    Good day, thank you very much for this video - I have a 97' Casio GT-000 G-Cool (1633) watch which lost its sound after battery change at a watch repair facility (they had to clean the watch because it had some kind of blue residue underneath the back plate). I thought they damaged the "speaker" in the process but looks like it is repairable. Thank you again for showing how to fix it :)
    UPDATE: after opening the watch, indeed, one spring was missing (under the battery); made a spring out of a tiny enamel wire (stripped the coating with 120 grit sandpaper) by coiling it around a tiny acupuncture needle, cut to length, inserted into the hole, closed the backplate, and VOILA! The beeper/alarm is back :) Thank you so much for posting the video!

    I have a G-Shock GW-5600E and this gave me the information I needed! Really appreciate the video!!! In my watches case, you can put the back on either way, but one way, not knowing any better, the ground doesn't make contact with the case and no noise... The other way (the PROPER way - LOL), it does. For the timer while in the gym, this is a necessary sound for me.

    Thanks for fixing my problem. I did not know that 1 of 2 springs in my Casio DBC-610 watch jumped out to be lost forever when I removed the case back for a battery replacement. That trick with the watch band spring bar was perfect for the missing spring. I just cut it to the same length as the other original spring with my diagonal flush-cut plyers. The beep is back along with the hourly chime!

    I slip the spring over a pin and guide it back in the recess .... never trusted pliers as I am wary of damaging the spring or it ‘jumps’ from the grip and you lose it..... been repairing (and breaking) watches since I was a kid 👍

    I've got a Casio Solar G-Shock Solar watch, a GW-530A. Sometime ago I needed to replace the (rechargeable) battery. Opened it up and sure as heck, ended up losing one of the VERY, VERY, TINY springs. Ended up taking it in to a local watch repair shop. Owner did something similar to what you've done here using spring bar springs. Problem is that the replacement battery was not a rechargeable type, worked ok for a couple years until it didn't. I recently opened it back up once again to replace the battery, this time ultimate installing the OEM Panasonic CTL-1616 rechargeable battery (not a standard 3V, CL-1616 lithium although it did work). Long, boring story short, ran across your video here showing how to crack open one of those spring bars, removing and sizing the springs; something I should have paid attention to while the watch repair guy did the same thing. Regardless, the DIY repair you show here will likely be of use for me sometime in the future as well as for many other Casio watch owners.
    Thanks!

    Thank you! I changed the battery in my Ronstan ClearStart sailing watch and lost the sound. The issue was simply that I’d put the rear cover on upside down. Never knew that bit on the back of the case was the speaker! Always thought it was to stop the battery shorting on the cover.

    Thank you!!! ...short story is that I replaced the battery in my Casio aw-80, 30 telememo and accidentally took out the spring which later didn't know in what tiny little hole goes in, so I took it all to the repair shop and told them this, and it sat there for like 2 months (budget around u$s20-) without them calling me or anything, went and got it back kinda upset and BOOM I WATCHED YOUR VIDEO!!! ...thanks a lot, solution in 10 min. God bless you!!!

    Great video, thanks mate. I bought a new battery thinking that was the problem, when the beeping still wasn’t happening, I googled it and your video came up. That fixed my problem. Note: I had two holes in my Casio W89, which I put half a spring in each. The beeping worked, but the watch wouldn’t function (just displayed 12:00:00 and wouldn’t progress nor respond to button presses). It turned out that I only needed a spring in the smaller hole. Works flawlessly since that. Thanks again.

    This is amazing content! Keep going. I had a similar issue. Turns out, the watch was repaired prior. However, they didn't affix the backplate properly and the speaker wasn't aligning with the spring. So, I unscrewed the backplate and looked at my other G-shock (3230), and noticed the backplate was upside down. There was a spring in the watch, just not making contact with the speaker. So yea. It Works!!!

    I have a 70s nentime with the same problem. the spring was bent sideways, tried pushing it back, and plate back, and made crackle of alarm sound, but still not working. looks like that white sticker part has worn away, does it need to be in contact with it too work properly?

    • @digitalcasio2704
      @digitalcasio2704  4 года назад +1

      I'm not familiar with this. Sometimes there is a sticker that acts as an insulator which if damaged or missing will cause a short circuit. If you are referring to the piezo speaker and that has damage then that will also cause no sound. The fact you did get some kind of sound from it suggests that it is damaged. The only real test is to hold the back and try to contact the speaker and the spring away from where they normally contact. Sorry I can't help you much with this.

      AC=All Clear. It is used when a new battery is installed. Using tweezers you touch the battery with the AC to short circuit and reset the watch. Sometimes after installing a new battery the watch doesn't function correctly so the AC is used to make it work correctly. Thanks for subscribing.

    I bought a used A159W 593 module, but there is no sound. Did i miss that spring? I opened it but i don't see any place where it is supposed to be. And I don't see any nylon isolation cover so the metal cover of the battery don't touch the back cover of the watch. So do I missing the spring or the nylon battery cover? Back cover has that metal disk used for alarm glued correctly on it.

    • @nikossiotas
      @nikossiotas 2 месяца назад

      I will answer my question, in case someone has the same no sound problem like me.
      My A159W model with the newer version of 593 module inside, it didn't had any spring.
      It was just that white nylon isolating piece that i was missing, and this was the reason that i didn't had sound.
      I put a piece of insulating tape on it, to cover the left and right extension of the battery cover, leaving only the top extended part of the battery cover and the bottom extended part of the module touching the back case of the watch, and now it works fine!
      So anything nylon, or cellophane, or a piece of a vinyl glove (you probably have some of those laying around from the covid era) will work.
      And by now that i am thinking of it, maybe i should have used something with less glue than the insulating tape...

    Thanks - is there a way to increase the sound - I can only here my watch beep when I have it right at my ear - any help highly appreciated - is there probably a second spring missing if sound is low? I have a DW-402

      I don't think so. You could try holding the buzzer against the spring in a different location. By that i mean move the back a little from where the spring usually makes contact. It won't fix the problem bur you can at least figure out if the speaker is damaged.

      It's a solar watch and I'm not sure what you are experiencing. It maybe the capacitor cell is dieing. Alternatively it could be the polarizer has perished.

    It's a very common problem and people throw their watches away due to that reason.

    I have a DBA 80 that i bought recently and i took the module out to clean the inside of the case. This watch has a different type of speaker that sits in the front behind a grille. After i cleaned the case i put it all back in together but the speaker doesnt seem to work anymore. I tried a bunch of times to reassemble and look for anything that might be broken but i just couldnt find a fix. Any ideas?

      I remember I had the same issue doing exactly the same thing. I finally got it working by trial and error. Try holding the speaker onto the module and push the button contacts. Make tiny adjustments to the speaker orientation. Hopefully you will get sound from it again and determine that the speaker is okay. I wish you the best of luck. Let me know how you get on.

      DigitalCasio I tried what you said but with no result, the speaker still wont work. It was working fine until i pulled it out. Could i have damaged something? I was pretty careful handling it.

      Is there a metal frame on the inside of the case?

    • @TheAlexm374
      @TheAlexm374 4 года назад +1

      DigitalCasio The module is made of plastic and it has a metal plate on the back that clips on all four sides of the module and keeps it all in one piece. The speaker itself is connected to the module by just two metal tabs and it only goes one way in the case. As i can observe there are two other metal tabs that stick out, one in the back and one in the front (the front one slides horizontally and can be removed, also can slide in a position that once pressed touches a bit of metal in the middle above the speaker). The case itself has a metal plate on the front on the inside that goes right below the front buttons from the bottom right to where the screen starts.

      No. It doesn't use a spring. It is built in, a metal bar that bends.

    I have this problem for a Casio W-24 A Marlin. The clip holding the battery has a metal tongue touching the back, but there is really no good place for a spring. I am even not sure the W-24 uses the back case as speaker, the back case just seems like a metal disc. Maybe something for a professional?

    • @digitalcasio2704

      The Marlins are different in that the speaker is on the front. There isn't a spring but two metal contacts top and bottom of the module face.

      Try removing both ends of the spring bar and force the spring out with a paper clip or something.

      @@digitalcasio2704 @DigitalCasio well I got the spring out and put it in where I thought it should go, I tried a couple different places, but still no sound, I'm ready to give up at this point.
      I have the AE-1000W so it's a little bit different than the one in your video, but the title does say "how to fix a Casio watch" not so in my case, lot of hassle and expense trying to fix a $20 watch, throwing it out would have been a better decision.
