Hi TNPrs! Project still strong and working hard thanks to TNP Patreon. Remember TNPP gets the videos first and some never post on the main channel! Here's some TNPr comments from Patreon, join the fun and full flow of TNP content: www.patreon.com/Nutnfancy "Michael B warner Wow that's a sweet blade. 1 14h Jammerjim Ohhh nice!! 1 14h STLParkRanger13 Nice! I've been in a bowie mood recently, good timing! 1 14h STLParkRanger13 Also, fun fact, I'm a Navy brat. Dad was a naval aviator, flew the P3C over the North Atlantic when I was little, and later the T34C as an instructor at NAS Corpus Christi. One of my earliest memories is my dad wagging his wings in a T34. He sure did speak fondly about them. 12h Mighty Mcknighty I need this in my life. 14h Mighty Mcknighty ...... I think we all do... 1 14h Greg Malcom Thanks Nutn! Just in time for Friday night popcorn and a Nutnfancy video. 1 14h C0RLoCK I'm trying to limit the things in my life I will never use. If I want eye candy, I can look at pictures. My budget demands it after years of TNP lol 1 14h The Nutnfancy Project It does catch up to one! 13h Jonathan-James Damn it! Nutn this speaks to me. Give my wallet break. Still paying off my 4 month old. 13h Todd Strelka Oh, I love this knife! I'm drooling over it! 13h Robert Awesome video! I had my Cold Steel 1917 Frontier Bowie sitting right beside me 12h Carl Bailey And we get to why the Spydercos never make it all the way to the purchase. Every time I am looking at one it seems I find a knife I like just as well for less. When you look at materials, finish and yes even the box they just seem to be a premium brand made on the cheap. 2 11h Sheepdog TRR8, like I said in the Open Carry comments, it's the perfect way to "Go Big" on open carry. Nice to see it back with the project! 1 6h Kenny VanCleave nut'n, my wallet is on life support. Your killing my wallet. Oh wait......YES!!! My birthday money from last year. Forget that first part. I'm good. ;) 3h Jameel W. Akel All GI Joe artwork was AMAZING! 1h Plumber Angelo I love a good Bowie, but those competitive options blow this spydie out of the water! 1h Maplebrew Nutn, any thoughts on doing a review on hammocks now we’re into summer 1h The Nutnfancy Project Oooo, I don't think so. I'm not a fan of them. Thanks Maple. 3min Lon N KRV's are always appreciated, thank you Nutn. My truth, I have yet to see a Spyderco knife that trips my 2nd cool trigger. The Province, not even for $29.95. For $300 I would be looking at Cold Steel Trail Masters The Katz hits my 2nd cool happy zone.... & the Bark River is delicious. 41min The Nutnfancy Project "The Katz hits my 2nd cool happy zone.... & the Bark River is delicious." Indeed Lon. Province isn't quite there for me. 1min Trustful Marksman I don't think this knife has a lot of value. A square handle takes less machining than a round one. Its not made in the US. The Blade is not even close to polished. The steel is expensive I'll give you that but still this doesn't live up to a $280 price tag. TNP'rs please look into other brands such as Bark River Knives. Same price point for similar size blades but way better finish, handles, and american craftsmanship. 34min The Nutnfancy Project I completely agree with your comment! It's just not delivering on the money spent. Bark River dominates this ad USA made. 1min Nick Campbell Yes please on more drills with the TRR8. It's one of my lust guns but sooooo expensive."

I agree on the boxes, I just through them away. If they just spent 5 to 10 dollars on packaging you could easily increase the resale value and collect ability of their knives. Most collectibles fair a higher price in the original packaging but spyderco is an exception because the ship everything in a cheap cardboard box.

Yes handle is square but cannot comment on long term use. Also have the boltaron sheet, very nice. Tips is thin so I try to have almost all of the swedge out of the log when I baton. Hate to break it. If I am not wrong Glesser said that the idea with the Torx is that the user can mod the handle. Thanks.

@@nutnfancy Thanks. I learned this while doing competitive shooting as a member of the SUNY Maritime College rifle team. I had wanted to get a firearms permit to legally own (not carry, separate and impossible permit) firearms but there is a provision in the application that allows NYPD and feds to enter your home to inspect the firearm and any time for any reason because there is a firearm on the property. Due to this clause, I am not applying for the permit simply because the idea of police inspecting my home is not good.

NF mentioned he bought it back when they were out of vogue, funny to think only about 10 years ago did people start finding old school stuff all that cool. He grabbed a bunch of old M&P revolvers from a lot someone tossed on consignment. Against the glocks in the case, they were low interest and cheap as hell. Funny how you never can afford all the cool stuff while it's around for 'cheap;'. I remember guys saying they wanted a P7 back at $600 but it was too expensive. That's only gotten worse! -Doodle

It's probably something they've leaned into since it's consistent, recognizable, and cheaper. Problem is, pricy knives aren't stocked on shelves very often facing consumers, so differentiating the box is kinda moot. It's kinda in keeping with their as-seen-on-tv sharpener origins moving on upwards, since it's one of those line items the boss doesn't care enough about to start driving up costs. A bummer, but whatever. It is kinda funny, because so many guys keep packaging for resale. -Doodle

that Alley Kat looks cool, but for a bigger fixed blade, a stainless, hollow grind made out of 0.15" stock wont do, especially not at 54-55 HRC, being that low on the Rockwell scale makes it tougher I guess... but being that thin, especially with that grind, its basically an over grown kitchen knife, it'd either bend or break way to easily. that edge would roll like a marble down a hill. way to soft. even esse, who are known to have soft blades, Rockwell @ 57-58.

I believe its an exclusive to Knives Ship Free, and the current variation is CPM154 they have had versions in M4 in the past and I think 3v not sure what the other steel is. Looking at a couple hundred range for one depending on which handle materials are left. Last I looked they still had some in stock but they came out now a couple months ago so stock is probably pretty low. I should probably buy one myself before they sell out lol.

If it had a nice hand guard I would definitely buy one of those knives... maybe even two.. it just appears to be too much like a chefs knife, and without a hand guard , for me, it prevents me from using it as a Bowie knife..I think it’s cool.. 100%... just not for that amount of money the way it is.. add a nice hand guard and for me, it would cover every type of cool and beyond... I also agree about the handle, but I usually modify my handles anyway no matter the knife, and also add some grip texture to my large working knives... I’d be in if they dropped the price a bit though... great review, and thank you for showing this product, as Most people would never know about it unless they are spiderco collectors or are partial to that brand.. also what make and model was the second Bowie that you showed?

My problem with Spyderco is when they come out with a knife at this price point, they make it in Asia and cheap out on all the features. Both the Case and the Bark River are both superior and made with more expensive American labor for less dollars.
A totally cool competitive option is the Tops Prather War Bowie.

It's a solid business practice. If you don't think your product will perform as well as the competition, triple the price so that those who buy it will never ever use it.

I remember the old GI Joe boxes, and they were very cool. I wish I still had mine. As for the knife, I'd rather just buy a Buck 119 Special that I'd actually use outdoors and save $240.

Spyderco has become overpriced in the last few years and yet they keep raising their prices year after year. Hence the Spyderco delica 4 is now $84 per Bladehq and that's the VG10 version. I haven't bought a Spyderco since the Slysz Bowie. Almost bought the Shaman but they raised the price.

    • @JesseLJohnson

That is why I don't buy standard models of the popular stuff that gets sprints and exclusives. The sprints and exclusives are nearly the same price. Look at the Knifeworks 204p Delica that is in stock right now its only $89 so only $4-5 more and getting 204p over the normal VG10. Only time I will buy standard production models for the most part is the upgraded steel production stuff like the s110v, spy27, Maxamet, and the new Seki k390 stuff. My Knifeworks 204p Delica should be here tomorrow might order a 2nd before they sell out for that price.

On the bright side, if you buy one of those chintzy skinny "survival" ferro rods, you could scrape it by running it through the spidey hole, thereby saving your sharp spine for scraping fatwood. And you thought it wouldn't be a good woods knife.Sheesh.Shows how much you know! LOL Just kidding..no, not a good woods knife, but damn..it IS cool looking!
