      Any of Rafa's forehands would be a winning shot against anybody I play with...so much spin and power even while training...dammit.

    • @ThreeJackdaws
      @ThreeJackdaws 10 лет назад +1

      ***** really?
      why would they do that? so it becomes second nature?

    • @AstroPatel
      @AstroPatel 10 лет назад +5

      ***** I'm not a pro, but I do play competitively.
      A major factor in why tennis players go harder during practice is simply because it's not as intense or nerve-wrecking - they're fairly care free and willing to try harder shots.
      And this trying of harder shots eventually allows for actual improvement in your game. Don't get me wrong, they go all out on some matches and give it their all, but the mindset is just very different when you're practicing as opposed to when you're in a match. You're not as focused, you're willing to risk more, and sometimes you just want to try that hard shot.

    • @ThreeJackdaws
      @ThreeJackdaws 10 лет назад

      ***** MrPatelpb
      Thanks guys, great answers.
      I understand why they would go for harder shots in practice and why that improves their game, I just wasn't sure about pace, as I expected pros to have it completely dialed in.
      When I play, too much pace is rarely a problem, the problem is the angling and placement.
      Thanks a lot anyway.

    To the idiotic, absurd haters: Armstrong´s sudden and dramatic improvement on his performance at a point of his mid-career had no logical explanation, nor did Ben Johnson`s or some others. Nadal has been a physical wonder since he was 16, beating players much older and stronger than him, by then he already outrun his opponents without having a fitht of the power that he developped latter - just like Nole, Murray and RF increased in power as they matured. And if you knew him - and his uncle - you would know that his principles would prevent him from taking any drug. It's quite coward to falsely accuse hidden behind a nickname.

      willkittwk Wooden racquets are just as powerful as modern racquets though. They even tested top players' serves with wooden and modern racquets and the speed was identical.

    • @willkittwk
      @willkittwk 9 лет назад

      I take your word on that. It seems odd though cause metal baseball bats impart a greater velocity than wood and the ball travels farther

    • @simpbeforeusleep
      @simpbeforeusleep 9 лет назад

      willkittwk The strings are what ultimately makes contact with the ball though.

    • @noahgarcia2216
      @noahgarcia2216 8 лет назад

      +willkittwk that's because the formula for force or velocity (I forgot which) amplifies speed more than weight. Since metal bats are much lighter you can swing them a lot faster which compensates for the loss of weight as well as add additional force

    • @willkittwk
      @willkittwk 8 лет назад

      Noah Garcia seems logical because the slow balls hitting close to the baseline seem to be easier to get pace off of with a new raquet than a wooden one. Aero dynamics, material, weight probably factor in.

      ***** back then soldering played the match of his life to give Rafa his only loss at Roland Garros. If you noticed Robin was hitting out so much and playing to win the point not playing not to lose the point which is an impossible way to beat Rafa especially on clay.a constant barrage of flattened out deep forehands and aggressive serving. Nobody hits this hard in training. Nadal must be doping.

    • @JiraiyaSama86
      @JiraiyaSama86 10 лет назад +18

      Or maybe this is how you should be training, so that you don't lose familiarity with your strokes and become afraid of your own power. Plus it's not like he overtrains, so it's worth it. This is how you build trust in your own strokes even in pressure moments so that you rarely doubt your strokes.
      Plus if you haven't been listening, he hits the ball twice as hard in practice as he normally would he matches just to get a feel for the ball.

    • @cj397
      @cj397 10 лет назад +3

      JiraiyaSama86
      You're missing the point

    • @JiraiyaSama86
      @JiraiyaSama86 10 лет назад +11

      cj397 Then explain the point. don't just tell me I'm missing it. Plus, if the issue is doping, then I can't help you, since u can only assume based on ur own beliefs of what the human limit is. My belief is that he just has crazy pain tolerance only b/c as Toni said he's been playing through pain his entire career. May be hard for u to believe, but if u do something over n over again, the more u get use to it, so the pain and fatigue becomes more manageable.
      So again, if the doping is the point, I explained my part already. Besides, that, until someone has solid proof, it will always sound like you're just a hater.

    • @cj397
      @cj397 10 лет назад +2

      JiraiyaSama86
      No one's talking about doping. You're saying nadal going 150% in practice for no reason = practicing correctly. Every pro player trains hard except for the lazy ones yet they will lose familiarity? Also his faked "injuries" and months off at a time off tour are also pretty obbvious. Stop being blind.

    • @JiraiyaSama86
      @JiraiyaSama86 10 лет назад +1

      cj397 You did in ur first comment about doping. Second not saying they don't train hard, just some probably aren't necessarily practicing the way they probably should. He isn't going 150% for no reason. You obviously didn't read the part about getting a feel for the ball.
      On the issue of injuries and layoffs, you don't have evidence that they are fake or what is necessary. Not every pro does what the doctor recommends - including sufficient time off. Do you necessarily listen to your doctor ALL the time, especially on waiting 2 full months before hitting a tennis ball again? I know i don't and it's not just me.
      As for faked injuries - you go ahead and play the style he does and then tell me whether it's fake or not. if you're not going to, maybe find a friend and have them tell you whether it's fake or not. just because someone might be enjoying their time off IF that's what you're referring to doesn't mean they're fake. they just aren't going to weep about it and focus on it- why bother when you can enjoy other things and mentally recharge.

      He is there while you and I are here watching. Carreno Busta is a good player. You have to realize that the top 10 players are on another level then a sub 30 ranked player. Hell, then you have Rafa, Roger, Nole, and Murray who are on an even higher level. He isn't bad, he is a pro for obvious reasons, but you really have to account for how great these legends are man.

      Anyway that's not even the point to know what ranking the guy on the other side of the net is : he's doing his job of just to make the trained player play ! He does it not bad nor well, he does it as it has to be done and as it would be really easily done by any pro player...

      it is because you dont understand tennis.. his technique is brilliant.. this forehand comes from rogers.. but rafa has little different swing more like wrecking ball.Generates more spin.. this techniqe is minimal on the same level as federers..

      Forget timing , string pattern, technique, the snap back of the wrist but let's just accuse him of doping. Such silly ignorant comments.
