Today was day 2 of NSCC: The National Sports Collectors Convention. I walked the floor for a little while and bought some grails across baseball, football, and hockey cards! How'd I do?

it costs lot of money to to on a trip to the National and all you bought was a bunch of cheap shit cards you can get anywhere
@@tedwavegenius thanks for watching!
Did you even watch the video? He has spent thousands of dollars on some of the most famous sports cards of all time. Also, the experience of being at the National is just as important as buying cards.
@@captainj1336 I come for the people. The show and the cards are a bonus.
Nice logic, @wave. Does that mean you never go to a local show or card shop because literally everything you could get there could be bought on ebay from the comfort of your basement?
That's not very nice , You there spending millions ?
Boom! Super awesome pick ups!!! I love the diversity in cards, players and grades. Makes it so much more fun.
Mike, your collection seems to get better and better with every video. I'm really happy that you were able to acquire these cards for your collection! The 1941 Play Ball Ted Williams is certainly an important card in a historic year for Baseball. I'm really enjoying the fact that you got a Sayers RC and a Gretzky RC which are absolutely fantastic! I'd love to get your thoughts on this National and how you'd compare this one to the others you've been too.
@@ryanmcclanahan8739 thanks Ryan! I’ll talk about that on an upcoming video
Sweet Ted! Love the Gretzky! That's on my list too.
That Ted Williams is fantastic. Congratulations on that.
Great National update video, for us that can’t be there in person, thanks Mike. You do sound tired & I’m sure you must do a lot of walking around & that’s just to get in the building. But that’s when the fun starts & you’re a good conversationalist. Just remember, you have it way better hustling & bargain hunting than us folks watching on our iPads 1000 miles away.
At the 4:29 mark, you film the 1907 rookie Ty Cobb card, with a hand written message. You discussed this exact postcard on last week’s Clearing the Bases episode. It’s listed for $150K.
Yes! Good eye!
Congrats on your foray into the four figure card world Mike! Beautiful Williams Play Ball! Glad to hear dealers are open to negotiation!
Thanks Brent!
Congrats on the great pick-ups and thanks for sharing! Have fun!!!
If you want Gretzky rookies, come the Toronto, card show. Being in Canada, every table it seems has a Gretzky rookie - and Howe.
Absolutely stellar pickups, congrats on those!!!
Great pickups, Mike! Have you ever seen Barry Sanders 1989 Lions Police card? One of my favorite “alternative” rookie cards, secretly hoped it would’ve been on your top 100 list but I’m sure the Score is more enviable for most collectors. Enjoy the rest of the show, wish I was there!
@@aw.8. I haven’t!
Wow, that is the Williams to get, fantastic, love that card. Your having a heck of a show my man, congrats
Mike thank you for shouting out my boy Ken 🎉 and stoked you landed that 41 Teddy 👊🤙🤙
@@DoubleDvintagebaseballcards thanks Dylan!!
Cool cards, Chris. 😉 Congratulations on getting the Ted Williams. The price of the Sayers, Simpson, and Sanders rookies sounded like a steal. Then that Gretzky! 🤩 Glad you are having a good time.
Mike, was great to meet you yesterday. Congratulations on adding those big boy cards to your collection. The Gretzky rookie is on my list for 2025.
Thanks for the shoutout, I am now over 1,000 subscribers! I appreciate it.
@@kenscardboard nice! Thanks for introducing yourself, and I’m sorry it took me a few minutes to realize who you were
@@JunkWaxHero, it was funny that you showed up to the same table just after I purchased the Pete Rose rookie card, as you asked me to show it to you when we got to meet. 😂
@@kenscardboard I do remember that! But I didn’t at that moment
Congrats Mike!!! Beautiful card
Some really great pickups Mike! Good stuff brother!
Wow, great stuff today, Mike. Congrats!
I remember when you used to swim in the shallow end! Stepping into the bigger cards to see! Good for you, that’s more fun and good investments too! Awesome cards, except for the OJ, I would skip that one.
Thanks Darren!
Top stuff, Mike! Some great additions there - and one particularly big addition!
Thank you for the update. Hope you enjoy the rest of the National. 👍
Nice cards . Hope you enjoy the show . I hope to go soon .
Awesome, Ted Williams.
Great pick ups. That Ted Williams card in the same grade sold last month on Ebay for $1,750. So getting it for only $1,150 is amazing. I didn't feel too good when you showed the O.J. Simpson card. I don't like that guy. It was really cool that you got to see the famous ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz. I would have gone to the National just to see them. I look forward to seeing what else you get this week.
@captainj1336 thanks. Yeah the Teddy Ballgame was such a great deal
Hey Mike, great bumping into you! Glad to hear you found the Ted play ball, and congrats on all the others. Awesome grabs dude!
Thanks for saying hey!
Holy moly. I don’t check RUclips for three days and the 1st two videos watched are from Mr Keating and you. Wozers.
Unbelievable massive pick-ups. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Enjoy the rest of your weekend
Great pick ups, thanks for sharing. Love the Ted, now you’ve got me thinking about creating a top card list 🙂
Do it!
Congratulations on your pickups
Excellent purchases Mike!!! Whoever painted that hotel room must be the same company that packages the cards for Walgreens.
lol thanks Randy. It’s bad
One reason I didn’t go this year is last year. I didn’t have great luck finding 1971 PSA eight or better. I’m putting together a set for the last 30 years.. I was very disappointed. I cannot find a Reggie Jackson last year. I found one later
Bummer
Your 14 year old and your 56 year old subscribers, love the Ruby Slippers! If money was no object for me I’d have a tough time passing those up. In fact I can’t think of a more iconic pop culture collectible that I’d rather have! Congrats on your pick ups and thanks for the report! Continue having fun and tolerating your green cell!
lol thanks Robert
That '41 Play Ball Williams looks fantastic! Congratulations on the pickups, and good seeing you at the Thursday night event.
@@jpcards same to you!
Watched the day 1 video this morning while I was driving & couldn't comment. Sammy Thunder is a great dude & a Mets fan!! Great pickups!! Glad you could make it there.
Checking off the boxes! Nice! Congratulations! Looking forward to day 3!
The Koufax looks like it’d be a 3 or 4 if not for the pinhole. Nice eye appeal!
Was the badge Chris Sewell lol
Also don’t get the OJ desire. Mike Moynihan wanted one too recently. I could never own that nor want to . Still a fan 👊
I totally get that
Awesome pickups Mike! The Teddy Play Ball is my favorite for sure! Wish I could make it to the RUclips gathering this evening, too much stuff to do after work and a 70 minute drive. But I’ll be there tomorrow, will definitely say hi if I see ya!
Please do Sam!
Great pickups! I love the Sandy. Probably my favorite vintage player! The Gretzky is very cool. I think I would want the OPC version, but the Topps version is great as well! Really nice adds.
Yeah I just can’t see paying up for the OPC when you can’t even tell by the front. But that’s me
@@JunkWaxHero the heart knows lol... no but seriously the Topps version is just as cool. Its just personal preferences. Both are true grails for sure!
As I tell folks when they buy from me at a show (and no I don't deal in cards...well, at least no sport cards), THAT's what show are ALL about - the opportunity to buy rare items REAL time and see a lot MORE than you could ever see than scouring the internet with a million finger clicks....
Here a grail, there a grail everywhere a grail grail. Bad Ted! Way to break that 4 figure cherry. Beautiful card, congratulations. You deserve it.
Thanks Mike!
Geez, you went swinging for the fences and connected big time. Congrats big time.
Thanks Mike!
Now your vacationing with your 100 best buds!! 👍
Wow, those are some big cards. I thinking I better make a penny sleever order today. 😂😂😂
lol
Was the badge Chris Sewell lol
Also don’t get the OJ desire. Mike Moynihan wanted one too recently. I could never own that nor want to
Great pickups, love that Ted W PB. Incredible addition. I've been looking to add a Sayers RC for a while now. I sold my Sanders and OJ at the peak. Now would be a good time to buy back into those I think. Loved the video.
I commented too soon, holy crap Gretzky and Koufax - you are having a great National sir. Id love to add a Gretzky someday. Already have the Koufax.
Thanks!
Wow that Gretzky pick-up! 🔥🔥🔥
Love that '41 Ted Williams, it's on my short list. Great pickup at a fair price!
The Gale Sayers is my favorite that you picked up. Vintage baseball isn’t my thing per se. I like a few vintage baseball sets but for the most part if I’m buying vintage it’s football. Congrats on getting the cards you want. Hope ya get more tomorrow
@@mrapache10 I focus on vintage football too. Almost done with the entire Bowman run… but man, those SPs in 48 are tough! Need the Otto Graham RC still. 👍🏈
Congrats on your pick ups. The Ted Williams card looks great!
That Teddy is a beauty. Congrats!
VERY GOOD CARDS! Huge Ted and Wayne
Nothing to envy about OJ, even his cards. 🤮 Congrats on everything else!
I know, I know
If you hate the Simpson card then you're really gonna hate the Nicole Brown Simpson glasses that she left at the restaurant the night she was murdered that I bought in an auction. It's the crown jewel of my Juice collection.
Congrats on all the big pickups!
Fantastic video and great cards
" Big boy cards" is hilarious but those that get it, get it. Congrats on a successful day 2.
Congrats on the additions!
Nice “Ted” is it weird that his names in quotations? Man the place looked packed Nice Kansas Comet pick up too.
Gretzky rookie ????? Duuuuuuude it’s MY grail card No Way !!
Hey Cleveland Rocks & so do you Mike !
Thanks! Yeah back then any nickname was in quotes. My grandmother is 94 and still writes Mike in quotes in cards because my full name is Michael
Great pick ups, Mike. Experiencing the show vicariously through you.
Your purchases are freakin sweet! Have you seen any Beatle autographs? Enjoy the rest of your time at the show.
I haven’t!
Hard to beat the 1941 PlayBall Ted. Not bad after getting the 51 Bowman yesterday.
Good deal on those football cards
@@randyworden5232 thanks Randy!
Love all the pickups, but that Gretzky... wow! It's still the last card I need to complete 79-80 Topps :)
Good luck!
@@JunkWaxHero Ty!
The 3 card lot for around $200 seems like a steal. Great video as always!
Great cards. Ted Williams
Now I gotta get a Gretzky, stop influencing me! LOL
I’m a big time influencer lol
Enjoy the national Mike, appreciate the updates, living vicariously through you...also, not you're doing at all, but I thought you should know that I'm tortured by the "Queen of Cackle" ads both before and after your videos...
lol I have no idea what the Queen of cackle is!
@@JunkWaxHero ha!...one of the individuals running in an upcoming election...
Great pick up on the Williams
Thanks Mark!
Way to go on the Play Ball Ted, Mike! Incredible pickup!
Thanks Jake!
Good video .👊 Nice pickups
Mike a '41 Play Ball Williams?!?!?! He was in the process of hitting .400 when that card was sitting in a pack in some corner shop!!! AMAZING. ~Allon
That’s so crazy to think about
Great pickups!
Nice scores! Be sure to pack them in your carry on luggage. If you pack them in your checked luggage, they will not make it all the way to Maine.
I only brought a backpack 😂
I like the shadow silhouette on the splendid splinter makes it pop, have never seen the george bush card in person and for 100K wow...did you see any t206 wagner.
I haven’t yet but I know there’s at least one there
Wow awesome pickups Mike. Would you say this is your best day for pick ups at a show?
By far!
Great pickups, What does Authentic mean? And what did ya pay for the Gretzky 3? And if ya don't mind, how much ya pay for the Koufax? I have 2 Koufax that are for sale, good luck rest of National
Authentic means there was a pinhole. I paid $1,100 for the two of them together. $425 Koufax, $675 Gretzky
Nice pick-ups... I stopped by Mill Creek Sports they are at the show
Honored to be the better voice you recognized. 😆
If you spend $1,150 for a card that goes for $1,350, then the card goes for $1,150. ;-) Haha. In all seriousness, that's good negotiating. You don't have to pay what the last guy did. You can even offer more if you're within your budget and it pleases you. It's all good if you're paying your bills, first.
The Rocky Marciano and Gretzky are the two pick ups that I like so far. I live in Cleveland and want to go, but I'm low on funds and quit my job yesterday.
Oof… hope everything is okay
@@JunkWaxHero Yeah it is, I have other stuff lined up, figured the national would be a tease. Plus I'm only looking for three or four cards yet for my collection. Hope you have a blast man, stay out of the lake and the east side.
Great deal on Sayers rookie Mike..
WOW... The asking prices on those Jackie cards are absolutely ridiculous. No way a '49 Bowman PSA 2 will bring $6,500. Have you noticed dealer prices being much higher (at The National) then other shows you've attended?
@@scottstuber5857 I’ve found them to be really reasonable! I haven’t looked at prices on high-end cards though
😮 👏
Yes!
The last 1/2 mile took me 2 hours………for the love of God….from 9:30-11:30……that was fun….
Yeah I Uber and don’t have this problem thankfully
@@JunkWaxHero There we’re some guys who got out of their car and walked the last 1/2 mile. That was crazy to see IN CLEVELAND!!!!!!
@@TheBargainBoxer it’s a way bigger problem than I realized. I talked to a bunch of people tonight who had similar stories to yours
@@JunkWaxHero Craziest thing ever. I mean, do we come 2 hours early tomorrow???? It was crazy!!!
Nice pick ups. Hotel any better?
Nope!
Do you own a koufax rookie? Well.... I DO.. All you need to say tehehehe... Glad your enjoying yourself.
Makes me wish there were more Koufax pinhole cards. Congrats on your pickups! What is Chris and Jeremy's booth number? Thanks!
I’m actually not sure but I think they’re close to PSA
@@JunkWaxHero, thanks for the info. I'm planning on being there Saturday. How long will you be there?
@@tommayrant2279 today is my last day
Glad the guy came down. $100 off will not kill him.... REally, with all the competition, I would think the buyer HAS "the say"...and not the dealer. Don't forget these guys are against the wall to make money and make this show profitable....
Mike, as Billy Ballgame said earlier today, you finally bought a comma card, cards above $1,000. Enjoy the remainder of the show.
Comma club!
So do you save all year for this show to buy these cards?
Allll year!
@@JunkWaxHero god bless you man. I’m not disciplined enough for that.
Geoff Wilson.....definitely a rough 1...but I give him a 10 on being able to scam the public.....
It's about time you picked up a Gretzky
Yes!
So now you’re a hockey collector?!
lol nope. I’ll finish my collection with maybe 3-5 hockey cards?
I don't look at how busy it is I look if anything is being exchanged
Fun fact: the idiot who stole the Wizard of Oz shoes did so because he thought they were real rubies on the slippers!
lol
#oliverneedsglasses
Maybe the Men's Room? be honest dude.
What’s your favorite of the cards I bought today?
I think the Gretzky but tough to choose
@@JunkWaxHero The Williams
Pre-war all the way has to be the ted Williams. It's certainly a more😅 attractive card than the 39 playball, but once you reach 25k subs celebrate by getting yourself a 39. A rookie is a rookie
@@ASMRPeople I know I know… I just don’t like it. It’ll be the last Ted I get to complete the collection. 25k is a LONG way off!
Quit lying to yourself Mike. You LOVE Geoff Wilson.
I do enjoy some of his videos for sure
How do I let people know I have a 1977 program roster for Modesto AS with Ricky henderson
My Rickey expert says if you join the “Rickey Henderson Collectors Group” on Facebook you can ask them about it
Not a fan of Wilson either, had to tell RUclips to stop recommending his channels!
2nd comment- I don’t know if I’d feel comfortable paying over $200 for a raw vintage card. Your thoughts?
I probably would
@@JunkWaxHero nice/ if you’re willing to share- what’s your ceiling that you would pay for a unauthenticated raw card from a seller you didn’t know?
@@commentingcollector oh that I don’t know? I’m not sure. Maybe $200. But if reputable, maybe $400?
@@JunkWaxHero thanks, I’m just wondering with the proliferation of great raw vintage if there was any Correlation to EBays authenticity program for higher end vintage sales.
