- We are restoring a Citizen Multialarm back to glory by polishing the glass and case, and fixing the microlight and alarm.
Thanks to this clip I could fix the alarm of my Citizen watch, which has the same movement but a different case. The spring was missing, didn't know! Now it works great! Bought it for 10€ and the seller wasn't sure it worked, so I was the only bidder.

Nice work, i really learnt something today regarding glass polishing, i got hold of an old orient lcd ( i asked you about the battery yesterday)and i have refurbished the case to new looking, one thing i have to tell you, when polishing always try to keep the edges sharp, thats what gives the watch the high tech look i take out the glass if possible so i can polish the face of the piece like you polish the glass then i take a coarse bosch pad and give the face the deep brushed surface and last i take a steel sponge used in kitchen to make brushed steel look new and rubs the piece gently till i have reached the result in the brushing that i want, deep and shallow uniform lines like ones factory made,thatmethod works for me, found through endless combinations of trial and error

I don't really care about alarms but that is one beautiful watch. I wish I had watched this before I lost a battery clip retaining screw on my Citizen's LCD watch. I will buy a bag of screws, but that's $20 that could have bought me another watch! I will use your paper towel trick from now on. Some of my watches have really scratched up crystals., including a Sensor LCD watch that I just got working. I will follow this video too the letter. The case is also pitted. Since it is gold plated, I will have to leave it as is. Great video!

I don’t want to interfere, the job with the glass is well done but I think my method is even better, I’ve done a lot of crystals.
The crystals get a all new look and there is no risk of waves in the glass.
This is only possible on flat crystal that pops out of the case a bit, it doesn’t have to be much depending on how deep the scratches are.
First, if the scratches are really bad I use a 360 grit paper to get rid of the deepest scratches followed by a 400 paper which is also okay to start of with if the scratches are not too deep, I’ve even used 280 for starters sometimes when needed. I’m talking about papers supposed to be used with water but you only use water the first four step , then you go all dry. You follow with 800, 1000, 2000, 3000,5000 and last 7000.
From 1000 and onwards you use no water for a better result, this should all be done on a flat glass surface and you need to be sure to stretch the paper through the whole process with the hand that’s free. You can use the papers many time, so it’s a good investment.
When the paper turns white from the glass you keep on going on that same spot, it polish the glass even more, this is from 2000 and up.
Good luck, please leave a comment if anyone have tried this, or try it and say what you think of the result. I can only say the result always looks super, just like on a brand new watch.

i have a citizen similar to this one, and one of the golden contacts that supose to go to the microcontroller is missing, is there a way to replace the contact on this kind of pcb? i tried to put some soldering iron there but it wont stick, also, i dont have continuity on the pantch were the contact was suposed to be.

Hi, I have an S20 in my collection so I know that the glass has a very irregular shape. It will be hard to cut it to that shape and the graphics are on the glass, those will be very hard to reproduce. Your best bet is to find a replacement, or a donor watch, or sell it for parts.

When polishing the case do you worry about the printed lettering being erased?
Yes, you have to be careful, if you have printed lettering like in this case around the glass on the exterior of the watch, you have to be careful when rubbing it against the sandpaper to only touch the glass. It helped alot to have such a thick glass. Also the Cerium oxide slurry can have the same effect so you need to be careful there as well. Constantly sto and check for progress or any misspolishing

should be possible as long as you have a piezo disc. Bu remember that whatever you use to attach it to the caseback should be conductive.

I have a citizen multi-alarm III. The piezo buzzer is actually on the inside of the glass. The alarm is barely audible. Any ideas as to how I can fix it? Thanks.
Hi, if alarm is bzrely audible make sure the piezo is only touched by one spring or similar metallic piece. If piezo is touched by any other part of the watch module it may be grounded which is not what you want

Hi, I did my first glass polish but I ended up with a slight 'orange peel' effect. The glass not perfectly reflecting the light. Any idea where I went wrong? Thanks.
Not deep enough, you should sand it to a perfectly flat surface and then use cerium oxide.
@@VintageDigitalWatches Thanks, the orange peel effect was all over the glass. I think I should have just gone a bit further with the 600 grit paper. Anyway it's looking a lot better now after I polished it some more with a thicker paste.
Hello. I have a Seiko A939, the previous owner removed the piezo and the spring. Can I use piezo + spring from a Casio? Will it work?

You would have to fabricate one and would not be so easy.

Hello, I need some advices! I would be very greatful for your help. I followed your glass polishing process. But I couldn't make the glass mirror shine. Isn't really foggy, but not perfectly shiny. What can I do. I tried the cerium-oxide several types of wet, but nothing.
Skip any wet sandpaper and just do it without. Go 600, 800, 1000, 2000 grit then cerium oxyde. Your crystal must be glass for this to work, it will not work on an acrylic crystal.

There were very deep scratches, but I removed them properly. But I used dremel with soft cotton, hard cotton, ear swabs with hand, etc.

My Grandfather has sent me on a mission to find an instruction book for his old citizen digital watch that looks very similar to yours pictured here as we are wanting to change the time/date so he can wear it once again but aren’t having much luck. On the back of his watch is stamped : p110-311451 TA, 5118116, DO-6035,GN 4-S. Would anyone here be able to advise me how to change the date and time on models like this or by chance have a copy of a user manual they would be happy to photograph or share by any chance? Yes, that is OK, but 1200 is a fine grit, if you want to remove scratches that you can hook your nail into then it will take quite a lot of time with 1200.

@@lund905360 Polywatch is more for acrylic no matter what they claim. You can try to use it but I recommend that the last grit you use is 2000 if you want to Polywatch the glass crystal.

You mean polishing a glass on a Seiko?
Yes...its a double layer..extra hard.
