Another excellent video. It was great that the dialogue was not drowned out by the music. The UK terrestrial TV channels should take note, thanks.

The cinematography on the 'get factual' series is extraordinary, as is the narative. Living in a wheelchair your series has taken me to so many places I feel I have now visited. Thankyou. Binni. Australia. 🇦🇺 xx

Wouldn't it be more satisfying to hear an Italian voice narrating this stunning video?

No, it wouldn't. This is an English language narration and the Scottish narrator is a native speaker of English with a glorious Scottish accent. English language content couldn't possibly get any better than this. Find an Italian language narration of the same documentary if you wish, and I say this as a proficient Italian speaker.

I am quite familiar with the works of ancient Roman authors. I like to delve into the historical eloquence of Livy, Suetonius and Sallust, the grandiloquence of Virgil, the simulated superficiality of Propertius and Ovid, the political and legal speculations of Cicero and the methodical and sometimes harsh narrative of Julius Caesar. Men who lived, fought and wrote their books in a country whose fauna and flora are shown here with beautiful images and commented on in a precise and captivating way. Beautiful Italy... an admirable country that makes us dream. It's very bad to see the fascism of the 1930s resurfacing in recent years because of neoliberalism. We can admire and hate Italy, but it is impossible to ignore it. The generosity of nature on the Italian peninsula contrasts with the sick greed of an economic system capable of devouring everything including democracy to increase the fortunes of a few at the expense of everyone else.

Wild Italy - bird eating what looks like a crayfish, but narration calls it both a crayfish and a crab, in different places.
Both are crustaceans, but which is it?

Exactly the earth can renew itself once man stops polluting and wrecking things ,chopping down old forests and not replanting , dumping poisonous waste into oceans and lakes and rivers etc it’s man that’s causing it all

Don't be fooled too much by these wonderful images. Italy has largely devastated its natural habitat and in the North where I live, vast areas of woodland are being chopped down to produce wine, the big money spinner. Hunting is big too, and accepted, like in France, as an important part of the national tradition. Emilia Romagna is a wasteland where the landscape has been annihilated to give way to merciless intensive agriculture. Tuscany and Umbria are also largely bio-nondiverse due to this. The level of ignorance about wildlife and ecosystems here is shocking. To them, thousands of hectares of maize is "nature".
