I owned an e63 m6 and I really bought it for the engine alone. When it was going right it was wonderful as the torque delivery from the v10 was very progressive as the revs would climb and gearing was great too to extract so much performance at the upper end. The turbo cars bring in the torque too quickly making them less precise under heavy throttle lacking the delicassey that the v10 possessed. The e60 / e63 was a great setup (I only sold it as the running costs ended up too high in proportion to how much I got to drive it...it defo a meet your heroes car that wont disappoint)
Interesting your car is a bit lsss reliable than mine. My e60 M5 is very reliable than the guy who have a Honda Accord across the street

@@torpedo650 not really. My transmission is smg. The smg hydraulic system gives me issue after I changed out the smg fluid. As result, the new fluid even if it was the correct fluid killed one of the o-ring in the actuator block and had to have the transmission removed as that was the only way. I changed it out myself on a jack stand. The car is still on the original rod bearing. I barely rev the engine to 8,000 rpm. In fact, every cold start I always make sure the rpm is under 2,500 until operating temperature has been reached. Smg is reliable to me and the engine is really reliable. The most extensive works i done to the car was removing the transmission to get to the actuator block that has solenoid with o rings and since the transmission was out I decided to changed out all the o- rings from lower Block to top block. And clean out the pump motor and replaced the pump motor with a new brushing. All of this only cost me $150 and hours of my time. At the shop, you will likely shell maybe 1,500 to 3,000.

Сразу видно ты фанат E60 M5. V10 на компрессоре... Атмо это c63 amg 6.2 в 204 кузове, вот это атмо. 467 сил в стоке, прошивкой и убиранием катализаторов 570 сил.
Внимание, только е60 положил стрелку, это опять доказывает что машины раньше делали лучше!
Ограничитель сняли вот и ушла
Это ещё не значит, что реально разогнался)))
А теперь поговорим про надёжность и тюнинг.

Don't know why, but the E60 is one of my favourite cars ever made by BMW, let alone the V10 version which sounds INSANE. Of course the newer ones are great too, but I just love that one.
The new ones are certainly quicker and more modern, but there’s something special in having an V10 in an super sedan like that

Definitely the E60. V10 sounds incredible and keeps pulling. At 200mph and temperature needle is staying slap bang in the middle. Hardly even trying.

Every old cars needs a remaster. The E60 M5 with a low pressure twin turbo 5.0l V10 that chunks out 600hp mated to the new 8dct, improved suspension, gauge lighting from the F10 M5, features and tech from the F10 M5, etc.
Who says old cars don't need to be remastered? It's like keeping a 1991 McLaren F1 but leaving it to rust and dust.

There’s no doubt that the F90 is the best M5 ever made in every measurable way, but it lacks the character and excitement you got from the E60, largely because of the noise you got from the V10.

The v10 is my winner for sure! Can't wait to grab one here in 2022 it's really still an amazing car. I wasn't into tye f10/f13 when they came out due to being TT and not a v10. Then after a few exhaust companies got hold of them. Baby those things sound nasty low end. Top end they lose to the air of the turbos. The F90 does nothing visually or emotionally for me. The e60/63 both have a place in a gargage even if both are the same engine and driveline. Same for f10/f13 could own both and love them equally souly on their looks

The E60 V10 sounds like V8 in my opinion tbh.
But not bad.
All three are very impressive and capable cars. While the E60’s V10 has it’s mechanical issues (rod bearings) and can be expensive to regularly maintain, I am still partial to its unique character.

F10 M5 and F90 M5 would smack the E60, in performance and reliability.
But for a driving experience and fun factor, and a 4 door manual V10 you just can’t go wrong.. even if it cost $25k for a new engine when it spins a rod bearing lol unless you buy used 💁🏻♂️

Supra isn't meant to have a big and heavy v10 engine but a light and very tuneable engine. B58 can complete all of these

Even after all these years, the E39 M5 is still the best one. It may not have the best top speed or the best acceleration speed out of the M5 cars, but it is the best looking and best sounding in my opinion.

this is only a viable test if we can confirm these three cars were driven on the exact same road at the exact same location going the same direction. Meaning, the first two were not on a flat road, but yet the e60 was going downhill. Nevertheless, e60 is the best hands down. the F10 and F90 sound like grand tourismo 2 cars. Also, all you have to worry about with the e60 is some rod bearings really. F10, engine can cease, but nothing to bad. Same for the f90, just not as common on the (internal to bmw) spec 2 version.
If the Alpina B5 reaches 205 mph with 600hp a 4.4 N63 variant, imagine the CS with 626hp that generates much more hp than the announced by BMW, it should certainly reach at least 210 mph with the limiter completely removed.

No piped engine sounds in my e61 M5. Top speed = see above. Acceleration = surface and tyre dependant. Handling = can't complain. Comfort better than all the e60/61 550i I've driven, but if you want comfort buy an e66 with active suspension, active anti-roll and poofy seats - they're lovely. The newer cars are easier to drive and isolate you from just how fast they are going. For the money; M cars are simply astounding, but most people just see another BMW and could not be more wrong. However, there will always be something faster. If you want to go faster ask your doc for an evaluation/ get lessons from a professional instructor/ join the RAF.
even if acceleration and transmission are better in the newer ones, the e60 m5 is the best for sound and top speed
Why does the F10 interior acceleration noise sound so odd, this video showed an exhaust clip but on other videos it just doesn't sound like a BMW V8.
Nothing gonna be like a V10, especially when it is a BMW racing engine. However, E60 is a incredibly expensive car to own since it require serious maintenance, gass, oil etc. money and also at least 20 Thousand USD available in the back account to use for repairing it, incase it fails in some point (İt will sooner or later, especially after 80 Thousand miles and more because of that extremely powerful v10 acing motor) and undrivable in any kind of rain, water, ice, snow etc. normal weather conditions. However, it is still one of the best performance car ever made and actually the best M car among 5, 6, 8 M heavy weight models.
I cannot imagine how crazy that would be to use that V10 engine being uısed in the new 5 and 8 series RWD based AWD cars.

@Andrew Ball the S14 might be just a 4-banger but considering the time it was made, that engine was years ahead of competitors. So in that context i still think it was one of the best. The S38 is probably on the top as well. Cheers

The E60 M5 has way higher top end than the newer models, but the newer models get there quicker. Imo better acceleration is better than top speed.

The turbo's of the F10 get out of breath. I have an E60 M5 and an F10 M5.
The newer M5s are easily faster, but the E60 M5 is much more enjoyable because it's a product of what BMW has done best for so many years up until now.. and that is race inspired, naturally aspirated high speed engines.

E60 M5 shifts were early though, I mean I get it, playing it nice and safe, but she will be very happy as long as you don't go over 8300 :)
Man that v10 is a beast, the only other engine that sounds better is the lexus LFA

The e60 is at the very least tuned because stock is can not go over 300km but still this is very impressive that it can go so much high top speed but the gearing is a factor in this
Yes, it's written at 2:23 that the E60 M5 has its speed limiter removed, with tuning obviously...

In my opinion BMW should keep V10 for further M5 generations even with turbos. Simply saying - M5 should be V10 !! That's it.

meh i got a F10 535i , test drove a 2014 F10 a few years ago... while i loved the updated Luxury features, it did not compare to the E60
Supercharged it after i tried going turbo... i was disappointed

The turbo engines run out of steam toward the redline, the v10 is the opposite, it makes more power the closer you get to the redline. Today's turbo cars Hve a fat torque curve and power falls off when you get close to redline.
