Hi Maangchi, I work at a university in central London. My students come from all over the world and I look after them making sure they are ok and studying well to get good grades. I always tell my students to eat well and remind them that being in a foreign country doesn’t mean they should eat bad food. I’ve directed them to your channel and can honestly say they always come back two weeks later looking happy and feeling better after explaining they miss home and don’t like the food here. Thank you. You’re the surrogate mother to me and all my students and really help them look after themselves in a cheap and nutritious way.

My mother was Japanese and my sister and I grew up eating omurice. A very close variant of your recipe and this video brought back many meal preps helping my mother way back in the early to late 60’s. I still make this to this day, my kids and grandkids have all enjoyed this timeless old recipe. I have all the ingredients to make your version so I will make it this weekend. Thank you so much for your amazing and step by step videos. I have made so many of your dishes over the years.
When I was first stationed with the US Army in Korea ('68-'69) my Platoon Hootch was right next to the KATUSA Club, where our Korean Auxiliaries could go for goodies. We were not allowed in there, but out the back door the cooks would sell us what I thought was called "Home Rice", and it only cost 10¢ for a big plateful!! I've tried to recreate it for myself over the years, but never was able to. First off, because I thought the rice mixture was dumped into the egg, instead of the other way around. Also, since I had the name wrong, I had no way of figuring out the correct ingredients. I was always happy with the meals I made, but they were never quite what I remembered. NOW, here we go! Thanks so much!!
So I'm half Mexican and half Korean but I mostly live with my Mexican mother so watching and trying this really made me feel a little bit closer to my fathers side! Plus it was delicious!

Hello Maangchi! Hope you are well! Made this last night for my family and it was SO GOOD. I didn't have enough green peppers so I chucked in some chopped sugar snap peas and a little cabbage. I think this is a very flexible recipe and you could sub whatever veggies you have and whatever meats and cheeses. At first I was hesitant and going slow to do it all properly but eventually got into into the flow and was less concerned. People, this is an easy, forgiving recipe and most of all delicious! And very filling!
Apart from the yummy and easy-to-follow recipe, I always like that your videos are so colourful and high quality. Whenever I'm in a sour mood I will always watch your videos- and my mood instantly boosts! Thankssss Maangchi!
Wow, just done making this, I am a vegetarian so I used soya sausage instead of the meat sausage and experiment with some Indian spices and the tip that you gave with the cheese is a blessing!! You hooked me to cooking Korean cooking! Thank you 🤗
I am new to your channel! You are so cute! I can hardly wait to try this! I am a grandmother of two, and I want to teach my granddaughter about different cultures. ? 💕
I just discovered this little jewel of a channel, once I started watching, I ended up watching for several hours!! I absolutely adore Maangchi, so sweet, so friendly, like someone who can be your friend. She is a great chef also, her food all looks delicious, I want to try it soon!
I just made this with some frozen vegetables from my freezer! It was very easy with an impressive presentation. Made me really happy during my shelter in place!
I'd never seen anyone like this woman. Now that we are locked up at home, I watch a lot of cooking videos, the moment I saw your video, it delighted me. You have so much of pure love and charm. I love your ehmmm sound when u taste the food. Love you ❤️ I got some ingredients for myself last weekend, I'm gonna try ur recepie.
Made this for 5 people last night and everybody loved it! I used chorizo and still turned out fine. Only tip I can offer is to not overcook the eggs. It won't lay as nicely on the rice and it doesn't taste as good. Beyond that this is such a delicious and versatile recipe. Easy to make. Thanks maangchi

ur channel is underrated. i love korean food and its so nice to have a channel dedicated to spreading awareness on the culture of korean food. i feel like most ppl only know korean bbq, but theres so much more to korean food than just the bbq! thank you again!
I made this yesterday after watching your video and my family loved it! I posted the pictures on social media and my friends were really curious now I'm going to make it for them next week ;) its gonna be a surprise for them since they don't know i can even fry an egg XD thank you so much! you made cooking for me very interesting.
I have never ever ever ever (and never thought I would) put cheese in fried rice. I tried it today with American Cheese (out of cheddar cheese -.-), BEST DECISION I'VE EVER MADE!!! It goes so well with tomato sauce.
This looks so delicious! This was a really nice instructional video, I have to try it! I am European so I don't know a lot about cooking with a lot of spices and different vegetables and such. Here it is mostly potatoes, cabbage and some sort of meat. BUt I want to learn more about the so called "Asian" cuisine (I know, there are probably a lot of differences between the many dishes served in Asian countries, but it's like European food: it is not so different after all ;) ).And you are just the cutest person ever! I could watch your videos all day long :) I love that headpiece you are wearing.
Thank you Maangchi! I'm a French student and I don't have that much time nor money to spend on cooking, so your recipe is perfect! And it's absolutely delicious! Yum!
Hello Mangchi! ^_^ I made this for lunch today! Everyone loved it so much. I did keep it vegetarian for a lighter lunch - and served with spicy cucumber salad and kimchi... And I didn't have chunks of cheese so that was also skipped - but I had such fun to cook this recipe - thanks for sharing your experience with is and your sunny personality! I would love if I could cook with you some time ^_^
Hahaha. I spat out the cornflakes I was having for dinner @ this comment. Why I am here then ? Am a terrible cook. I watch the food channel to .... I dunno torture my self. My best bet at having these meals is if mama Maangchi adopts me.
I was feeling very sad until I stumbled across your video with that Sean guy when you were teaching him how to make Korean fried chicken. Then I watched the bibimbap video and then this one. Now I'm not sad anymore. Thank you for brightening up my day. ☺
I've been wanting to try omurice for years now and this is literally the best style/version I've seen so far and it has me drooling so bad. Making this ASAP!! If my heart could sing I'd be famous right now.
I made a very simple version of this (with just onion, ham, rice, and ketchup, with egg of course) and it was delicious! So I'm definitely gonna try this because it looks amazing!😍😁
In Mauritius - we have a similar dish called "bol renversé" translated into "up side down bowl" - however we do it in layers : bowl, omelette, stir fried veg n meat, then rice - pat it down - then put your plate on top to flip back - bowl off et voilà😋🤗
Maangchi. I have to confess you something. There is no other person on this planet who hates cooking and standing in the kitchen for hours as much as myself. I live in England, with loads of boring and bland meals, but I also have to admit I hate most of the "star-chef" dishes as well, they are almost exactly the same. If you tried one, you tried it all. If you watched one American or British cooking show, you have seen all of them. I found you a few days ago and the pureness you have in yourself, also the simplicity of the meals, your kind and honest personality, and how you are this much of a humble person and in the same time you are an excellent cook, just simply amazes me. I found myself do a few of your dishes and it is so tasty, everything. Not too difficult, if you change a few ingredients you can make most of them dieting as well, with a bunch of interesting and exciting flavour. It is something new. Your skills and your completely natural behaviour, the way you don't want to look more than who you actually are, made you my favourite cook on RUclips. Never subscribed to any cooking channel. You are the only one I follow. So thank you so much for your videos. And just stay who you are, it is simply amazing.

Maangchi is it must to have cheddar cheese??
no, you can skip it if you don't like cheese.
Maangchi you even credit the subtitlers? You just might be my new favourite channel!
👍
Hello Maangchi! Hope you are well! Made this last night for my family and it was SO GOOD. I didn't have enough green peppers so I chucked in some chopped sugar snap peas and a little cabbage. I think this is a very flexible recipe and you could sub whatever veggies you have and whatever meats and cheeses. At first I was hesitant and going slow to do it all properly but eventually got into into the flow and was less concerned. People, this is an easy, forgiving recipe and most of all delicious! And very filling!
👏

Apart from the yummy and easy-to-follow recipe, I always like that your videos are so colourful and high quality. Whenever I'm in a sour mood I will always watch your videos- and my mood instantly boosts! Thankssss Maangchi!
I'm very happy to hear that! Cheers!

I just discovered this little jewel of a channel, once I started watching, I ended up watching for several hours!! I absolutely adore Maangchi, so sweet, so friendly, like someone who can be your friend. She is a great chef also, her food all looks delicious, I want to try it soon!

JYOTI DAS Same. This was great. I added Chaat Masala too.
Arisha loves Brendon Urie and BTS next time I will try adding chat masala . Thnx
Maangchi thnx
I'm black my husband from India and my sister in law name is also Jyoti. LOL
Sounds great!
Eggs should never be over cooked
I cooked it is very tasty ( I am eleven ) my mum was glad . Thank you very much ☺

: ) Cheers to our non-stick pans!
ThePrankDudes my mom does it too 😂😂😂
I am new to your channel and I am 11 years old. I now know why people love your channel!😁😊
I have never ever ever ever (and never thought I would) put cheese in fried rice. I tried it today with American Cheese (out of cheddar cheese -.-), BEST DECISION I'VE EVER MADE!!! It goes so well with tomato sauce.
I'm so happy to hear that! Happy cooking!
I just stumbled upon this channel, what is this absurdly adorable and super skilled woman ? She's the best.
Alisen12 wtf europe is not about potatoes and meat xD mediterranean diet is a thing too. Spain, italy, france, greece... we are europe as well!
anyone else watching this amazing recipe while fasting?
Tiggera FF hahahaha meeee

Thank you Maangchi! I'm a French student and I don't have that much time nor money to spend on cooking, so your recipe is perfect! And it's absolutely delicious! Yum!
Hello Mangchi! ^_^
I made this for lunch today!
I would love if I could cook with you some time ^_^
Wonderful!
I made it today for my boyfriend. Big mistake he wants it everyday now!! Thank you 😁
At least he’s happy
Este frumos :3
Andra Mateiescu woah, ce tare! Trebuie sa incerc si eu! E super femeia aceasta!

Welcome to my cooking channel!

I've been wanting to try omurice for years now and this is literally the best style/version I've seen so far and it has me drooling so bad. Making this ASAP!! If my heart could sing I'd be famous right now.

ghorar dim me too, I love her personality
ghorar dim I am also from Bangladesh
You are the cutest, sweetest lady!! I love your cooking videos. It's like being in the kitchen with mom.
Awww! Thanks a lot for your nice words!
this is the kind of wholesome content i was looking for !
