Because this section is so short, I like how much this remix pops compared to the original since it really feels good having this music fade in. Singapore Speedway is a masterpiece.
Maybe race on 50 cc for once if you don't ever do that. I had the same opinion when it came to the music for the winter version of the Animal Crossing track, so that was the only time I would play on 50 cc. (The music there felt very fitting for a 50 cc race too, btw.)
I'm convinced the track diverts into Chinatown on lap 3 _just_ so we can hear this part of the song one more time. It's a lot punchier than the _Tour_ version.
ALL these remixes clear the Tour version! SOme songs I litearlly mute my phone in Tour are some of my favorites in MK8. (LA Laps....prime example. I hate the singing in it but MK8 replaced the singing with some horn and made the base line more pronounced).
Small fun fact: The entrance gate to the Chinatown area says: "牛车水" (Pinyin: Niúchēshuǐ) which translates to "ox-cart water." First of all, this phrase uses simplified Chinese characters, which are common in Mainland China compared to the traditional Chinese characters used in Taiwan. Additionally, this phrase is a reference to how the Chinatown in Singapore had its water transported to it via ox carts.
The way they use countermelodies in this variation is jaw droppingly amazing. The instruments start in sync, then split off and do their own thing partway through, only for them to slowly come back together as it builds up to play the main melody again, neat stuff.
While I was playing online, I got to that exact part of the track (and therefore this song) on 150cc. Not impossible to do it on every speed, and that's good
The way this fades in when you enter this section is so clean and natural especially when you play on 100cc or 150cc and then that buildup happens right as you enter
@@TacoLogan08 I didnt even know about the music leak, even if I did tho I wouldn't care cuz I don't like looking at leaks and *like* to *actually* be *surprised*
This is what I expect from Nintendo! Love and effort in every detail, everywhere. Stellar job to everyone who worked on this, this is what we like to see!
I can’t help but feel that the original Tour version pulled off the Chinatown-specific instruments better even if I overall prefer the new version of the music in general Edit: this new version is kinda starting to grow on me
The original Tour version has an overall more quiet and mysterious feel to it with its instrument usage, focusing more on the traditional Chinese aspects of the area. The 8 Deluxe version on the other hand is very bold and ecstatic with its instrument usage, focusing more on the bustling atmosphere of the area.
I wonder why they even bother making the intro part of the music (0:00-0:14) if it’s impossible to hear that in game or get to that part of the map within 14 seconds..(unless it is somehow possible…)
the chorus feels very noisy (which is a staple of festive Chinese music but not sure if that's intentional?), as someone else said as well the B section has oddly brief notes on the Erhu, but honestly a much more alive than the Tour version. If the chorus was quietened down it'd be amazing. What's CRIMINAL is how on the standard variant's B section they changed the beautiful Pokemon Mystery Dungeon-esque watery keyboard notes to much rougher synth notes. Not that it sounds bad, but definitely not as good
this track made me hate the lightning item even more because lightning ruins the music (already very bad on this map) and sometimes it ruins the music for the ENTIRE Chinatown portion of the track >^

Singapore Speedway should hang in an art gallery imo
Sadly I only get shocked on that part of the track

Peach gardens I’d argue. Like the main Singapore Speedway theme got its best feature (the vocals) from Tour.
@@veebot75 peach gardens was the weakest of that wave
@@goalhornstudios8426 even music wise? Cause that’s what I’m referring to.

I disagree. It’s one of the biggest downgrades in music. The Chinatown version was upgraded in 8 deluxe but the normal version was downgraded.
I'm convinced the track diverts into Chinatown on lap 3 _just_ so we can hear this part of the song one more time. It's a lot punchier than the _Tour_ version.

When playing on 50cc, the song is timed perfectly when entering the chinatown area. If you drive well enough, the song will start at 1:00
