Ya know, the female leads never understand how much trouble they put their husbands in when they go meet a male friend from their past. When they get married to the ML, they leave out their feelings or even thoughts. You can't just go hang out with an unmarried man when you were married. I just wish the FL would try to understand, no matter how difficult the ML is, what position they put them through. I haven't finished this show, but I am not sure I want to start it if I have to deal with it. Can anyone give me a reason to finish it?

@@4MoonMoon4 Their mother-in-law never likes them to begin with, so when they do these kinds of stupid things, it gives the mother-in-law more than enough reason to kick them out. Just think of the ML. He falls in love with the FL, but she keeps doing too much for nothing.
I couldn’t finish it. Everyone in the comments kept saying the FL is so adorable and lovable and I just don’t like her. She acts like a 5 year old with all her pouting and ignorance in things, the same girl who lived in the streets. I do like the ML though. Dunno if I will finish for him …
What about all the times the ML "innocently" gets duped by the ex or female rival??? It's the same either side.. from a ML/FL perspective, if there's no romantic feelings. Why wouldn't you meet up with a "friend"?? Especially if you've known eachother for a period of time and have "trust"?

Reading a lot of comments about how annoying the FL is, as for me being watching a lot of dramas, I want to share my opinions.
First, this drama genre is romantic comedy although it’s a costume drama. From the dramas I’ve watched, the strong FL tends to have tragic storyline. Sad, I know, but this is how it goes in dramaland. Since this is romcom, the FL usually being told has the opposite character from the ML. In this case, Xiao Wanzi is very cheerful while Mei Shiqing is cold and timid. As for getting into trouble, it’s for giving room for the ML to be the hero. In my personal opinion, Xiao Wanzi’s character reminds me a bit to Hsiao Yence, the Huan Zhu Princess, although it’s not a romcom at that time. Hsiao Yence’s love interest is Yungchi, the Fifth Prince, someone who is also considered above her. In this case, Mei Shiqing is a general while Xiao Wanzi is a common girl. There’s a cute scene when Xiao Wanzi tries to act like a princess after meeting Lu Yingyao and Mei Shiqing stares at her oddly while asking ‘what are you doing?’ lol. He loves her for the way she is.
Second, why she sees another man while she was already married although it’s a fake marriage. We have to see it in drama perspective because in real life, this is also not permitted…lol. In drama, it has purpose to spice the plot, to make each other feels jealousy and later realizes they have feelings for each other. It’s typical in this kind of genre.
Third, the in-laws. I see it more like the room to show us how the Shiqing defends Wanzi in front of his family. The same Wanzi does to Shiqing in the beginning of the story after they just got married. The way to show each other he/she can be trusted. The step-mom only messed around for a while, but not makes any impact to the plot.
Fourth, don’t take it too seriously. If you prefer to watch less annoying FL in your personal opinion, then romcom genre or any other typical drama which has this kind of FL isn’t your cup of tea. Go watch another drama which suits your personal taste. Romcom genre is tend to have light plot and giving the audiences the fun vibe to watch.
Fifth, I haven’t seen a romcom genre in wuxia for a while, so this is quite refreshing. Always remember this is fiction, a moment for us to forget about real life. Truth or Dare gives story on how Xiao Wanzi and Mei Shiqing’s love develop. It’s not happen in one night, for she even tries to run away several times from Shiqing’s manor. I prefer it that way because you just meet this person, you will need time to know and understand him/her.
Sixth, just enjoy it.

I think she is the best FL i ever seen in Cdrama,she is sassy, cute and care free with strong personality ,if she was a ''good girl'' like everyone here wants her she wouldn't have protected ML in the first place againt his father which make him fall for her,and also she is not his WIFE,she can even date Situling and that no one business

No entiendo en su gran mayoría siempre ponen en esto drama el prota hombre muy guapo aveces como este y a la prota mujer enana, flaca cuerpo de tabla de planchar y encima con dientes chuecos creo que sí una persona lucra con su apariencia como es el caso de los artistas debe tener mejor cuidado personal. En fin lo veo por el actor no por la actriz debe ser nocvata o muy joven nomegusta su actuación muy fingida.
