4.10 gears are great for accelerating but I'd rather have a higher top speed with the 3.73's. The next thing to factor would be the weight of your Mustang. Take out what you can, but leave the tire. Many guys have went 373 in their 4v and regretted the hell out of it later and they made this mistake because all these people giving them advice thinking with conventional thinking which I already said goes out the window with the 4v cars. I did 410 on my 97 cobra I was afraid it would be "too much" because of people talking just like you are. After I seen how they ran and how much it benefitted that 4v and just how streetable it still was and could still reach 125+ at the top of 4th gear which is way higher than a bolt on 97 can trap in the quarter I was kicking myself for not going 456.
@@mercury0214 you are right anything less than 410 is a waste of time on an na 4v. I would recommend 410 if supercharged and 430-456 if na.
my ford ranger auto set at 3000rpm at 80mph it stock . it kinda fun from o-60 and then it shake at 80 and is over at 90 . what was that nosies at the end of the video? it sound bad . I want a sports car but I need something for the snow to but I want a mach 1, or a dodge stealth r/t or maybe 350z or g35 or g37 awd coupe
People say I’d need to tune my crown Vic if I go 4.10s or it’ll go into limp mode is that true ?
Shouldnt go into limp mode, your speedo will be off tho
@@CodyDriven she a lil off anyways so shouldn’t be an issue lol
Did you have to change the carrier and program the new gears?!
Program yes, but the stock carrier can be reused
I am about to do a 3.15 to 3.9 swap on my R200 (1984 datsun/nissan 200sx/silvia v8 swap) I am really curious as to how it drives when im done....
4.56's or gtfo. Both the 4R70W and the TR3650 have plenty of overdrive to still keep it "streetable".
I had 3.73 on my 03 they were great. But I sold the car. I have a 97 gt now that I want 3.73 or 4.10 not sure yet but I just know after buying the kit and installation of a mechanic it will be another 700-800 I will not be getting back when selling the car
I can’t make up my mind between 4.10 & 3.73 but I do drive hours a day lol & where did you get your cluster & what exhaust is that man lol damn I wanna do this to my 4.6
Go with 3.90.
How did you get it to pop like that on decel? Mine doesn't pop like that
4:10 the best mod 4v or 2v. Spend money wisely, dont buy that damn jlt money is better spent on gears.
So with an automatic for example, my 06 crownvic police interceptor...if I go with 3.73s or 4.10s will my car pull harder in overdrive at wot? Rite now in overdrive I top out at 136mph with 3.27s at 3800 rpms. So will it be faster in overdrive?
You’ll have lower top speed.
What time do you have for your burble that sounds good
On decel it goes to 15 degrees of timing
Any before and after 60-130 tests?
would you sell your car at some point? how much would you sell it?
Do you still have the 410 gears with your procharger?
I do!
How much extra fuel does a 4.10 ratio drain compared to a 2.73 on the highway, at say 60 MPH?
No way to tell exactly as the rear end ratio is only 1 of the factors in gas mileage, but can probably expect 5-7 less mpg
My .mustang is a 1996 .mustang v6stock witch kind of gears can I put in to go faster
sounds like your drive shaft came off and is slapping under neath your car.lol i remember the first time i saw one of these, late night coming home in my s10 with a swapped LT1 in it,with 5 speed and up come another mustang to blow away, but i was like wait what is that,it said mach 1 on the side, this was in like 2001 or 02 and i drop it down in 2nd and leave him, then 3rd,then 4th,but it was like 2 am,we were on a long straight away so we kept going till i shifted into 5th gear then he slowly walked by,so we did this 2 or 3 times and each time, same thing i walked off on him,now if we were on a red light to red light road ha i would have spanked him each time, good times.i have a els blazer with 6 speed and 373's thinking of going to 4.30 gears
does it crackle naturally like that??
OEM instrument cluster?
I run a 4.10 matched up to my th400 and can daily it easy.
What about highway . Rpms at 80?
@@demarfountain5096 in overdrive I could cruise at 80 around 3500
@@tannercox4537 That's really high for cruising. You're going to wear your engine out faster.
@@falcon6995 the convertor already has a high stall and its pretty well built 408. Im also racing almost every weekend so she gets plenty of maintenance . Longest she cruises for is about 25 miles and that’s for no trailor events.
I have 411 geara in my 6.0 yukon denali, it runs goooood
I can roast them and its All the time AWD
True Dual exhaust out the back gettin 15mpg average
Too bad it's the opposite of what you stated. 4.10 is a LOWER ratio than 3.27 it's 3.27:1 meaning the pinion gear turns 3.27 times to turn the wheel 1 time. 4.10 would turn 4.1 times to turn the wheel once
Damn i did not know that
@@CodyDriven its all good. Learn something new everyday. That's why it accelerates harder. The engine has more of an advantage over the gear ratio now.
Did you calibrate your speed ometer because your 70 is probably 55 or 60? With those gears. Be correct about the speeds.
Yes it was calibrated before this video
@@CodyDriven - how do u calibrate the speedo ???
@@billjones2005 getting a new tune, just tell the tuner the rear end ratio and the tire size and he will calibrate it
What's done to your car that you're running 13.3 N/a? 4.10, tune, what else? My car is getting a 4.10 right now actually
It has bmr lower control arms also but thats all!
@@CodyDriven Oh that's good to hear, I have a 02 GT with a bbk intake, flowmaster exhaust, it's gonna get a 4.10 and a mini spooled diff (not LSD, will be locked). It's gonna be a drift car but I might also take it to the strip because all my friends drag race and they run low 13's, I'd be happy if I was in 13's
You went 13.3? I seen a guy at the track back in 2004 at dinwiddie va fun ford good. ole country boy had one of the only mach1’s racing in the event I talked with him and he had Nitto 555r’s and a drop in K&N I seen him run 13.0 he was a very good driver wasn’t his first rodeo. But with good traction I think you could be high 12’s
Where did you get your gauges and cluster
Its stock for the mach 1’s
4.10 gears are great for accelerating but I'd rather have a higher top speed with the 3.73's.
The next thing to factor would be the weight of your Mustang.
Take out what you can, but leave the tire.
Personal opinion: What I honestly don't understand about the Mustang is the tiny back seat. Ford should remove it.
Not a place for tall people!!!
However, everyone has an idea for their Mustang.
Not a bad ride. You either like'm or you want to burn'm to the ground. And when you have nothing to prove meaning you have 500-1000 under the hood, you leave it on the track instead of the street.

I feel like 4.10s with the manual is to much. 3.73 for the 5 speed. Keep the 4.10 with the autos
This car is now procharged with 4.10 gears and it is indeed alittle much🤣
I disagree 1,000,000%!!! I had an 03 Mach 1, full bolt ons, 4.10s, and a BAMA 91 race tune. It was fun and quick, but I wished I would've had 4.30 gears! I drove on the hwy everyday too. MPG wasn't bad at all! 5th gear is a tall gear! Even still with 4.10s.
@@midrangetorque people have so much false info when it comes to gearing and these old 4v. They try to apply the same "rules" they've always known with pushrod cars and the 2v cars with these 4v and they end up screwing up. 410 is not even close to too much gear for an na 4v 5 speed. 410 is the bare minimum I would go 430-456 even 456 will tach below 3k at 70 mph. These 4v cars really love gears.
@@CodyDriven I have a vortec with stock gears in my 02 GT. I can’t decide between 3.73 or 4.10. It’s not a daily and only sees highway commute about 30%. I’m also only making around 370whp. What’s your take?

Changing rearend gears means your speedo says youre going faster then you are unless you change the speedo drive gear Duh anybody knows that giing from stock to 4:10 doubles your mph doesnt mean your going that fast DUH

Everyone with a mach knows that it doesn’t make power after 6k quit Revving That thing out that far. Your going to kill you accessory’s and honestly the car will be faster. Shift at 6k and give that motor a break
Motor gets no breaks
You don't shift a 4v at 6k that is stupid as hell. You might short shift it a little bit on the 3 to 4 shift like 65 or 6600 or so I would not shift at 6k.
@@midnight347 I didn’t say 4v I said mach 1 cams are different from 99-01,96-98 and 03-04. The Mach 1 stock cams fall off in power around 6k you can even feel it in 2-3-4. So you own a mach 1 with stock mach cams?
Also cmon. Poor gas mileages comes with a the fun. We don’t by these cars and drive them for gas milage.
