Ya know, it never ceases to amaze me how people just can’t resist the urge to ask the question that we already know Wags isn’t going to answer. When… are we going to realize that this project is critical to the future of DCS and every module that comes after it’s release? It’s literally setting a new precedence in realism for pc simulation. On another note, check out the improvements in FLIR picture from the TADS. Not everything is hot anymore and there is distinguishable “color” variation between warmer and cooler objects. Excellent job ED. Bring the 64 at pilots discretion. We’re patiently waiting.

For those of you wondering, the "Robbie Tank" is a small, self-sealing, fire-proof fuel tank situated directly behind the ammunition compartment. When removed it allows for auxiliary ammunition to be loaded.
Not quite accurate. A Robertson (aka Robbie) tank is an auxiliary combo-pack that holds additional fuel and ammunition. You can't just remove the fuel portion of a Robbie. You'd have to swap it out for a dedicated fuel pack or ammo mag.
This is insane. Wish my grandfather was here to see this. He worked as an executive VP after being an a engineer @ Howard Hughes when they first started making Proto types for the gun/gimbal under the AH64 Apache! Have so many real parts IRL from the Apache helicopter thanks to him!
Idk why but that metalic thing hanging on the upper left side of the pilot that had physics applied to it is an absolutely awesome detail, very immersive

Wow everything is super impressive, but the vibrations and movements in the cockpit at like 5:50 blew me away. That sort of attention to detail boosts immersion by huge amounts.
Couldn’t help myself and had to buy this module last night just for a change from the fa18! It’s super fun and I can not wait until it’s more fleshed out. Worth buying just to support this awesome team of developers

Modifier buttons are your friend. I managed to cram almost all the A-10C HOTAS commands on my old Sidewinder FFB2 with only 8 buttons and one hat. It can be done :-)
After 20 happy years of using the FFB2, I finally went with the Winwing Orion for a HOTAS last year. Great product! Still keeping the FFB2 to hand for helicopters though...
You said that "This is most often reduced in the field" in regards to the rate of fire. Does this mean we will be able to select it at some point in the future? Given the chaotic environments of DCS it would sometimes be very useful to have that full rate of fire, but in others, like reality, it would be beneficial to have that reduced for the same reasons.

While the Robby tank can hold 300 rounds, the Ammo Handling System from the Robby tank to the gun can hold another 30, and since each tray from the ammo can hold 11 rounds a typical load is 330 rounds.
I mean the people griping that they only have 300 rounds are being ridiculous. That still equates to almost 30 seconds of continuously holding down the trigger with the higher rate of fire
@@gerardheil8303 so this is DCS and it's probably not modeled, but continuously holding down the trigger will almost always break something, and then you have people like me yelling at you

Matt won't make any promises. Not all of ED community understand, that "we plan to do somethin by the end of two weeks" doesn't mean "we swear to release it within two weeks". I hope, there is a chance for the release in late February - early March
really need an option to remove "disable cyclic trigger guard". Just realized that was why I couldn't fire gun or rockets this last time. This is one of the few things I've ever run into where realism ruined my experience xD

The Robbie tank is pretty much the standard loadout for that version of the Apache. Taking it on and off you would have to rework flight dynamics with different fuel loads, so for early access it makes sense to just stick with one.
@@bomkata 300 rounds is tons. The Mi-24P has 250 rounds and a much faster firing rate and it's plenty. The AH-64 has a slower firing rate and is turreted. How many technicals and 2 man mortar teams are you going to engage in 1 sortie? With rare exceptions your standard AH-64D Apache comes with the Robbie tank equipped because they realized the extra fuel was more useful then 900 rounds of probably unused ammo before you need to gas up again. That combined with a standard full load of 8 hellfires and 38 Hydra 70 rockets is more then enough firepower.
@@bomkata I mean at the high rate of fire in the Apache which is 625 rounds plus or minus 25 a minute (often reduced in the field) with 300 rounds you have almost half a minute of holding down the trigger. What other aircraft has that in game?
Wags - Could you do a setup video with what you have recommended. Joysticks, TrackIR or VR, pedals, mice, ect. I'm really wanting to get into this and would like a little info ahead of time if possible.
I wonder if there is going to be an option for enabling\disabling that hanging swinging hook on the left side of the pilot's seat? It looks pretty cool but at the same time, it's quite distracting.
In my opinion the more moving and visibly vibrating parts in the cockpit, the more it adds to immersion as in the real one, nothing feels truly static. I only hope it won't move in sync with the front one, that it will be able to slide to the other side of the handle, and that it will at least slightly react to low/negative G.
Is there a reason the TSD is usually on the right? I've been wondering about that considering its where you do points etc and the keyboard unit is on the left.

Veterans of Apache Havoc are going to have a field day once the Apache is released. Going to enjoy seeing Heli CAP once the Apache Stingers and Hind R-60s are implemented.
@@JSpidey But the gun at best is slaved and may not be as effective against a rapidly dodging helicopter. Also Hellfires while powerful, will also struggle against a heli who is aware they are being targeted and taking evasive action.

Will we see a change to gun damage overall? I did a gun run with bother the A10 and the F18 and have infantry damaged but none killed in a strafe from the larger Guns
Yea I thought it was odd as well I was rockin the hind the other day and hit infantry with 30 mm and cause 82 % damage but not killed I feel like if one of those rounds landed anywhere near you within 10-30 feet you would be missing some of your god given features.
@@TheCraigHudson ya and I did a run with my Hornet into a crowd of ~75 infantry and spend 250ish rounds. Watched it on my pod and had several guys in helos watching it. And every one of them survived and kept fighting. At least one of them shoulfa been dead

With each video i wonder, how many bindings can you fit on a cyclic and collective, to use this in VR. You would need a whole button-loaded cockpit to use this without breaking the immersion by picking up a controller just to push a button.

The rate of fire is not selectable. In the field, dirt, AHS tensions, and other factors will reduce the rate of fire.

Pointing the gun where you look is still one of the coolest features of the Apache.

Probably more like Rockets, Hellfire, Defensive Systems, Taxi and Takeoff, Landing, George, and Cold Start.

Can the pilot not ID targets via the front sensor before they start shooting? Or is it Pilot eyeball only?
The pilot can use the VID page if the target is being looked at by the TADS.

The version ED is modeling didn't use stingers.
@@JSpidey aw. But I hear they will have some form of IRM for self defense in the air, so I assume it may be an AIM-9.
@@macrossMX Sorry no A/A weapons planned. The stinger was only used in testing and never saw active service, and definitely no AIM-9's

@@JSpidey But the gun at best is slaved and may not be as effective against a rapidly dodging helicopter. Also Hellfires while powerful, will also struggle against a heli who is aware they are being targeted and taking evasive action.

Will we see a change to gun damage overall? I did a gun run with bother the A10 and the F18 and have infantry damaged but none killed in a strafe from the larger Guns
Yea I thought it was odd as well I was rockin the hind the other day and hit infantry with 30 mm and cause 82 % damage but not killed I feel like if one of those rounds landed anywhere near you within 10-30 feet you would be missing some of your god given features.
@@TheCraigHudson ya and I did a run with my Hornet into a crowd of ~75 infantry and spend 250ish rounds. Watched it on my pod and had several guys in helos watching it. And every one of them survived and kept fighting. At least one of them shoulfa been dead
@@TheCraigHudson Yeah, would be nice if they added some RNG area of effect to simulate the shrapnel. Wonder how bad it would be on the processing though with so many rounds

With each video i wonder, how many bindings can you fit on a cyclic and collective, to use this in VR. You would need a whole button-loaded cockpit to use this without breaking the immersion by picking up a controller just to push a button.
