"Dont insult me by talking like a character on a videogame marc" No wonder he uses the mask. He has to hide the tears and hideous burns this therapist inflicts on him.
That Monologue shows you just what people are missing out in comics. Comics certainly have more freedoms to talk about deeper & controversial concepts. That are gate kept from general audiences in the MCU. That all being said. MoonKnight proves he is nothing like Batman.
it sucks tbh, it turns him from a noble and principled hero to a loser that only clings to being moon night because otherwise he's a nobody, and that's what the therapist wanted to hear, but that's bullshit, we see it being disproven the very next (or intertwining) scene.
Wow. I never put together that Marc Spector was actually Jewish. I’ve only ever been tangentially aware of the character, knew his origin story and all the writers who focused on his DID, but as someone who grew up feeling like a bad Jew this is such an incredible side of the character to learn about
It is, and it's nice to see a Jewish character that's, well, not screaming at everyone "HEY I'M JEWISH" especially without reason or to use that for dispickable means. His a person, a person who's made mistakes they regret down to their bones.... Welp that's my whole spill, good day to you!
@@theyoungfool.1895 It's nice to see a character of any heritage or religion and have that play into their character. Daredevil and Nightcrawler are both devout Catholics, but we see that play into very different aspects of their personality. Daredevil plays more into the "Catholic guilt" side of things, while Nightcrawer's Christianity steers him more toward hope and compassion. And then we have Dust of the X-men, who is a Sunni Muslim and they have gone into what that means for her. The character's religion/heritage is not their defining feature, but it does help inform their personality. I wish this was something comics and other media did more often.
This actor's performance for Marc Spector really makes me think Jensen Ackles could pull off an amazing animated Moon Knight. The delivery reminds me so much of some of his monologues in Supernatural
Spoilers for the Disney+ series: It would actually make sense for them to do a scene like this (in a season 2 maybe?) The fact that his dad was a gentle rabbi in the comics. and Marc grew angry at his pacifism, would translate well to the MCU show. It could be that his father was so non-confrontational that he never protected Marc from his mother’s abuse. And that could lead into the thirst for pro-action and vengeance this comic explains. To clarify, I am still glad the show didn’t go with “Marc’s D.I.D came from a violent neo-nazi attack” like the comics usually do, because the disorder doesn’t form after one instance of trauma. It forms with constant repeated trauma in childhood. But since the first season dove into his D.I.D, the second season diving into his Jewish heritage like this comic would work really well. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking but I hope they do it.
The fact Steven doesn't connect with their father shows just how little Silas meant to Marc though. He just wasn't worthy in Marc's mind for Steven to care for or be concerned about unlike Wendy, whom Marc desperately wanted to love him. I imagine Steven would have questions about why he feels no connection to their father and Marc would be explaining it to him rather than a therapist. If anything...Jake probably holds the connection to Silas...he is Marc's anger after all.
They can never do this in the Disney+ show because the writers of that show have made it crystal clear that they do not like the comics. And it shows since the TV show is a horrible adaptation of them. Also, Marc's father in the show wasnt a rabbi. Fucking hell, despite how important Marc's Judaism is to his character, it was relegated to a fucking easter egg in the show. What a joke. I hate the live action Moon Knight show.
Marc’s Monologue along with music really drags you in your voice acting is just the cake ontop. It really allows you to understand how much Marc thinks of himself as a hypocrite and coward for forsaking his faith

I really love these dubs, and I don't want to seem rude or pedantic, but as someone with DID myself there's a common error in pronunciation I wanted to point out, because I think it fundamentally changes the way people understand the framework of structural dissociation that causes DID and many of the symptoms we with DID (and Moon Knight, as well!) experience day to day. The "dissociate" in Dissociative Identity Disorder is pronounced diss-ohs-ee-ate, and not like the word disassociate (pronounced diss-uh-sohs-ee-ate) that is used by Mark and the doctor in the dub. This may seem small, but it's a really big difference that does matter. The former means to become psychologically separated or detatched, in the case of DID this is often in relation to your sense of self and identity (depersonalization), surrounding environment, people, relationships, and objects (derealization), or lapses in biographical memory (dissociative fugue/ dissociative amnesia). The presence of severe dissociation for extended periods of time during early brain development, usually due to severe childhood trauma, is what causes the development of memory lapses and different "personalities", otherwise known as alters or ego states. The latter term simply means to not associate with or attatch to in a much more vague sense, and it's something people with DID don't have much of an issue with outside of the aforementioned, related symptoms, or social/environmental context. This is a REALLY important difference in understanding how DID functions for people with the disorder and destigmatizing the symptoms that result from our structural dissociation. Hope this helps!

I grew up in a neo-fundamentalist Christian household but don't believe that stuff anymore. But I still sometimes wonder if God is watching me and ready to throw the book at me.
I suppose that all depends on how many "sins" you've accumulated in your life and refuse to repent for. Based on the stories, you're in for a rough afterlife if that's the case.
There's a podcast that did an interview with Philip Yancey, a Christian writer working through his own fundamentalist roots.
