Just to say that I ordered The Breakdown last week upon hearing it demo'd by Premier Guitar. What grabbed me right off the bat was the sound with a Tele. Other demo's, after I had ordered were disappointing for the most part. I am yet to read what your viewership has responded below. My take is that although the JHS does sound good it does significantly, to my ears, colour the sound. It darkens it and closes it up a bit. The Breakdown does not colour and opens up the sound making it quite airy and gives it a lot of space. I much preferred The Breakdown. IMO the Spark did neither pedal any favours. Another boost/od may do a better job. I would not use the Spark on either of theses pedals. In use with the POG clone and that other space pedal I did find the Morning Glory to be better suited to those effects. The darkness of it gave those effects more depth. For the style of music I play, which I call "Ancestral Classic Rock" lol, The Breakdown is perfect, although it hasn't arrived yet. Thank you for demo. Very well done. Now lets see what the viewership had to say.
Update: Returned the pedal. Where I live this pedal cost 200 bucks. I found it did give me something nice with a Strat, in one position. Did zero for a Les Paul. For that money I need much more out of a pedal. The pedal was well built, looked cool, came with a real nice leather pouch and a foldout with several knob position suggestions.
BanditPanda I never tried it with humbuckers, but could see how it might get a little muddy. You probably need another eq or something with it. Thanks for the update!
Hello! I enjoyed the comparison. They both sound good but I was wondering if it matters that there is no eq control on the Breakdown? Also have you ever tried a Greer Lightspeed? Thanks!
Hey Ty. Pedal just arrived in the mail! Letting warm up to room temp before running some volts thru it. Just wondering which position best suited that pedal ( The Breakdown ) before or after other O.D.'s etc., etc., Thanks
BanditPanda Cool! It’s a great pedal. I liked it before my morning glory on 2 or 3. I found that it sounded better before most of my drives. It serves as an excellent “always on” pedal. Enjoy it!
Danelectro seems to have a little more bottom end. I have a Jackson Audio Broken Arrow, which has 4 Different Types of Overdrive and 4 Different Boost Types. So need for independent Overdrive or Boost Pedals. I have a Stomp as well and use it my Church, Sounds Awesome You've got a great compact Board there TY. Blessings Rob, Australia
The Danelectro seems to boost the low mids while the MG stays very transparent. Boosted with the Spark the DE pushes even more low mids, dare I say towards a bit of muddieness while the MG holds it grounds. Which one sounds the best? I think it all depends on how it sounds in the mix and live in church. I'd pick the MG with your setup and gituar, but the DE sounds awesome to. As always excellent content man! Btw I just got the Mooer Preamp live taking your pedalboard tour a while ago in to mind. They released un update a couple of months ago with a ton of new features and amps (maybe worthwhile a revisit). The Matchless amp model sounds absolutely awesome on it!! God bless!
Ovidiu Simon Definitely see what you’re saying. As a stand alone, I’m leaning DE. With other pedals, I’m leaning MG. The DE just sounds so “amp like”, which is super cool. Congrats on the preamp live! That’s such a cool unit. I’d love to hear the new amps. Thanks for the support!
The breakdown sounds good almost feels like a tube screamer though because of the bottom end. While the morning glory seems to cut the mix a little more.
Ya, the Breakdown is nothing like a tube screamer. It's open and airy without that mid bump. It's even across the spectrum except for a little enhancement of the bass frequency. It's a great pedal. From cleanish and a little hair to a saturated fuzz at 6.
Dan electro, breakdown is my bet. Sounds great in my opinion, more organic break with the amp, I also like jhs pedals but morning glory seems to add color to your tone.
The DE has more personality which I prefer. The MG is very clean, too clean for me. It sounds like a worship band and/or a U2 cover band sound. I prefer a ballsier sounds.
Thx to DE's FB post today. I found your cool review. I bought mine last December. Love it. Joe Perry has one on his board & it's based on Jimmy Page's Univox UD50. Good enough for them, great enough for me!
Although the Danelectro sounds, jhs sounds a little more 3-d. The Danelectro does bigger bottom end. It's a still a toss up though. Either one sounds good.
Two completely different pedals MG is a bluesbreaker circuit , a transparent overdrive and the breakdown goes from a boost to a high gain drive which adds tons of low end , more with each increment also the breakdown adds some high mids Keep both
Been thru this, and I chose the Walrus 385 as superior to the BD; but keep the Morning Glory to boost and eq.Never get rid of the MG. You try running stacked ,dirty to clean, Fuzz on top? 385/ MG / Spark? Should give better sag AND headroom. The 385 got some deserved attention, but not as much as it earns.
So danelectro has a little beefier grunt to it... the JHS is little more transparent dynamic wise... though it's also adding a little more upper high "air"... which on solo track might not seem that important But coming at this from a ling backround in FOH mixing .... and that extra harmonic info is right in the freq range that guitar has the least sonic competition from other instruments. (Talking typically here.. not in every band. a mix with lots of air in the cymbals for example ... that might swallow up the extra highs) But as a pure sound, or in a sparse mix, like a bass drum gtr trio , I like the danelectro.
Both are great. Jhs is more ....expensive. the dano is much better as a deal. In addition having the BREAKDOWN it pairs perfectly with BOSS BD2W BLUES DRIVER and MAXON SD9 SONIC DISTORTION Now and together with FENDER TREVERB and DANELECTRO DAN ECHO and BOSS DIMENSION C formed a perfectly small pedalboard for recording AMP? GIBSON GA5 GOLDTONE 5W TUBE AMP
That’s a tough one man! I’m leaning towards the Danelectro but I’m going to have to listen to this a few more times and get back to you.
Glen Reed Sounds good, Glen. Thanks!
This really helped me decide. I was stuck between which to get, and I’m going with the morning glory now.
That’s a great pedal! Happy this helped.

BanditPanda It’s a great pedal, especially with single coils. I think you’ll be happy with it!

@@jayfender4486 Thanks Jay. Still did nothing for me. Pedal is long gone.
@@PieIX Did zero with YOU on a les paul. Dont be dissin' the paul
@@jayfender4486 Yeah of course for me! I can't speak for you or anybody else.
If you like what the Danelectro does with a LP fantastic. Rock on.
Out.
Woooooo, that danelectro is wild brother I am super shock, I didnt think anything will supress and morning glory till now !!!
Hennri Velasquez Same here! When I first plugged it in, I was like 😲.
They both sound incredible! Can you do a video without the cali?
After months of trying different drive pedals (originally wanted Morning Glory V4), I found J Rockett Blue note! Want BOTH of those pedals? Try it!!!
Internal Methods I’ve heard the blue note is awesome!
Hello! I enjoyed the comparison. They both sound good but I was wondering if it matters that there is no eq control on the Breakdown? Also have you ever tried a Greer Lightspeed? Thanks!
I found that I wan't missing the eq, but I agree that it would be nice to have. I have tried the lightspeed. It's a great pedal.

They are very close. The Breakdown sounds a bit more flat EQ wise. I’d say keep them both and stack them.
Thanks!
Yes MG first then the Breakdown for leads
No amplifier? Just Pedals->hx stomp-> daw?
Amazing tone!
What is your setup in the hx-stomp for this setup?
Thanks! Yeah just the stomp, no amps. I have a few patch videos showing what I use. I also have some patches that you can download.
I dig the morning glory
DividedByTime Thanks for the feedback! I ended up sticking with the MG after all.
You can always keep both :) they have pretty different flavors and are both phenomenal!
Dexter Umali That’s true. Thanks!
Both are good. Just different.
Tyler Eads Agreed
Danelectro seems to have a little more bottom end.
I have a Jackson Audio Broken Arrow, which has 4 Different Types of Overdrive and 4 Different Boost Types.

I have a Stomp as well and use it my Church, Sounds Awesome

Robert Falconer Thanks Robert! The broken arrow is a really cool pedal. Thanks for the feedback.
The Danelectro seems to boost the low mids while the MG stays very transparent. Boosted with the Spark the DE pushes even more low mids, dare I say towards a bit of muddieness while the MG holds it grounds.

Morning glory 👍 I always have one on my board with a keeley red dirt second stage...
Thanks for the feedback!
The breakdown sounds good almost feels like a tube screamer though because of the bottom end. While the morning glory seems to cut the mix a little more.
Thanks for the feedback!
Use for fat solo boost
Ya, the Breakdown is nothing like a tube screamer. It's open and airy without that mid bump. It's even across the spectrum except for a little enhancement of the bass frequency. It's a great pedal. From cleanish and a little hair to a saturated fuzz at 6.
I prefer transistor boosts, so I would vote for the Breakdown, seems to color the tone less at low gain, and has more push at high gain.
Cool! Thanks for the feedback.
Dan electro, breakdown is my bet. Sounds great in my opinion, more organic break with the amp, I also like jhs pedals but morning glory seems to add color to your tone.
Thanks for the feedback!
The DE has more personality which I prefer. The MG is very clean, too clean for me. It sounds like a worship band and/or a U2 cover band sound. I prefer a ballsier sounds.
Hahaha, I had no idea you did worship music, that’s just what that pedal sounds like.
For sure! The DE really impressed me.
Thx to DE's FB post today. I found your cool review. I bought mine last December. Love it. Joe Perry has one on his board & it's based on Jimmy Page's Univox UD50. Good enough for them, great enough for me!
Very cool!
Danelectro has low mids, mids. They sound similar, these pedals are used best with amp with the volume level up
Although the Danelectro sounds, jhs sounds a little more 3-d. The Danelectro does bigger bottom end. It's a still a toss up though. Either one sounds good.
papaslick83 Thanks for the feedback!
Danelectro, is also my bet. Sounds great in my opinion, more organic break with the amp.
Thanks for feedback
Morning Glory has better clarity. Dano is a little warmer and fuller with the boost
Thanks for the feedback!
Two completely different pedals
MG is a bluesbreaker circuit , a transparent overdrive and the breakdown goes from a boost to a high gain drive which adds tons of low end , more with each increment also the breakdown adds some high mids
Keep both
Both sound amazing... but I like danelectro better! Crispy and clear
Thanks for the feedback!

The 385 got some deserved attention, but not as much as it earns.
Awesome! I will check that pedal out. Thanks for the feedback!
Both sound nice on their own, but with the additional boost of the Spark - JHS wins for me.
Thanks!
I think both sounded good to me bro, but danelectro sound best.
michael olagoke Sounds good. Thanks!
michael olagoke Okay sounds good! Thanks for the feedback.
Danelectro warmer and liver.. m
MG sounded always too scooped to me..
Thanks for feedback!
So danelectro has a little beefier grunt to it... the JHS is little more transparent dynamic wise... though it's also adding a little more upper high "air"... which on solo track might not seem that important

But as a pure sound, or in a sparse mix, like a bass drum gtr trio , I like the danelectro.
Great points! Thanks so much!
I am a gain stage fein, so I would say keep both. The Breakdown has more low mids and a looser bass.
Thanks for the feedback!
I've Played a Nash Guitar, A T style with a Bigsby and Neck Humbucker,
Far Superior to any Fender..
Robert Falconer That’s cool! I’m really happy with it.

Breakdown
Morning Glory markedly better
Thanks for the feedback!
MG, but the Breakdown is close
Thanks for the feedback!
MG all the way, I got both, sold the Danelectro, both are good just wasn't for me
Cool! Thanks for the feedback.
lots of expensive gear, no expensive riffs. go figure :/
What's an expensive riff???
Be nice if nothing else?
Jack Benson has a string-thru body .. ass to mouth.
