The reason the initial joins failed is because you only joined the review table on id = id and didn't also join the review dates, so every review per location was added to every date, rather than a 1:1 relationship. The join was bad.
sad but true, going forward, would be better to do the joining practice in SQL first before going to tableau. Hard to handle and confirmed the correctness of each joining if we have bulk data with many columns in tableau
big thanks to @alex i was trying to make this project with the latest datasets but unfortunately new datasets dont have the zip codes. any tip on getting the maps without the zipcode data?
In the latest data set, Listing excel sheet does not contain zipcode field. Zipcode field is very crucial in this analysis. Please suggest any workaround to this.
Thanks for the amazing videos, Alex. Much appreciated. Quick question though: I tried joining just the Listing and Calendar as shown in the video but I’m getting an error message that “Tableau Public only works with less than 1 million rows of data”. It’s not 15 million for me. I even tried the Date filter of just the 2016 data, that too is more than 1 million rows of data. How should I go about this?
Thank you Alex for such a helpful video. I really enjoyed the whole project and your amazing explanation as well. I just have one question on your analysis, I don't know if I missed it or if it's actually wrong, tho: Why is it you decided to use SUM of the price for the Data Viz of Price for the year? I mean, when doing it on my own I thought it makes more sense if you take that price and use it as AVG, because that way you can show the avg increase or decrease of the price of the property listed all through the year. Please, if you or any of the other fellow viewers can share any answer to this question, it'd be appreciated.
Any chance we can see a part 2 or a more complex project to understand what advanced Tableau entails? Like trends(WoW, YoY) via calculated fields & parameters and LOD's? Would this dashboard be worth including in a portfolio, or should one really aim for more complex topics?
I think this is a good dashboard for beginners. As you get more advanced you should replace it with the better dashboards. I do plan on making more complex tableau (and other) projects in the future.
Hi Alex, don't you think that the first and second viz just show the exact same info, so maybe we could just use one of them instead of two to avoid repetition. Anyways, much appreciation to you and your amazing content !
Thank you Alex. I just completed this project and I tried saving it but it shows an error message saying I should extract the data. How do I extract my file from Tableau Public?, I am not seeing the option to extract in my Data Source
Hi Alex, thank you for the great tutorial, I have a question on sheet 4, would it be more meaningful to have sum price of bedrooms instead of average, since the sum would indicate that the 2-bedrooms are often booked more than others, while averaging the price would always be 5-bedrooms > 4 bedrooms > 3..etc??

Thanks for the videos. Simple and straightforward!
Thanks for your efforts Alex. Very nicely explained. Raj
In the latest data set, Listing excel sheet does not contain zipcode field. Zipcode field is very crucial in this analysis. Please suggest any workaround to this.
Thank you! I've learned so much from you!
For the map, to color the zip code areas by their average price rankings, simply add color to AVG(Price).
Thank you SO MUCH FOR THIS!!! YOU ARE HELPING ME OUT SO MUCH, THANK YOU BRO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much for this Alex. really insightful and helpful.
Hi Alex, don't you think that the first and second viz just show the exact same info, so maybe we could just use one of them instead of two to avoid repetition.
Anyways, much appreciation to you and your amazing content !
good work man really thanks
hope you continue
Thank you so much for all of your tutorials
Thank you Alex. I just completed this project and I tried saving it but it shows an error message saying I should extract the data. How do I extract my file from Tableau Public?, I am not seeing the option to extract in my Data Source
This is great. Just wanted to point out that studio apartments have 0 bedrooms. Some small families may want that. 🙂
24:11 "This is the worst visualization I have ever seen" lmao
Hi Alex, thank you for the great tutorial, I have a question on sheet 4, would it be more meaningful to have sum price of bedrooms instead of average, since the sum would indicate that the 2-bedrooms are often booked more than others, while averaging the price would always be 5-bedrooms > 4 bedrooms > 3..etc??
@ALEX - You are terrific. Great series!
Hello sir,
I have just taken admission in B.Sc Data Analytics and I am fresher, so what things I should do so I become better than others and have good skills and a bright future....
I think he has a video on it where he explains the skills required for Data Analytics in detail
Great, easy to follow tutorial!
Alex, A1 video! What training would you recommend to get certified in Tableau? If this is affordable to start with, even better! Take care.
Great video! I wanted to pull data that was newer and I ran into an issue - the zip code column is missing. My data set was for Chicago, IL in 2023. I was hoping and praying that I could convert lat and long to zip but no dice. There is a geocode conversion macro you can build but I'm working on a mac and the specific excel format isn't supported. Anyone have any suggestions? The zipcode data is a really big part of this project LOL
Same! Can’t find Zipcode field in Seattle, WA 2023 data either… Have you figured out how to do this?
same have the same issue
