Walking in Kathmandu (Nepal)

- Kathmandu is the capital and largest municipality of Nepal. It is the only city of Nepal with the administrative status of Mahanagarpalika, as compared to Up-Mahanagarpalika or Nagarpalika
This is the route Kees walked: Kees starts walking on the Tridevi Sadak road towards, just before the turnoff to the Fire and Ice Pizzeria. He walks in the direction of the Amrit Marg road. Walks straight into Thabahi road. Turns left at Thamel Marg, turns right at J P Marg, turns right at Chaksibari Marg, follows the bend in the road to the left in front of the Hard Rock Cafe, turns right at t-junction with Saat Ghumti Marg. Turns left at Leknath Marg, turns right at Naya Bazaar Marg, walks into Nirmal Lama Marg, goes straight into Rayamajhi Marga. Turns left at Dyabu Marg, follows straight into Mhepi Marg, continues a few metres into Nawasangam Marg and turns right. There, stops and backtracks to corner of Nawasangam Marg/Mhepi Marg and turns right into Mhepi Marg. Turns left into Samakhusi Marg. Turns left at Ring Road. Turns left into Pabitranagar Marg. Turns left at Y-junction and stays on Pabitranagar Marg. Turns right into Nawasangam Marg. Turns left at Tamu Cyber Communication into unknown street. Passes Lamjung Sapkota Store, stops recording.

Well, it's nice to see someone upload not only the touristy places. Many people only see the touristy places on the internet and get disappointed when they arrive.

Richard's World Traveler kathmandu non tourist palce are still way better than other third countries!! And nepal is not just about kathmandu, visit other cities like pokhara chitwqn their environment are way better than even first world countries

The contrast between tourists on holiday and the locals going about their lives is what has struck me the most here. Excellent video.

thanks.... now this is a precious, although very sad memory - wonder how many of the people shown may be buried under the rubble that covers Kathmandu. May Nepalese people get all the help they need to reconstruct as much as possible - hope for their resilience and faith under the terrible circumstances, and hope their government drastically improves their selfish ways toward their own people.

Thanks to these videos! I cancelled my plans for visiting such a places as Manila, Singapore, Hong Kong, Mumbai and all other India. It's not worth my time at all. You saved not just my time and money, you helped to save my nerves!
I would not judge countries based on their infrastructure and general level of cleanliness but rather travel to these places to meet the people and their culture. I have found that the people in these countries to be warm, kind, and very giving. I've been to plenty of pretty places whose people seem cold, empty and soulless.
this is like travelling the world
You should get the nobel peace prize, man...what you do with these videos is pure philanthropy (not to mention that your shooting technique is pitch perfect).

If Kathmandu can minimise the noise pollution specifically in highly pedestrian areas it will go a long way to being more hospitable .. it was depressing to hear nothing but beeping

Now the unnecessary horns from the vehicles inside the valley is banned
They should play more of the music you occasionally hear coming out of cars in this video

I know all these streets very well. Great memories of when all the buildings were mostly wood. No cars. Hundreds of dogs. Lots of pie shops. Great bookshops.

Tourists have polluted the original Nepal , you can see tons of tourists but hardly any locals and their cultural values.
The city at the time when I left for further education in the USA. So much has changed now, it's a lot cleaner and greener but the energy is the same 🇳🇵

David Walker i plan it roughly, i usually lose the way after i turn the first corner , so no Google maps

I was staying at Hotel Access Nepal (seen early in the video) and wandered about Thamel and got lost. But somehow found my way back. If nothing else, I was going to take a rickshaw. How did you get back?

Hey Kees Colijn, did you stay at the Alobar hostel in Kathmandu in October 2015? I think I talked to you on top of the rooftop. Great video. Just wondering why those folks don't take the time to fix up and clean up the mess.
The government was in process of adding water pipes so the streets were really ripped up, I have not been since October (its August) but every year I return, it has been more finished, dust is a problem.
