I knew about pivoting data in Excel but I didn’t realize why it’s so important for use in Tableau. This video very clearly and very simply illustrates the situation. Thanks for a great video!
Great video - very helpful to learn how 'dimensions' are often structured as separate columns in many of my datasets. I haven't used Pivot before so really great to see your examples. Much appreciated Ollie
It depends on the data source. Some data sources in Tableau Desktop support pivots and some don't. I don't know about Tibco. As far as I know, pivots are available for every data source in Tableau Prep.
The only way that might be possible is with two different data sources that are combined with a relationship. Tableau Prep is better than Tableau Desktop at performing multiple pivots!

Does pivot work on data sources? including Tibco Data virtualization tables?
It depends on the data source. Some data sources in Tableau Desktop support pivots and some don't. I don't know about Tibco. As far as I know, pivots are available for every data source in Tableau Prep.

How about 2 pivot roles in a sheet ?
Unfortunately, Tableau Desktop limits you to a single pivot per data source. However, Tableau Prep provides the ability to do unlimited pivots!
