I love it when people talk about him as an actor, his talent, kindness, etc. Thats what should be talked about. Its so sad that his peers don't talk about him more. I think maybe it's just too hard to go back there.
I have to admit, I did not bother to look up how River was as an actor before. It was his death that got me wondering what is so special about him that even after all these years, people still bring up his name to compare to young actors like Timothee Chalamet and even Leodardo Dicaprio. After diging deeper into his past life, I finally understood why. He was pure, sad, and an open wound for the world to see, His sad and sexually abusive childhood made his performance spectacular, very pure and authentic, no pretense. His beauty pushed his stardom even further, with his iconic and timeless style that sill influence young actor/singers today (pioneer of the famous undercut hairstyle). His absence opened doors for Leo, and even though i love Leo in The Titanic, I can never watch the movie without thinking what it would have been if River was Jack.
River would hv been perfect as Jack for sure. His great acting style, swag, beauty ,name it..Even Leo himself said it, how he admired and idolized River
River was a method actor. Sometimes he couldn't snap put of character. River as characters Mike Waters is a classic example. River became his character on screen and real life.
Yea, forgot to mention who "the real Mike Waters" was. :p He plays in the movie. He has a scene where he's telling us, the viewer, about the time he had a wine bottle shoved up his butt. (He's also in other scenes, but that one stands out to me). Oh, and another scene where he's telling Scott and Mike that he wants to have a band, produce all his own music, have a say on opening bands, etc....
+ Bryan M True ! The scene in which Michael Parker and Scott Green tell the suffer sexual violences they are true histories really happened to them. In fact 'My own private Idaho' is a FILM that contains a 'DOCUMENTARY' !

More like they’re glad he’s gone because half of them would have a career today/ wouldn’t be as successful if he was around lol.
Keanu reeves and Ethan Hawke always remember him, and Joaquin is getting more comfortable with talking about him in public
he has become a cautionary tale
his last girlfriend actress samantha mathis also always talks about him
My Own Private Idaho has moved me like no other film has- it's very special.
Sort of genius he was... an enthusiastic, very rare and beautiful
W. Paine him and James Dean
Luvie1980 never saw the appeal of James Dean. Good looking guy, sure. But his acting wasn't very good. Maybe for his time he was good...
My own private Idaho: FILM CULT !
River Phoenix: LEGEND !
One of the best films I've ever seen!

I would've loved to have seen Gus and River work on some more films together.

River was undeniably the most talented and versatile actor. Had he not been murdered he would have given us so much more.
What a film, what an incredible young actor. And person. River Phoenix was one of a kind.
MISS YOU RIVER
Oscar should give a lifetime achievement award to River Phoenix for creating iconic and quality films.
This is not my opinion...
The person, at the end of the film, was Scott. End of story.
Yah, I believe so to
it says that it was him in the screenplay u can look it up the ending was different in the script it showed scott at the end
It was his father. You can find the clip on the Internet
