A good tip if you are seeking a particular weapon. The weapon is determined when the ghost soldier renders. If you know where the weapon can spawn, and you save a few steps out of render distance, you can reload to reroll what type of weapon it is, then save right next to it before grabbing it to determine what modifier it gets. I did this with the Gerudo Claymore, but didn’t have enough EXP for it to get any modifier. This means the sensor will not pick up on what the weapon is until the ghost renders, because it doesn’t exist yet(confirmed with said claymore)

Once I figured this out. The game changed immensely for me. Now I only use pristine weapons. I’ve been using and breaking them on lynels. It’s a lot of fun practicing your dodge moves and makes the battles last longer. Things haven’t been changing fast though. I have about 15 spots that I keep track of and only up to soldier gear on most of them some knight claymore( which I love for some reason) and an eightfold blade. I was previously buffing weapons with the octorock technique but this is better. Don’t sleep on these weapons! Use a traveler’s sword vs enemies! It’s fun!
I know you might not see this comment due to being busy, but I just wanted to say how much I love your challenge videos. I've only started watching them recently, and I kid you not, they are so entertaining to me! I really hope you do more of these challenges with Tears of the Kingdom! Keep up the great work, man; I love the content!
This is such good information! I would never have guessed I need to break weapons first to get the pristine versions so it'd be impossible for me to finish the compendium without knowing.
2:44 This may be a bit late to state out but in the gerudo canyon mine (right underneath gerudo summit chasm) there are 3 guarantueed royal guard weapons. The one handed, two handed and the spear.
This is actually a really smart idea on the developers part to stop the ‘master ball problem’ as I like to call it. It encourages players to use all of their weapons and not save certain weapons because they’re good or rare
Yeah but when you have the amiibos and are given pristine weapons that fill your inventory per day and you forget about this mechanic, you have a bad time finding these weapons.
Glad to see content creators that aren't just John Austin Plays making good stuff about this. I kinda prefer this video of yours to his. But one detail John Austin noted: you can reroll the weapons using save scumming. i.e. keep saving/reloading from far enough away from the soldier to keep rerolling the weapon without waiting for a blood moon. VERY helpful.
0:07 Most of the new players might think "It's just a travelers sword whatever. It already sucked it BotW. It doesn't have much damage even though it's pristine" Yes it doesn't have much damage, BUT it has durability. Which is arguably more valuable in TotK because of the fusing mechanic. The pristine travelers sword has more durability than the normal knights broadsword for example. They deal the same damage per hit, but the pristine travelers sword can swing 2 more times before breaking, which can be a lot when fused with a high attack material. TLDR Take all the pristine weapons you can get. They are way more powerful than you might think.
@@collinhauger5018 Remember, the OP was making a comparison between a pristine TRAVELER'S sword and a decayed knight's broadsword. A decayed knight's broadsword has 18 hits of durability, but a PRISTINE Knight's broadsword actually has 27 hits - which is 50% more durable!! From what I've been able to tell based on data in the TotK data sheet, pristine weapons are on average between 20-75% more durable than their decayed counterparts. There's a whole data sheet that Croton posted in the description of their Fuse durability video. Be mindful of spoilers, but it has SOOO much good info!!
I somehow, accidentally clicked on 2 videos at once, and now AI Mario with 3 overlapping voices is playing, all the while it looks like croton made it, it’s beautiful.
This is really handy to know, for some reason I assumed every soldier would hold travelers-royal + whatever regional weapon, but I'm glad to know this just isn't the case. I'll be sure to pick up more royal weapons now as the flurry rush buff is terrifyingly good
Strange how according to the map, pristine Royal Weapons only spawn in Hebra, Highlands, East Hyrule and Eventide, but I recall picking up a pristine Royal Broadsword in Akkala close to the Ancient Tech Lab
I'm not sure about the other maps, but at 2:07 you show the map of where sheikah-style weapons can spawn. It looks like you included points for shadowy figures that don't drop sheikah weapons according to the object map. It was just one or two nearby the secluded colesseum. Not a big deal or anything, I'm sure if/when you do a sheikah or yiga run you'll notice too. Thank you for the great video!
Ive been hard focusing the Zonaite weapons since i just couldn't find the pristine versions of weapons in the depths and because of that Zonaite fused with Captain and Soldier 4 Horns are really the only things that can keep up in damage, but now that im starting to do Lynel hunting I need better weapons. Other guides i found were really vague, so this video is really great for helping me understand how these work
So helpful! I didn’t know this until a couple of days ago when I started to brighten up the depths map. Going to have to find the decayed counterpart above ground tho is gonna be a pain.
Just yesterday I went to find a pristine eightfold blade, and I prepared to reroll modifiers to get attack up, and then I got attack up +10 first try 😂 I was in shock
The trick of discarding the absolute lowest-tier weapons is super useful! This will make my Depths trips way more useful. However, apart from that, I find that in most cases, even midrange pristine weapons are so strong and durable that they perform better than higher-level weapons from the surface. I am willing to just let fate decide. (I also avoided watching or reading about this until I rolled the credits, specifically because I didn’t want to start hyper-optimizing the fun out of my playthrough.)
If you stand near a shadow soldier/ghost offering pedestal without loading the actual soldier/ghost, save, and go near it to check it out, you can reload the save if you see a weapon you don't want and get a new one.
I noticed something strange about a pristine knight's claymore. When the soldier's ghost was holding it, I could make out the writing on it well enough to tell that it said "Hyrule [something] Power Wisdom Courage". Then I took it and dropped it and looked at the writing again, and it was a mirror image!
I just force blood moons until I get the weapons I want, really efficient btw, as well, if you are looking for guards and don’t want to look at online maps, just look for a circle with a smaller circle in it.
thanks to your video I got 3 pristine royal broadswords and 1 pristine royal claymore! Thankyou soooo much!!! The interactive map was also extremely helpful and helped me a lot to locate the shadow soldiers containing drop tables of the royal broadswords and royal claymore!
Hey man love your videos! I was wondering if you could talk about which materials replace a weapon's blade, since I noticed that some horns tremendously decrease a weapon's reach (such as a black bokoblin horn on a two handed weapon). Furthermore, you could also talk about the best fusions when it comes to increasing reach.
I just figured out how these work and then you uploaded this, this isn't the first time that's happened either, whenever I got the fierce deity armor GameXplain uploaded, "How to get the Fierce Deity armor in Tears of the Kingdom" It's kind of weird how everytime I get something in this game someone uploads a walkthrough on how to get it
Man, I thought each ghost was tied to a specific weapon Good to know how it works now~! I was kinda sick of seeing so many travelers stuff, when really, I want to be getting Zora stuff
There's also a save loading workaround for which pristine weapon is spawned. IIRC making a save by the nearest lightroot before you approach the desired ghost-soldier will let you reload to get a different weapon.
This is a good technique, although you don't have to save at a lightroot specifically. You just have to be far enough away that the weapon hasn't rendered in yet, which is when the game randomly chooses a weapon and then locks it in until it's picked up.
Idk where to tell ideas for potential challenge runs of totk but when you start doing challenge runs of totk(if you do) a suggestion I have is to try beat the game only using auto build, what I mean by this is only using pre-made builds from the schema stones and yiga schematics, also potentially the two vehicles you can purchase from the yiga hideout
Oh neat, I already assumed you needed to take the weapon to reset it during a blood moon, good to have confirmation. I also now know why I'm struggling to find an untarnished Zora greatsword: I've never found a tarnished one either.
@@Croton Alright thanks! Kinda curious about the numbers but im a decomp nerd myself so i can find those on my own, and thanks again for all the info! super cool stuff
I'm spending time in the Depths in my current playthrough. I have to go down there occasionally, to find some of these weapons, just so that I have a decent amount of strong weapons available. And plus, I make money through collecting as many poes as possible, it's quite lucrative.
The fact that pristine traveler/soldier weapons appear more common than pristine knight/royal/royal guard weapons in the depths early game is most likely the same way that red/blue enemies are more common early game than black/silver enemies
Pristine are great starting to soldier ones, don't sleep on them. Their damage value is greater than you think. Royal are my fav tho, because of the flurry rush ability Zora ones are also pretty good, and the shiekah ones are amazing. (I tend to use the small one for one shooting every mob in the game that can be sneak striked, the large one, just add elemental horn, and they're even better) As for the other weapons i collect like pristine traveller of i have free slot, just use them for mining, nice durability
Croton, you can actually re-roll a weapon with out waiting untill the next blood moon. I always update my game and something happened to me as I was looking for pristine weapons: I saw a ghost like that and then ran directly to it, then grab it and it was a Long throw Guard Claymore, then i re roled it, but it was to late, so I charged my past save and then aproached again to see a travellers sword, then I knew it can be re rolled ONLY AND ONLY IF THE GHOST HASN'T SPAWN YET, ther's a render distance where the rocks spawn but not the ghost or the weapon, so they can be re rolled.

It’s fun!
I had a 17 might pristine Traveler’s Sword once. Was pretty fun.
Quick tip: The decayed versions of the Soldier's, Knight's, and Royal Broadswords can all be found in Lookout Landing
I'm happy to hear you enjoy them!! 😄 They were all a blast to do, and I can't wait to start doing Tears of the Kingdom runs soon!!
@@Croton Have fun with them, and best of luck! 😊
Great source my bro didnt know how to find prisitine weapons but with your help then he can find them now
Thank you so much! Someone said not to get the poor weapons and ive been stuck with then forever, finally a perfect explanation, thank you!
I love it, Stats of the Wild turned into Stats of the Kindom 😂
I know, i can buy the photos, but i want to take each photo myself, so this video is EXTREMELY helpful
The one handed, two handed and the spear.
also, to force a bloodmoon, shoot 5 shots of opals fused to arrows from a 5-shot lynel bow at the rocks in the akkala house of bones
Huh? Really?
Need to try that.
Great video, Croton! Thank you for sharing this great information with us.
Of course, happy you found it helpful!!
I've been doing a slow, mostly apoiler free playthrough, and I've just watched this at the perfect time. Thank you very much!
Literally the only difference is 2 more hits?😢
Thank you Croton, this was a great explainer, a nicely structured how-to guide. Thanks for the link to the object map too!
Happy you found it helpful!! No problem 😄
you actually explained the mechanics better than every other youtuber thanks!
I somehow, accidentally clicked on 2 videos at once, and now AI Mario with 3 overlapping voices is playing, all the while it looks like croton made it, it’s beautiful.
Super helpful! Thank you! I'm trying to 100% this game and in order to do so, I have to discover every item in the game (this includes weapons).
Now this random info that I couldn't find anywhere else is why I subbed
yo scam
This is really handy to know, for some reason I assumed every soldier would hold travelers-royal + whatever regional weapon, but I'm glad to know this just isn't the case. I'll be sure to pick up more royal weapons now as the flurry rush buff is terrifyingly good
Strange how according to the map, pristine Royal Weapons only spawn in Hebra, Highlands, East Hyrule and Eventide, but I recall picking up a pristine Royal Broadsword in Akkala close to the Ancient Tech Lab
Your memory must be wrong then since this is datamined information
arent you confusing it with a certain classic sword...?
It was likely a Knight's Broadsword and you're misremembering.
I mean that is also in East hyrul both labs are in eastern hyrule
Also it never said it spawns anywhere else in Eastern hyrul other than eventide an maybe the far side of the central bunch
Honestly had no idea why i was only finding basic weapons when i did most of my light roots. This explains a lot and i really appreciate this video
I’ve been marking each spot down, and leaving them for a stash if I needed them. Now I will just be picking them up as I go, thanks!
Oh. That's really interesting. I love the dept to which every mechanic is given
Ive been hard focusing the Zonaite weapons since i just couldn't find the pristine versions of weapons in the depths and because of that Zonaite fused with Captain and Soldier 4 Horns are really the only things that can keep up in damage, but now that im starting to do Lynel hunting I need better weapons. Other guides i found were really vague, so this video is really great for helping me understand how these work
thank god someone i can actually stand to listen to explaining this, croton you are the final say in dissection of zelda mechanics
Oh so that's how it works... The more I learn about how stuff in Tears works, the more annoyed I get, haha.
So helpful! I didn’t know this until a couple of days ago when I started to brighten up the depths map. Going to have to find the decayed counterpart above ground tho is gonna be a pain.
You can use the TotK Object Map to find the decayed weapons in the same way you can find the pristine weapons.
Just yesterday I went to find a pristine eightfold blade, and I prepared to reroll modifiers to get attack up, and then I got attack up +10 first try 😂 I was in shock
That's some awesome luck ⚔️
You can also get the non corrupted version on surface
@@Dado_nastro Only the 2 handed eightfold longblade, not to be confused with the 1 handed eightfold blade
@@Dado_nastro speaking of that, I also worked hard to get a pristine eightfold long blade, only to get one from a quest very soon after
I never knew the weapons only got rerolled when you picked them up, this is a real life saver!
Thank you for this now I can finally understand the system behind the weapons
I noticed something strange about a pristine knight's claymore. When the soldier's ghost was holding it, I could make out the writing on it well enough to tell that it said "Hyrule [something] Power Wisdom Courage". Then I took it and dropped it and looked at the writing again, and it was a mirror image!
I just force blood moons until I get the weapons I want, really efficient btw, as well, if you are looking for guards and don’t want to look at online maps, just look for a circle with a smaller circle in it.
love the choice of my castle town as the background music
Thank you Croton, this is incredibly helpful. Have a great day!
You are my hero. I've hungered for this information.
thanks to your video I got 3 pristine royal broadswords and 1 pristine royal claymore! Thankyou soooo much!!! The interactive map was also extremely helpful and helped me a lot to locate the shadow soldiers containing drop tables of the royal broadswords and royal claymore!
This is so much more helpful that Austin John plays’ vid. Thank you.
Good point! I haven't even tested all possible combos yet myself, but this could be cool to look into! 😄
One good candidate if you want reach is a blue lizalfos horn! They are quite long, and not bad as a fusion at 16 fuse attack (w/o a modifier ofc)
I just figured out how these work and then you uploaded this, this isn't the first time that's happened either, whenever I got the fierce deity armor GameXplain uploaded, "How to get the Fierce Deity armor in Tears of the Kingdom"
It's kind of weird how everytime I get something in this game someone uploads a walkthrough on how to get it
Man, I thought each ghost was tied to a specific weapon
Good to know how it works now~! I was kinda sick of seeing so many travelers stuff, when really, I want to be getting Zora stuff
I can't imagine the research this must've took! Amazing video, this got more interesting than I thought
omg this was extremely helpful!! I thought they worked like treasure chests so I was saving them!!
That's what I thought too at first!! I even pinned the ones that were good because I didn't know how they worked initially 😅
Oh wow, didn't know about the decayed breaking requirement, thanks for the useful information! Just started a second play through!
wow, I had no idea, I've only been seeing traveller weapons! thanks croton!
YOU CAN ULTRAHAND THE WEAPONS OUT OF THEIR HANDS!!! i've been doing this cos i got sick of dropping a weapon all time
Oh I just pick it up then chuck it lmao
Small time optimizations add up!
This is so cool. Love the idea of the ghosts of your broken weapons coming back to you
Idk where to tell ideas for potential challenge runs of totk but when you start doing challenge runs of totk(if you do) a suggestion I have is to try beat the game only using auto build, what I mean by this is only using pre-made builds from the schema stones and yiga schematics, also potentially the two vehicles you can purchase from the yiga hideout
You have earned a sub with this video in the first 30 seconds
I just got this game recently and I didn't even realize the weapons held by the ghosts were pristine.
Oh neat, I already assumed you needed to take the weapon to reset it during a blood moon, good to have confirmation.
I also now know why I'm struggling to find an untarnished Zora greatsword: I've never found a tarnished one either.
You’re doing good work for the kingdom, brother. Thank you for your service.
Challenge Runs are gonna be wild🔥
Good to hear. Compendium filling to do yknow.
Thank you that's very informative I've been working my ass off trying to find the the royal guard claymore.
4:41 I'm already using all my skull pins to mark every boss I encounter in the game 😅
This really helped me cuz I wanted to find a royal claymore and I found it!
I had absolutely no idea this is how the ghosts worked!
Welp, I'm off to farm pristine Zora spears now.
So that's why I'm still missing a particular pristine weapon from the camera dex. Cheers Croton (and Echocolat) ^_^
those "ghosts" freaked me out the first time I encountered them xD
So glad to see you making these kinds of videos again! It's the reason I subscribed.
Finally! Another stats video! Thanks Croton!
clicked expecting to actually find out what's different about pristine weapons (which I still don't understand) but this is just as useful
They just deal more damage and have more durability than their decayed counterparts!!
I’m hearing deltarune castle town music and it’s making me feel comfy
The fact that pristine traveler/soldier weapons appear more common than pristine knight/royal/royal guard weapons in the depths early game is most likely the same way that red/blue enemies are more common early game than black/silver enemies
I'm like an information goblin. Whenever I see a stats of the kingdom video I can't help but click it.
Pristine are great starting to soldier ones, don't sleep on them. Their damage value is greater than you think.
Royal are my fav tho, because of the flurry rush ability
Zora ones are also pretty good, and the shiekah ones are amazing. (I tend to use the small one for one shooting every mob in the game that can be sneak striked, the large one, just add elemental horn, and they're even better)
As for the other weapons i collect like pristine traveller of i have free slot, just use them for mining, nice durability
Dude, ive been walking right past these things. Didnt know you could get the weapons
Croton, you can actually re-roll a weapon with out waiting untill the next blood moon.
I always update my game and something happened to me as I was looking for pristine weapons:
I saw a ghost like that and then ran directly to it, then grab it and it was a Long throw Guard Claymore, then i re roled it, but it was to late, so I charged my past save and then aproached again to see a travellers sword, then I knew it can be re rolled ONLY AND ONLY IF THE GHOST HASN'T SPAWN YET, ther's a render distance where the rocks spawn but not the ghost or the weapon, so they can be re rolled.
Thank you croton
This information are perfect! Just need to find the last prestine weapons for the 100% and I couldn't find them ^^
This may explain why I keep finding basic weapons. I've been leaving them alone since I first came down to the depths.
can't afford totk for a while, but this is so helpful for when I can!
