I'm in Milwaukee. Mechanics are idiots up here. I would be willing to drive my 18 yr old baby down to TN. Runs but quite sure it is a computer problem. I had a dinky 1F audio capacitor on it between 2 amps. Thought a mechanic would see 14 V on it. Unhook it. Had it been a TX sized one I would have unhooked it first. It was a joke too small I have been shocked by 5F ones.
Mistake! He just left it. He thought taking the huge fuse off the battery would be fine. No! It is not wired like that. I'm really pissed. Any USA Lightning ppl please help. Will start taking the dash apart wiring in switches for parts that are electrically shot. Radio. Windows. Cabin lights only work when the engine is off. The boost dropped down to 8 which makes me even madder. I dont want to break it. I know enough computer/physics things I can REALLY break it. That is not a brag. If I get frustrated enough it will not be good.

I was getting the dreaded Flashing D on my '05 Pilot two weeks ago and my OBD2 code reader came back with two faults...P0974 and P0980 which are electrical faults within the circuits of Shift Solenoids A & C. I did some troubleshooting and I was coming up empty but I replaced the original solenoids anyway(which tested OK) due to the age of the vehicle.
I was getting frustrated and feared it could very well be a faulty PCM.
Anyway, i saw this vid so I ran out and purchased a can of the CRC Electronics Cleaner and I sprayed it on all of spade terminals on the PCM and also the female connections on the wiring harness.
VOILA!! No more faults. This vid and that $8 can of spray saved my bacon.
    Thanks Scotty!

Scotty ... thank you ... I asked my daughter how she and her husband knew how to fix their car and effortlessly replied youtube as if it were no big deal. Without realizing it, I thought ... hmmm she must be thinking to herself why I would even need to ask 😂. Like - doesn't everyone know that? 😂 As if there was never life before youtube. Since then , and out of necessity, I have been making as many repairs on my own and keeping local parts stores in biz for the past two years; while pretty much keeping it to myself that this car is nearly reaching 3,000 miles. Eehhhhh...not to dissuade business from Flagship One, Inc. but please read their reviews and make a decision for yourself. I'm in a situation where these guys are all I have left to help get my car running. I'm waiting for my ECM to begin shipping (which it said it was to have started shipping within 24 to 48 hours of getting the tracking number. That was Friday, May 8th and it's now 5:12PM on Monday, May 11th. I'm going to wait until one more business day to see if it then moves and then call). While I'm happy for being emailed about delays or anything with the order, none of my sent emails have received a response and calling them takes three millennia to reach anyone.

    Hello Scotty.
First, excuse my "rusty English" from the other side of the world.
Hope you do not mind that I strongly suggest a more strict instruction when it comes to disconnect and reconnect car and boatbatteries.
    1. ALWAYS disconnect the - (negative) terminal first before you touch the + (positiv terminal).
    2. ALWAYS connect the + terminal first then the - terminal. Or earth if it is a car.
The reason for this is that if you happend to tuch anything accidently with your tool nothing happens. (Also I recommend to loosen both connections if you cannot really safely put away the negativ connection.)
Really enjoy to look at your videos.
    Best regards

I would have used throttle body. But, to check the egr valve, just remove it, and block the holes under it with a home made gasket. if the problem stops, then it's an egr problem, such as a sticking valve OR bad power feed to the valve.

It starting running really bad and drove it for about an hour to clean it up but still almost stalls. The acceleration is better though. I then got code po401. The first thing I thought about was the egr valve. When I take the middle hose of the 3 hoses off the throttle body the one that is green the car starts running perfect. Back on rough

Contact spray works great on degreasing electronic clips in the engine. When valve covers loosens from vibration some oil leaks, or oil vapours from other components. This mixed with road dirt and debris kicked up in engine. A little preventive maintenance could go a long way to keeping that dreaded light on the dash.

Low fuel pressure is either a bad pump (if you didn't use a factory pump the cheaper ones often don't work), a restriction in the fuel filter or lines, OR a bad fuel pressure regulator. May be time to see a mechanic to analyze it

modern cars are SO complex, you'd need a machine as in my video "fixing modern cars using high level scan computers" to figure that one out. too much crap in em these days, drives me nuts too fixing them. I often cut all that crap off and run the AC with a toggle switch

  • @alisuta2001
    @alisuta2001 4 года назад

I have a 1998 Dodge Avenger 2.0L MT base, everything is running normally, engine runs strong with no codes.
Only when the car is cold started, the AC compressor clutch kicks in (when you start the Ac at dash button) and will stay on for about 1 minute then shuts off.
I replaced the entire Ac system (piece by piece with new parts): ac compressor unit, drier unit, evaporator unit, expansion valve, switch thermistor at evaporator, Ac fuses, switch for Ac blower unit, all Ac lines L and H and other 2 Ac lines , the pressure switch in top of Ac drier, the Ac module and the Ac switch under dash and the control panel, fully recharged system with Freon and still doing the same thing.
The engine temperature gauge is normal at half way and the engine is not running hot or having any issues, the fans work good, the only issue is AC stops blowing cold air Ac after 50 Sec.
I figured that within a minute the system gets builds up pressure or hot somewhere and maybe something triggers the Ac clutch to shut off.
Yesterday I just pulled the two main harness plugs going into the ECU unit and found (only at the upper plug) engine oil present there, I then started removing all the components under the ECU unit (the two other main harnesses that have a bunch of wires terminating into two white dead plugs and found a lot of oil in those plugs (soaked), I cleaned all with electronic cleaning spray (a lot off old oil white color came off from the two plugs). I also opened up the ecu unit (but it is waxed sealed on the inside) and cleaned the attached connectors and let it sit overnight to drip down the oil if any got inside the unit .
I am thinking this should have been the issue but haven't plugged all back in together yet
I am not a mechanic but this was my first car and last year I decided and put my mind to it to bring it back to life after it sat for 7 years.
I did bring it back to it's glorious days (parts were very hard to find) but this Ac issue is the only hiccup that I can't get to find a solution for.
Before, I even took the car to dodge dealership, they did an Ac system pressure check and all was good.
I will plug all back together later today and I hope to God that the oil in the plugs was the issue tripping to stop the Ac compressor clutch after about 1 minute of starting the car.

Hey Scotty, I have a 94 C4 Corvette. While driving the car suddenly shuts off. I sometimes have to wait 3-5 min before trying to restart to get it to kick back over. I've noticed some electrical issues within the car like the door switches moving by themselves as well as door is open light constantly coming on. Could this just be a bad computer that can just simply be replaced. I know the fuel pump works through the computer and if it malfunctions, could cut off the fuel supply to the engine. Replaced Radiator, Water Pump, Opti Spark, Spark Plugs, Fuel Pump and Battery. I appreciate all the help cause I put thousands into my corvette already and it runs good otherwise.

Usually it doesn't matter. However if you remove the positive first, be really careful while you're doing it not to accidentally touch the wrench to any adjacent metal. Good practice says to take the neg off first, for the following reason. If you remove the neg first, it won't matter if you accidentally touch metal, since the frame is also neg. Once the neg is off, accidentally touching pos to the frame is unlikely cause sparks.

So, I thought I may have accidently disturbed the old factory electric connection. The EGR vacuum regulator solenoid was given pulse voltage, so a good connection is probably vital. Now I want to thoroughly improve the connection at solenoid harness before other action. Do you have any advice on how to make a tight connection, or other advice to the above diagnose. I bought a bottle of Deox D100. Should I apply generously to the connector and harness? Thanks again in advance.

My Computer is in the engine compartment, why is it placed in a spot where it can get so hot and bake? By the way, my PCM only cost me a little over $200 and installed myself in a few minutes. Dodge wanted $1,600 to do the same. I am sure they would maybe have used a little more expensive brand new PCM but the refurbished I got has worked great for a year so far.

venturi carbs get better gas mileage but must be kept very clean. Piston carbs will run dirty on shitty gas but don't work as well and get worse gas mileage

Excellent Scotty- Got any good advice on electrical display issue with Dashboard of 2006 Chrysler 300c?! I checked Oil - Water. For over heating issues. I'll move onto dust on fuses next. I believe there maybe a "Touching" or no slack in wiring in the engine compartment. I'll wait for your review. - She's got a new Engine - different from the Factory one that DROWNED because of the Faulty Gas Sensor.

if you have the actual sending unit that runs the gauge and there is no wire on it, no, that's not normal. but realize they can put sending units on more than one place

I don't use dielectrical grease on computer connections, too many terminals and it can make connectors not tight as the connectors won't fit on right then

You can say that again. Thanks for responding quickly. Your videos have been invaluable as I've worked on all many systems recently. I sprayed out my PCM connectors today just as you demonstrate here. Hopefully it will finally solve my intermittent driveability issues. Fingers crossed as I'm out of ideas. My car does runs great 90% of the time now. How about a video on power windows problems for older 4th Gen (93-96) F-Bodys? Or one on how do you scan these 94s 12 pin flashable PCMs? Thanks!

Did it work? I’m having issues with my 2010 Mustang GT my scanner ain’t giving me a code for a bad PCM just a PO443 which I already replaced but the check engine light ain’t going away & scanner is till giving me the PO443. After seeing this video I’m hoping it just needs to be cleaned just like Scotty did 🤞

oil in vacuum lines means that the engine is pretty darn worn, or you have bad gaskets, like intake manifold or head gasket leaks.

After reading this video, feel it maybe the ECM connector need clean? Do you have any opinion? By the way, thinking about buy a cheap ECM from eBay. Do you think the used ECM may need dealer re-program, even with the same make/model/engine? Thanks a lot.

Scotty, after you spray the cleaner on you scrub it a little bit with a brush or something? Or do you just spray it and reattach the harness?

  • @scottykilmer
    @scottykilmer  12 лет назад

many things can cause that, from clogged intake manifold passageways to computer circuit or wiring problems. Try cleaning the intake first.
