THIS is Why I'm BUYING a FERRARI PUROSANGUE! My First Drive

  • This is the new Ferrari Purosangue and everything you want to know about it! With a Purosangue on order myself, this is one I'm really excited about. It's a car that arrives to some very high expectations, so let's find out how it stacks up with a full tour and first drive!
The Purosangue is perhaps an SUV by category, but it really isn't as a car. In fact it slots into a unique market position with a transaxle mid-engine configuration that is rather one of a kind, and brings an NA V12 with an even more practical form factor than ever before from Maranello. My particular example for the day is finished in Rosso Portofino over Charcoal interior, alongside some Blu Corsa examples in the Italian Dolomites.
As the successor to the GTC4Lusso, and in fact having owned an FF, plus a pair of Lussos, it's a very natural progression within my garage, so this is not only an opportunity to understand more about the car and share that with you, but also for myself to discover a future arrival in my garage.
Visually, Purosangue is also quite unique in its form factor with the lifted platform yet sporting an extended bonnet to house the 6.5 litre V12 that produces 725hp. The lower sections including wheel arch surrounds separate the driving components from the bodywork, with an appearance furthering that of the recent introductions from Ferrari.
We're in a very familiar part of Italy, home to the Trento-Bondone hillclimb course and the ski resort of Vason, where I've been many times and in fact visited with my GTC4Lusso less than a year prior. This time around though we'll take a full look inside-out at the new car to find out all about it from the new dashboard displays, to the HVAC toggle, rear seats, luggage space, and of course crucially going for a drive to experience the car on the roads.
My conclusion is that we should not look at the Ferrari Purosangue as an SUV, but instead it needs to be considered as a Ferrari grand tourer, that has been made more practical. It sounds like an 812 Superfast, it drives like an improved GTC4Lusso, and it happens to bring rear doors and plenty of space with it. Needless to say, I'm really quite excited for mine to arrive!
    Thanks for watching, Tim

Despite all the regulations we have these days, Ferrari still managed to keep the v12 alive for a bit longer, and that I think is one of the greatest achievements of a car manufacturer. They keep the petroheads happy, their exclusive customers, that are always goint to apreciate the v12.

Having said that I like it and it is way way more practical for daily use then even lets say the PortofinoM. Thanks for all the details. I get why they don't want to call it an SUV. Put up next to other SUVs in the price range it might seem like it's a bit lacking in the utility side and it definitely aligns more with their standard supercars. But I don't think they need to shy away from it as well. The intent is to be more a more daily-able Ferrari with better utility. While decently unique in the "SUV" segment, it definitely sits well in that space.
Stunning vehicle though. I really like the philosophy behind it, almost like being a different kind of hybrid vehicle with usability or emotion being the variable rather than an electric/petrol powertrain. Being a vehicle that can go head to head with any supercar, or go to school to drop the kids off. A lot of vehicles act like they can do both, but this really fits the bills it seems. Excited for more content on this beast!

@@Shmee150 That's an excellent point about the mechanics. That's really the major thing that separates it. And I agree, the Urus feels like an extremely expensive SQ8 package. I've never felt like it really lives up to the Lamborghini name.
This Ferrari, however, absolutely lives up to the name. It actually looks the part, and appears to feel the part as well. Ticks all the boxes, just has a bit more space as you said. If not an SUV, I expect it to at least steal some buyers shopping around in that market. Maybe. Again, it's definitely priced more like a flagship Ferrari supercar and competes in that space more than anything.

The most beautiful suv I've ever seen. For many the measures are not SUV because they do not understand that the lines are designed to streamline ... And also make a square SUV went in spite of consumption but above all performance. Ferrari did not have to fight with any rival and the SUV was made only to better serve its customers not to enter the SUV world and get yourself out of situations and hangings by being blissfully on a Ferrari . Many imagined a land rover or a jeep with the Ferrari brand

Ferrari doesn't make cars in large numbers, my friend. Also, for some models, the wait time is years. The people who are getting these are the most loyal and patient customers. They've been waiting a long time for this baby to be ready. Everyone can't buy a new Ferrari. It's a lengthy process where having the money doesn't guarantee you'll get one. They are very selective of who they sell new cars to. And rightfully so. What a brand.....

I've always loved Ferrari's more utility based models. The FF, and then the GTC4 Lusso were super desirable in my eyes because of their practicality while not sacrificing much on performance. I know alot of people think the Purosangue is blasphemous, but I think it's awesome as well. I will say I wish they made it a bit bigger - that rear seat area looks very tight!
