Koh the Face-Stealer (panda-faced, centipede guy) is from the end of Season 1 of AtLA. The fog that shows you your worst moment is from Korra. And obviously the Spirit of the forest is from Season 1 of AtLA.
And the owl is from Season 2 of AtLA.
I was trying to remember where the fog was from. I’m glad they incorporated that into this.
It’s like watching Jay, the lord of chaos talking to Adam, the lord of order. lol.

the Owl was voiced by Randall Duk Kim (he was Oogway in Kung Fu panda), not the voice actor for Iroh, (neither Mako not Greg Baldwin)
but did you hear who Koh was? George Takei himself.
And yes Adam, Korra was the one to introduce the fog of lost souls and the concept of people choosing to live in the spirit world after death.

Netflix has already Greenlit Season (Book) 2 and 3 so we'll all have the chance to see this Show "get better".

OMG Jaang is the popcorn bender I never knew I needed. And I know Adam has often played the "straight man" in their duo, but Jay's giggles when making Jay groan are LIFE. Y'all, this is pure comedy gold. I couldn't love this more ❤❤❤
Iroh's original voice actor passed away but Greg Baldwin his understudy took over. Mako's last episode of Iroh was when he sung leaves from from the vine. Ever since then it's been Greg who is amazing and sounds just like Mako.
Adam I love your addition of they could put this in season 2 for more growth even if they cut it from season 1, hadn’t thought of that.

This episode of NATLA combines a bunch of different episodes from different seasons and even series.
The Fog of Lost Souls does come from The Legend of Korra.
In season 1 of The Last Airbender, Sokka and Katara were captured by the Forest Spirit. Aang calmed it down and it turned back into a panda, and released them (it is not in this show).
There is also an episode of ATLA early in season 2 where the Gaang is stuck in a swamp and have to face their worst fears. Aang gets a vision from Toph in there.
And, finally, Won Shi Tong is introduced in the middle of the forest, rather than in his library in the middle of the desert (originally in season 2).

I know it’s all an act, maybe. But I have never seen Adam more done with anything than he appears to be in these popcorn promos.

There's a lot of Earth Kingdom narrative mishmash in this episode, along with background stories. The owl - I don't think it's in this episode in the animated series - but he's in the library in the desert (episode 10, book 2), which I really hope they do not cut next season.
But in this episode and the next they bring everything together brilliantly. Really good adaptation, pace

The Boulder predicts they will integrate the earth bender village and prisoners with the introduction of Toph. She might even be one of the prisoners needing rescue (adding a bit of irony [snicker] to the fact she becomes the first metal bender).

This ep has my favorite Sassy!Zuko moment. “So, someone saw ice…in a place where no ice should be?” 🤨
They mixed a few spirit world things in this ep, which I thought was cool. The Spirit Koh is from Book 1, the Owl spirit is from Book 2, and I believe the Fog of Lost Souls is from Korra.
The way Jay lit up when they jumped off the cliff and then Appa caught them and flew away made me think, we all know Jay loves ships, and Jay also loves cute things… so is Appa a ship?

Basically they are mixing all the spiritual stuff and I think it worked pretty well in this episode
Fog of lost souls is from Korra, thats where Commander Zao gets sent to after book 1.

That scene where she feels guilt over her mother's death reminded me of the A.O.S. scene where YoYo had to come to terms with the guilt over her uncle's death.
June is bounty hunter from season 2. She rides a ShirShu named Nyla. The ShirShu has the venemous tongue and has a super-powerful sense of smell.

The fog is in Korra. However Spider person is in the first season just later when Aang was at the Northern Water tribe and found out about the spirits there
In an episode of Korra, Aang's family somehow falls into a fog of lost souls. We also see Zhao trapped in the mist there for what he did to the moon spirit, which he totally deserved. It's sweet that we got to see Gyatso in the spirit world. Those whose spiritual energy is high enough to stay in the spirit world can remain there after death, which we understand when Korra encounters General Iroh in the spirit world.
I like how after the primary content of the video you make the time to watch an Avatar episode. 🙂

And has nothing to do with the panda spirit episode. It’s getting a bit wonky, basically from the ba sing seh episodes on.

What’s crazy about this episode is all the voices I didn’t even notice were someone I should recognize. Wan shi tong is friggin Oogway for Pete’s sake!!! And koh is George takei!
I really appreciate you guys doing your best to have a positive spin on everything, even if it's badly written and/or acted.
It's very easy to look at this show and point out the flaws but you stay positive at try to give credit for some basic storytelling.
I know the comment sounds negative, but I really mean it in a positive way.

It's so nice you guys have open heart with this ❤ I have some small issues with this adaption but this has heart of atla costumes are spot on, most actors are spot on and this genuinely has followed the plot some changes ofc but I don't mind after Shamaldindong movie I take this series with much gratitude! And s2 and s3 confirmed. I just hope they got s3 fights to next level and that they will do ember island episode to come alive.

The Navatar is the best thing to come out of this not-a-cult channel since the Jeopardy experiment.
When the face stealer shows the baboon face that was from the original Avatar series.
Big fan of this episode and how they showed the spirit world, even if they squashed a lot into one. I just hope this doesn't mean they will cut Wan Shi Tong from S2 but I suspect the library won't happen. But this is how I imagine the feywild. Reality mirrored and heightened. Yes, that's very similar to a thing that happens in Korra. Like how they used that, it makes sense :)
Audio balance is a bit off in this. Navatar was great but later your voices are quite quiet compared to the show and to the cut-ins.
At the risk of spoilers... I think they'll do the Library because that is a turning point for Toph... her having to choose between who to save and showing how strong an earth bender she is, and the limitations she has.
The library is how they find out about the upcoming eclipse and how they lose Appa so I'm sure it'll still happen!

Love your positivity towards the show. It's nowhere near perfect,but it does a god job adapting season 1 and seasons 2 and 3 can surely be way stronger. Overall I'm happy with what we got and with all the negativity online, it's good to see a more positive commentary on it.
The owl is Gohan from the live action Dragon Ball movie.
Tell me: How does Katara's flashback flesh out her present day character? Like in the cartoon we saw her being the mom of the group clashing with her being a teenager, because she had to take on responsibilities way too early and the flashback giving context to that. But here...?
This show is so in love with being exposition dump after exposition dump that they bring in a character from season 2 just to Owlsplain the spirit world. Because at it's core the Netflix adaptation is a lecture about Avatar, rather than a reinterpretation and it's tragic how unaware its writers seem to be of that.

I’m disappointed we didn’t get Ang healing the Spirit Panda and it revealing itself as a panda. I think Koh was scarier when Ang had to work to not show any expression, there was tension. So I’m not sure about this remix.
I'm a fan but not a super fan of the OG series. I have watched every single episode and own the blu-rays but I do not remember every detail of every major storyline of the three books. Based on some of the early reviews, I kept on waiting for the show to suck after every episode. And that never happened for me. I don't want a one-to-one remake of the animation, otherwise I would just rewatch that. I'm glad it was renewed for two more seasons because I want to see this to its conclusion.

Sure, smashing together all the different spirit issues into one, Hei-Bai. Koh, and the fog, is a GREAT way to get through the show.
I don't like it. each of those spirits represent a different aspect and has a different danger, I don't think it's a wise choice to blend them into one issue.
yes Jay, the fog is from Korra, and no June does show up in season one, she hunts the Avatar for Zuko and Iroh while the Gaang meets Bato and does the Ice-dodging trial for real, because in the animation, Sokka was still too young before the guys went out. it's also why Katara needed to drop her necklace for the tracking to work. it's episode 15.
at the speed they are going, there is no way season 2 has time to bring the prison back. but maybe I am too negative right now, I just didn't like the changes they made, and in contrast to the Jet/Mechanist thing, these spirit things didn't make sense.
