No vocal fry, no pushing subscriptions - just clear, helpful instructions without assuming any knowledge or being patronising in the process. Excellent work.
I've been everywhere, man, looking for someone who will teach sketchup starting from the true beginning and not flying around the damn universe on that damn orbit tool. Thanks. Subscribed. You're a great teacher who knows how not to pass up the smallest details.
I am brand new to this, and have used Planit Fusion for 5-6 years at my work. I bought sketch up as I am going to go freelance and Planit's software is very expensive It is so different and your tutorials are easy-ish to follow. You have a very listenable voice too which encourages and helps me.
This is the best video tutorial on SketchUp I've ever watched. Everything is just moderate. It has it all for a beginner to grasp the concept. Thanks a million. I now have hope that I will get started. This is the video I can boldly share with anyone who wants to get started with SketchUp. Mr. T is from South Africa.
Thank You! I have watched a ton of skeychup tutorials, most of which are pretty bad. It seems people are more interested in showing off, impressing others than they are interested in teaching. I have learned more in this one 17 min video about using this app then all the other crap I have watched. Everybody skipped right over the basics and jumped into things that are not easily or consistently doable without the basics. I will stay glued to your stuff from now on. THANK YOU AGAIN...
What I found the best is this: I play and stop your tutorial on one computer and then I am designing on a second computer actually experimenting with the tips . I keep pausing and going backwards until I get it. I did feel extremely frustrated about going from the software I mentioned above to sketch up, but your tutorial has kept me from going off the edge!!!
Good teacher I’m new at this I’m using sketchup pro 2019 this Is my first class I learned a lot make rectangles, you teach slow that the most important I’ve watched lots of videos they just doing it so fast Your a great teacher thank you 🙏
it's amazing what you can do with this program! I've been using it for years and recommend it to everyone interested in getting into the field. I submitted a video response to show the power of the program and what is possible with a little practice :)
Right off the bat I just want to say I'm impressed with the amount of attention you give the comments here. I only just downloaded the program the other day and haven't had time to really play with it yet but I'm checking out the tuts and other media. I'm hoping to use this tool to design my tiny house.
Thanks a lot from someone who used to be quite familiar with version 8 some time ago. Then I was playing, but now I have a purpose - to make suggestions to my future house builder. I am going to check each video in the series, so please accept my thanks in advance.
And I will still be using version 8 as I do not intend to pay for anything newer and I do not need to share any data files with anyone. EDIT Liked and subscribed, of course.
I'm not entirely sure of what you mean by "status bar", but I would suggest going to View --> Tool Bars, and make sure "Large tool set" is checked. Start there, and check other tools you'd like to use too.
Very nice intro to Sketchup. I am beginning to build my house using building company and want to be able to determine how much of a deferent type of buildings materials Im going to need. Looking forward to see more of this kind of videos Thanks Man.
as a self taught beginner I dead ended and did not want to deal with a tutorial, but I got some good insight from this that I missed in my own. One mention that I find useful that probably he will cover on a later vid is in addition to orbit and zoom with with scroll/middle click is using shift+scroll/middle click to pan. Also, it's more enjoyable to put the guy/girl that show up at the beginning into a box, and make a little window for them to see out. relax, the box doesn't have a bottom, they can leave whenever they want.
Very nice tutorial. I am fairly experienced with sketchup myself, but I watched the whole vid and picked up a trick or two. (I didn't know about the instructor for example) Thank you!
Thanks for your excellent video. I’ve had SketchUp for several years but never really learned how to use it. I’ve watched countless videos over the years and kept going back to it but just got more and more frustrated. Most videos move far too fast and assume that you already know a lot of stuff and lose you in the process. I thought I’d give tit one last try and watched your video and hey presto I’ve just drawn my first 3D sketch for shelves that I plan on building so thank you very much. Keep up the good work. Phil.
Thanks you so so much I am very new and I am trying to learn without paying, huge money and I couldn't find the easiest way to at least start and play around with it, luckily I found your video and today I have done what ever you have showed in this video, please please keep doing this type of video for people like me GOD BLESS YOU 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤❤
Mir Anwar Nice... Hy All... I have the new video tutorial 2018. About tecnical roofing details. ruclips.net/video/j2mC8vNBcTw/видео.html. Using component
Perfect? I had given up on Sketchup, but decided to try again with Make. Still, I thought it was like modeling on my hands and knees. This first tutorial now makes me believe that the prom is a keeper!
Very helpful. I am going to go through all the videos. I've been pulling my hair out after the initial tutorial from sketch up. It's time to do some real learning
Awesome video! Helped me finally create the desk I wanted for my gaming rig, I couldn't find it so I decided to build it and this was soooo helpful, thanks a lot dude!
thank you for this very simple and amazing tutorial! I've learnt all you intended us to in this part one. Now you'll be my teacher till I can call myself a master at sketch up as well. Hope you're ready to answer all my questions when I'm stuck. :-)
Yay! I am so happy to have found your tutorials. You make learning the program easy. Thank you so much. I went to your site and subscribed to your newsletter and got the gift of Keyboard Shortcuts! You're awesome.
It would be helpful to us Mac users if the equivalent key or mouse button on a Mac were pointed out as Matt goes along. example: He mentioned the middle mouse button a few times, but there's no middle button on a Mac mouse. That aside, so far I'm impressed with the quality and clarity of this instructional video. Again, I just wish it were more multiple platform inclusive … OR is Sketchup primarily geared to the PC user?
Excellent tutorial. Being an educator, I am always looking for something useful for my students. This helped me get back into sketchup and I think it would be very good to use with them as well. Thanks!
hello Scott thank you for making these instructional videos you are a very good instructor , I have been a subscriber for many many years and have watched many of your videos the SketchUp Series has been my favorite thank you so much Scott 👍
Thank you Mastersketchup i am a complete notice and want to learn how to use stetchup for home projects. Any advice how to get a free software download or best place to purchase one.
Sir...what is the difference between sketchup and 3ds max and which is better to use when it comes to 3d modelling?..can you give me the advantages of sketchup?....
another thing I noticed is that he's using a licensed version . you can run this app as a free web app from their site , it still works very well obviously with less features, but i'd imagine there'd be some differences.
Excellent - got me going straight away. One question - if I have a simple rectangle fave but with a cut out, is there anyway of tilting that as a face? I tried by moving one of the edges but it leaves the cut outs in place.
I've used many complicated, multifaceted softwares in my time: TVPaint, Adobe Illustrator, Blender, professional video editing software, etc. I've encountered NOTHING as unintuitive as Sketchup. Many softwares one can fiddle with and get the gist of the operations; not Sketchup. Everything is connected then they all skew together when you move one thing, right clicking produces nothing that you think it should, it's cumbersome. How this software ever became as popular as it is is clearly a testament to a good marketing team, promotion, and strategy.
Hello, nice tutorial :-) Really helpfull. Is the free version of sketchup legal to use on eg. a school? Or would I have to buy it then? If you know. Thanks in regards Kristian.
No vocal fry, no pushing subscriptions - just clear, helpful instructions without assuming any knowledge or being patronising in the process. Excellent work.
Vocal fry, lol. I may be a millenial, but I'm not THAT kind of millenial.
I'm so glad you're finding my tutorials helpful. Thanks for subscribing!

I appreciate that, thank you!
This man is the clearest trainer on CAD I have ever seen. I am following him!!

Hey Matt ran into this video while searching and figured I'd stop by and see how you were doing! I'm sure the community misses your tutorials man.
Right off the bat I just want to say I'm impressed with the amount of attention you give the comments here. ruclips.net/video/7ImJcgFDN5U/видео.html it's powerful with layout
FYI on iMac, instead of hitting "control" to copy, hit "option." Great video. Thanks
so nice to see a video that gets to the point. fast and concise.

Fantastic tutorials, I'm a new sketch up user and Matt has got me started in no time. Thanks very much.

To lock the blue axis at the 8 minute, you need to tap the up arrow on your keyboard.
This is so cool. I wish I had learnt architecture, but I was bad in math :)... Thank you! Helped a lot. I found a new hobby
How have you been doing?
So far so good. Easy beginner tutorial. I'm learning self taught with help of youtube videos. I am also using Revit and Chief Architect
Very nice tutorial. I am fairly experienced with sketchup myself, but I watched the whole vid and picked up a trick or two. (I didn't know about the instructor for example)

Even my mother language is not Eng,and I'm a beginner student of sketchup,it helped me a lot.wow
Yes, you can use the Free Sketchup program in a school. That's no problem.

are you able to use sketchup for building plans for a house?
Thank you Mastersketchup i am a complete notice and want to learn how to use stetchup for home projects. Any advice how to get a free software download or best place to purchase one.
Sir...what is the difference between sketchup and 3ds max and which is better to use when it comes to 3d modelling?..can you give me the advantages of sketchup?....
Very helpful, but I could not use the Control key to copy. I am using a Mac.
Hello Matt. Will your book be helpful to me as I am not intending to buy the pro version? I'm going to stay on SketchUp for Web.
In the setup, appreciate the videos! Maybe a dumb question but is there a way to export content in mono in soft20?
another thing I noticed is that he's using a licensed version . you can run this app as a free web app from their site , it still works very well obviously with less features, but i'd imagine there'd be some differences.
sir i m fresher for SketchUp so plz tell me which is video heplful for learning?
Excellent - got me going straight away. One question - if I have a simple rectangle fave but with a cut out, is there anyway of tilting that as a face? I tried by moving one of the edges but it leaves the cut outs in place.
Thanks you, very helpful. Coming from the free version of Design Spark Mechanical also known as Space Claim.
After making a basic shape, triple click, right click, Make Group. Now that geometry is isolated from sticking to anything else.
Thank you a lot it's useful
thank you! :) I needed to learn this soon and you are very concise and clear. now on to the next video.
And I need to get on that part 3 video....Sorry to leave you hanging.
Hello, nice tutorial :-) Really helpfull.
Is the free version of sketchup legal to use on eg. a school? Or would I have to buy it then? If you know.
Thanks in regards Kristian.
