    I love it! This is so exciting. I couldn't wait to see. I just have to feel better and get back to France. I spent a lot of😮 time there over the last 35 years. Paris but also much of the countryside. I looked at property but just couldn't pull the trigger. What a wonderful retirement I would have now. Anyway I WILL be back😊 France is the Love of my Life. Thank you for these wonderful videos. I remember early in my trips to France I learned that most wonderful word Brocante ❤ When you talked about it I remembered the excitement then and now to visit a Brocante.

    • @frenchfarmhouseflair
      @frenchfarmhouseflair  8 месяцев назад

      Hopefully it was just a one time bad experience for us. When we come to France it’s usually just for a couple of weeks at a time. When we place an order we make sure that it will arrive during that time period. We count on it being there when it says it will be there, because we plan out what projects we will work on before we fly to France. We know that we have a limited time to work on those projects and complete them. This time it didn’t go as planned because Amazon didn’t deliver as planned & promised. I was just explaining why it didn’t work out, and why we had to change plans at the last minute. Hopefully it won’t happen again in the future! 🤗

Very rustic and country with a nod to Victorian and Americana design as well. I know I want everything! So happy to see this progress Jessica! You've turned this into such a beautiful space! I love all the brocante (of course!). Can you please let us know how the gold / laiton paint holds up on the drain in the sink? I'm planning on doing the same thing for my kitchen! I have also gotten the same rods at Ikea to hang pots and pans. Anxiously waiting for our renovation to progress. Yes I know how much effort and time goes in and admire how much you get done while only being here for a few days or weeks each time you come. It looks like Mr French Farmhouse is a professional builder? Just wanted to make sure you know you shouldn't seal stone walls. They need to breathe to avoid humidity issues. Also never point them using cement, but I think I saw you using chaux and sand when you repointed the walls so that's perfect. Anything "imperméable" or "imperméabilisant" you want to avoid on your walls. The floors look amazing too! What a difference! Congratulations on all the progress, the house will be gorgeous!

    • @frenchfarmhouseflair
      @frenchfarmhouseflair  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you so much Marloes! I love brocante too!! Yes, I’ll have to let you know how the gold paint holds up. I’ll give an update later on that. Yes, we are only there for usually 2 weeks at a time. We try to get as much done as possible while we are there. My husband is a professional and has been in the building/construction for years. His knowledge and expertise is coming in handy for all the projects! He would love to get work in France, and so he is working on learning the language as am I. I think you’ve mentioned the babel app on your channel before. Do you recommend it for learning French? We are always looking for a good way for learning the French language. Any suggestions would be appreciated!😊

    • @FrenchCountryLife
      @FrenchCountryLife 7 месяцев назад

      oh yes it’s such a blessing when you have knowledge and experience in building. It makes such a project so much less overwhelming.
      Your husband will have too much work once he decides to offer his services in construction here. There is so much demand! And he could focus on Dutch, English and other anglophones as well. The babbel app (or any other language learning app) is definitely a good and fun way to start learning a language. Pronunciation is key to being understood in France and so what I would personally advise is to start with that as it is easy and doable to make time for it in your daily life. Then when you reach a certain level I would recommend doing live classes or any way of actually speaking French with a native person to learn to have real conversations and have someone guide you in getting your pronunciation right. Also learning about the cultural differences will be highly beneficial. The way the French do business is completely different to the way the Dutch or Americans do business so if he plans to work with other local professionals and French people it is crucial to learn about that.

    • @frenchfarmhouseflair
      @frenchfarmhouseflair  7 месяцев назад +1

      @FrenchCountryLife Thank you for sharing your advice! I thought I would ask you because your French is so good.😊 Your English is really good as well. You amaze me that you can speak Dutch, English, and French! 👏

    To my eye, the cord for the over sink light would look better, if it was positioned to the left into the corner. Of course, I don't know where the outlet is located ;) Also, French Cleats are great for hanging heavier items like your wood upper hutch plate rack.

      Hello, the stove was by the refrigerator. We also have a toaster oven as well sitting on top of the stove.

    I would need at least a plate drying rack but you have no room for one. Except above the sink where you could hang one. I would move the fridge across the kitchen so I could have another cabinet for stuff next to the stove.

    Use a plastic cord cover paint it to match the stone

    The cord from your lamp should be hidden running it in the crevasses between the stones. In the future, place the light fixtures before repointing the stones. Then point over the cord. Caché!

      Yes, we should’ve done it that way in hindsight. We weren’t sure if we wanted to put it back where it originally was above the fireplace or move it above the sink. It was originally covered with a cord cover so we didn’t think about that until it was too late unfortunately. Thank you!😊

    Need more counter space on either side of the oven

      Yeah, we may add more counter space. We also need to add a pantry cabinet and dining room hutch.

    Looks good but why cover the brick wall. I think i would have moved the kitchen to the boring wall and put a nice wood table in front of the fireplace so you can see the rocks. in my brain the kitchen is backwards. Nice to see the new colors and not the yellow. Much more airy.

      We didn’t want to move the plumbing. It would’ve been very costly to do that. The dining table is right across from the cozy fireplace. I plan on putting a dining room hutch/cabinet on the boring wall.

    Need counter space or worktops and uppers

      @frenchfarmhouseflair  7 месяцев назад

      Yes, we probably do. It is a small European unfitted kitchen, but we plan on adding some open shelving etc.

    Why would you place the kitchen in the fireplace wall? It would have been gorgeous and more logic in the opposite wall and leave the beautiful fireplace as a focal point.

      We didn’t place it there because we wanted it there. It was the original layout of the kitchen. We left it the same because of the plumbing being on that stone wall. Assuming it would be possible to move the plumbing it would’ve been very costly! We plan on putting a French country hutch cabinet on the blank wall by the dining table.
