbor Freight at sema. They welded the bottom of the seam that was failing and made a couple of other small but significant changes. It's clear that they want to improve the products and change their image. The good news is as consumers, we win.
@@SimonElenor They don't claim the jack is made in the USA at all, thats exactly what this video points out.
Agree, Harbor Fright has really come legit last few years! Also as much as I like the cap on HF I must say of the three different ones I go to the staff running them are very helpful and even go out of their way to help me save even more money!
I have been using the green Daytona jack from harbor freight and the 911 moyorsports off road jack kit. I love it for its size. Packs away very well.
Dude…. Solid video! I have been wanting this type of jack, and after having a HF jack for the past 12 years, its finally time to upgrade to a big wheel jack, and I am going back to HF for this new one (even though the old jack still works!)
One of your rock crawling buddies over at Muddy Beards bought a kit from 911 Motorsports and converted a Harbor freight racing jack into a big wheel off road jack.
I couldn't resist, it was so easy I bought a 100 dollar HF jack, ordered the conversion kit and built my own unit.
So far a year later and I've had no issues with the jack, works perfectly.
I think I paid 130 bucks for the 911 Motorsports kit plus the price of the jack, so it only cost me 230 dollars plus tax.
Nate, I love your honesty and ethics. You can truly tell you care about your viewers and trade.
It's no secret that Chinese factories often have the name brand product go out the front door and the knockoff go out the back door. It wouldn't surprise me if these were built in the same factory on the same plans with only slight differences in materials and build. Nice review and the Badlands looks like a solid product.
Your final words on this video are the reason I enjoy being a viewer of yours. Keep it up Nate. We appreciate the effort you put it.
I love this review. I almost bought an Eagle jack a few years ago, but simply could not justify the price. If indeed they are made in China, Pro Eagle should be embarrassed at the price they charge for their jacks.
I have been very impressed with Harbor Freight lately. Many companies start out making quality products and then figure out how to cut corners once they get popular. HF seems to have taken the exact opposite approach. I hope they stay on this path.
That was absolutely a great review Nate! I really appreciate you talking about the "Made in America" part that really matters to some of us out here. You're absolutely right that I would rather spend $600 on an equal quality jack Made in America over a $300 Chinese jack. Great material Nate!
Are Pro-Eagle Jacks MADE in America or ASSEMBLED in America? They are suspiciously not promoting their manufacturing facilities or locations of orgin... Maybe they manufacture the mounting plates, standard jack accessories, lift extensions, etc. in America... But they definitely aren't machining valves and cylinders for hydraulic jacks... So who and where actually does? 🤔 Although I do prefer American companies that use profits to support people within their market, Pro-Eagle does do that to some extent... Much like Vortex optics, they sell TONS of Chinese glass (and some European/American made products) vs. other brands, but they spend alot of potential profits sponsoring events, competitions, individuals, and charities... I suspect HF will soon adopt similar sponsorship practices if some of these new product lines are wildy successful.
@@berryreading4809 Pro Eagle jacks are "designed in America", manufactured in China. Says Made in China right on the box when you get one.

Well pro Eagle just like HF designed their jack in America and have it built in China
Love the vid, totally agree. I gaurantee that if the pro eagle was actually "Made in the USA" they would have that plastered all over their website as well as on their packaging. Since they don't, we can only assume it's made in China. At the very least it may be designed in the U.S. but made in China. Will definitely be purchasing the Badlands jack
My exact thoughts Joe. If I had a product developed, built in the USA and used USA materials It would be plastered with BUILT IN THE USA.
Thank you for keeping things honest. Really appreciate it!
Casey LaDelle was right! This was the BEST product review...... Thanks for sharing!!
I have three videos I always look forward to on Sunday morning. It’s (in no particular order) Dirt Lifestyle, Fab Rats, and MORR.
So I just got done watching Nate’s video then click on Matt’s and Matt is jacking up the xj with this same harbor freight jack 😂
I've never bought a pro eagle, I couldn't justify how expensive their jacks were. I will be picking up one of these harbor freight jacks. Its good to see another company give Pro Eagle a run for their money.
Throwing the jack out into snow didn't test much. I was thinking you were going to throw it out at 65 onto pavement. it looks like it would survive this just fine though.
Thanks for taking the time to offer an honest review of these two jacks. I have been weighing whether to buy an "off road" jack, mainly because I already have three floor jacks. I'm definitely going to look into buying one now.
Yeah over the past few years Harbor Freight has gone from the place to pick up throw away tools for 1-2 jobs to really making some quality items. My badlands winch has gotten me outta some nasty spots and even drug me about a mile in a dead truck, off a trail. I've been wanting a jack like this cause I don't always wanna break out my "not hi-lift" may have to take a look at this one myself
I have the 3 ton, I hate it. It’s cumbersome and it’s a pain to move around. I use my Pittsburgh 4 ton more often. I really like the handle lockout to then move the jack around that comes on the Badlands. Pro Eagle have priced them out of being competitive.
It's a lost art in reviews anymore, but thanks for an honest straight-to-the-point review. it's easy to pander to the brand one is reviewing to stay on the positive side, but it doesn't do anyone any good in the long run.
Partnerships with up and becoming company /people like Matt’s Off road recovery is why harbor freight is expanding like it is. As an impoverished shade tree mechanic with an Isuzu Trooper I can say I’m not mad
That guy is about to get served again for insurance fraud
Great video brotha! Been rewatching a lot of your videos, a shop update would be awesome Brotha! And if you could do a video on your welding cart build that would be awesome! Great content as always bro!
As always your videos are supreme material, based on this I just purchased this badlands jack! Keep up the good work Nate! Hope to see you at KOH!
I'm not sure how I was recommended your channel but I'm glad I watched this was a good, thorough, honest review of that jack. Subbed for more.
Great review. The quality of Chinese products like this largely comes down to requirements coming from the R&D guys sitting in America. As part of the PPAP a reputable company would require (and verify!) chemical analysis and mechanical strength of the components, good quality seals, adequate precision and surface finish and then perform release testing for durability, chemical resistance (salt spray), high/low temperature function, etc. China can churn out decent stuff when there are very clear requirements and verification by the customer.
I agree with this, coming from the machine tooling and automation industry, the big Chinese machine shops can and will make good parts to exact specs. There is enough competition over there and in the US that if a shop tries to lie/cheat on the print specs, there are 5 more shops that are willing and capable to make the part to print. The company I work for (Complete Control Systems) still makes 99% of our parts in-house but a lot of other machine builders are designing machines, sending print packets to Chinese machine shops and getting back their machines in kit form.
Quality standard is usually up to the company that is buying the product from the manufacturer. These manufacturers have to adhere to whatever standard the buyer/company sets forth. Where it’s made is really a moot point. Hell, I’m typing this on an iPhone made by an underpaid worker in basically a sweat shop and I don’t question the quality of it whatsoever.
Yup. Way back in the day (I don't know if this is still the case) I knew someone that did a teardown of an Oppo phone (this was 2013-2014ish) - it was surprisingly well made, physical design was better than almost any phone on the market.
Too bad their software sucked - Oppo did have some efforts along those regards (including cooperating with Western developer teams) but they suddenly lost interest in catering to Western customers.
With this thing - no software, so THAT problem is solved.
I fully agree. A lot of the Rivian R1T suspension components are made in China.
Great video Nate, was interested in this type of comparison, and the call out to the certification was very interesting. Cheers
I love my Badlands 3 ton Floor Jack good to see you 0:20 @Dirt Lifestyle
Being an owner of a Pro Eagle Jack for the last 3 years or so now, this is a video I was excited to see. I bought it back when it was under $500, so the price difference wasn’t as drastic, but it was still super expensive compared to the harbor freight.
I personally have no idea if the pro eagle is made in America. If it is then I’d love to know and I’d feel a hell of a lot better knowing I spent the money on it. I’m a big fan of the pro eagle, but I do completely agree on your viewpoint in the end.
$500 was worth right around $600 3 years ago
Keep the honest reviews coming. Your genuineness keeps me coming back.
Harbor freight really has stepped up their game the last few years. It's good to see them continue to progress in the quality department rather than just sit idol making profits off of cheap junk. Sears/Craftsman failed because they got greedy by increasing prices and reducing quality. I remember the day that all my newer sockets started splitting only to be really disappointed when I noticed it was now being manufactured in China. Good job calling out Eagle on their potentially over priced Chinese product. Most logical people understand that we can't make everything in the US but we also understand that you need to stay competitive and honest to succeed. Nobody likes paying double for anything of its all riding on the same boat to get here. Another awesome vid and honest review👍🇺🇲
Well said Sir. I will admit that HF has upped their game in the last few years. They seem to be going away from 'good enough' and moving more and more to 'Oh Yeah? Check this out'!
I can’t speak for anyone else, but I’ve been using the Harbor Feight Jacks for a very long time. They’ve always in my opinion been one of there best quality tools. Never had an issue. Have several of the Daytona aluminum low profiles. Excellent jacks.
I just purchased this jack and man this thing is huge !! I have a Nos 3 ton Aluminum Jack for my lowered vehicle and this Badland is a beast next to it! Definitely a good jack so far. Btw I got a 10% discount last week when I purchased . They had a store wide sale and paid $270. Not bad if you ask me!
Harbor freight has been doing such a great job with coming out with new products and putting pressure on competitors. Definitely gonna be getting the Badlands off road jack in the future.
You’re one of my favorite off-road RUclips channels. Keep it up.
I got my first HF floor jack when I turned 17. That was in 1980. A 3 ton with a set of stands. I'm still using them today. I have had to replace the seals a couple times. This new big wheel jack is something I'm going to need to pick up.
Great video. Bought one for working on my 4x4 Tahoe (2006). Have the 1.5 HF jack that you have, but I can't hit the frame with it. So far really impressed.
Very informative. I would absolutely pay more for the same products if they are made in the USA. Point is well taken. Thanks Nate.
I have a HF Jack I purchased while in tech school. It got me through almost two years of wrenching to make money as a side hustle. Still have it to this day and it still works just as good as the day I bought it, bout ten years. Still picks up my full-size bronco and holds still without dropping every single time. I’ll go with the HF Jack on this one. Thanks for the video bud. Mines a steel body, my buddy got a nice aluminum one about same time I got mine. Didn’t last long, they may be better now.
AWESOME video, subscribed. I really like how you show the comment and actually follow through on the request. Makes for a great video for sure!
I am so happy that I bought one at my local HF . It was a “presale” and will be here in mid January. I do a lot of desert and need one.
Thank you Nate. US made is a HUGE deciding factor for me and it should be for any American.
OK. Did you really just run over your jack multiple times for a test??? Absolutely love it. That was awesome. Love your channel, keep up the good content.
Absolutely sold. Definitely appreciate the unbiased and well thought out reviews 👍
Preach. Clear, cut, honesty. We'll happily pay for a higher quality 100% genuine made in the U.S.A.
FACT I have been shopping at Harbor Freight for 35 to 40 years. And at the beginning 97% of the stuff they sold was junk. hey slowly got better over the years. Now 75-80% of what they sell is good and the prices are great. Harbor Freight is consistently hitting Home Runs. Well Done.
This is the perfect example why people like watch and support your channel.
Keeping it real from Washington State 👍👍👍👍
I'm a general contractor and I have tons of tools. Some harbor freight, some Milwaukee and DeWalt. I honestly have harbor freight stuff that has outworked and outlasted the others. For the most part, I totally trust HF
Honesty is the best policy. Sometimes something is not the best if it is the most pricey. Take a date for example, if the date always costs a lot of money is it better than one that costs less?
One thing I would’ve liked to see compared was the weight of each jack. Wasn’t listed on harbor freight’s comparison and I think when I looked up the specs it was a decent difference.
Pro eagle 3 ton is 12lbs lighter
Badland Product Weight 72.66 lb.
I wish I could speak more confidently about this. I just didn't have the 3 ton pro eagle to compare, but the thickness of the frame is definitely one area that will change the weight in a big way. Plus, the front of the Badlands has steel sections for the lateral support that isn't on the pro eagle. This will help keep the jack from folding over if it's on an uneven surface. This is speculation until I see a 3 ton pro eagle, but I think the weight difference comes from extra supporting structure and material thickness.
@@DirtLifestyleHF did some serious research on who they are marketing these products to and how they will be used in the wild
Excellent video. Appreciate your humility and honesty.
I personally detest lots of 3rd party racket tests and totally understand if a company refuses to give ridiculous amounts of money to get a stamp. I think their reputation speaks for itself.
In the business I'm in there's a national private "certification" and I will never give them a dime due to the cons and subpar contractors flying their banner.
That being said, I'd go the badlands route all day if I was in need for another jack.
Very well done Nate, thank you for sharing.
Wish you'd do more 2d hard wheeling vides again.
You should pay better attention to the HF claim shown
@@mattbrew11 I don't live on here, what are you suggesting exactly?
Love your straight up front approach to the reviews. You are right Harbor Freight is actually selling decent products. Yes open your eyes to understand what you are buying but yes a huge shift in quality.
This actually reminds me of the gun industry. Back in the early 2k’s. There was only 1-2 companies doing slide cuts and charging a ridiculous price in comparison to what they are now. They were forced to change. The industry is full with nothing but slide cut companies and they are basically so cheap now.
Great video. I’ll be buying one soon.
Look up grove fab works here in socal. He’s about to come out with a mount for the badland jack you just reviewed.
I like how you were not gentle with the jack. Use it like most knuckleheads do. Great review. I don’t know that I need one, but I might “need” one.
Well this was probably the best comparison video I’ve seen on these. Going to pick the harbor freight Jack up tomorrow! Thanks for the info.
Thanks for being honest. I agree we shouldn’t hate or have ill will towards anyone or anything just because of a difference in opinion. Keep having fun
Great video Nate! Great point what’s the point paying high price if it’s made in china. Harbo Freight badland brand been coming up with great products, been running 12k apex winch on my fj from recovering myself or others and it’s been great and no failures.
Excellent video. Actually considering buying one of these Badlands jacks now.
I would go for badlands. I picked up a long reach Daytona jack a couple years ago and absolutely love it.
Pro Eagles are made in Taiwan.
I had the same question and was surprised to see that in the US they only had a warehouse, no manufacturing. Do they make small batches that are “assembled” in the US for specific government contracts, but all parts come from their manufacturer in Taiwan. I think it’s also written on the boxes too.
I thoroughly enjoy videos similar to this and the maxi track tinkering build. I myself built a poor eagle jack using an aluminum harbor freight 2 ton and pro eagle jack extension. Only regret is i should have used the 3 ton. Thanks for the great content!
Great video with a very honest review. I hope you plan to do more reviews in the future.
Love the honesty. We don’t watch videos to hear manufacturer biases. And yea the Pro Eagles sounds like the are trying to fool people with their American name and site. If it was made in the US it would say so. I’m leaning Badlands right now.
Solid! Def picking up two. NATE....id like to see a review of some jacking jackstands, there great for guys who dont have a lift and cant afford a quick jack. Thanks for the great content happy holidays and best wishes to you and your family!
Thank you for the video and taking all of our crazy testing ideas. I’ve been in the market for one of these this year but had a hard time justifying the Pro Eagle price tag. I appreciate you calling on manufacturers for more transparency. I, too, am happy to pay a premium for Made in U.S.A. products when I can afford it. Sadly, my default assumption is that if they don’t shout about it, then it’s probably not made in America.
And don’t let the haters get to you. If a company is going to be mad at you for being honest, rather than taking the feedback and learning from it, then that just reflects badly on them, not you. Never give up your integrity and never surrender to sell-outs. 🤘
4WD 24/7 is coming to the States and you definitely need to do a collab with them
Great review/comparison! This should be a regular feature on your channel!
They have absolutely stepped they’re game up. I quit wrenching 4 years ago when I I went to management. Now I’m back to wrenching and I am working out of a service truck. So I’ve been eyeballing harbor freight for some cheaper alternatives. I have all the tools I need already. But I don’t want to be losing my expensive stuff on the road. Man, that icon brand is pretty damn sweet. Reminds me a lot of Snap on. Especially their pliers.
Very very good review. This is one of the most honest review i have seen for a long time. Yeah and I do like and respect your request for the country of origin.
Interesting video! I did some research - Pro Eagle is actually a d.b.a. for Austin International Manufacturing, Inc. - who specializes in importing Chinese products into US market. So yeah, pretty safe to say, Pro Eagle is imported. They claim to specialize in Taiwan imports but looking at recent import logs its pretty much all Chinese. Clearly both are buying from the same caster supplier - so if I had to guess the same plant is making both or at least their caster (wheel) supplier isn't far from both assembly plants.
Love the fact that your telling the truth about the jack. Good review 👍...PNW Proud keep up the great job
I didn't even realize that Harbor Freight had a Pro Eagle type of jack. My Harbor freight Pittsburgh low profile jack for over 10 years and it's been absolutely problem free and works great. Great video though and love your view points too.
Nate thanks again for another great review im headed out tomorrow to see if my Harbor Freight has this on the shelf here in Casper Wyoming thanks again keep up the great videos
Dude fantastic video. Thank you for the honesty and for calling out these premium brands
I loved the Pro Eagle but could not justify the price. I purchased a Cat 3 ton for just under $400 and have been very happy with it. This Harbor Freight jack looks like a winner at an even lower price!
