@@markmorrow8o it’s not an unreliable as people think, all it requires is regular maintenance. The problem is a lot of cheap idiots had these cars for last 5 years and ruined them by not keeping up with the maintenance. Now they are increasing in value and good ones are hard to find
@@CovKid2K10 No brah. I have seen a bunch of people that did maintenance regularly, licked the car clean basically. And 1 out of 5 cars always had some issues, for whatever reason. A friend of mine is an experienced mechanic and he said that e60s motor has an issue every 25k. Thats not something you can simply shrug off as lack of maintenance.

Bought it in 2013. I still have it. Sleeping in my garage but will be back soon after a good maintenance… the acceleration is unlimited and this car is so savage. Make you feel everything. Driving it in beast mode as a rally car… good old days… now i am 32, 2 babies, i can’t give 100% of myself into driving this beast but 60-70% make me happy too… 2.nd gear between 4-8000 rpm, the sound of it…

What a Sunday morning treat this video was. Legendary car... I have a 2008 interlagos blue on white leather six speed manual e60. I had it out yesterday for the first time since last fall.
Truly legendary car and with a custom exhaust and carbon intakes/full carbon plenum it sounds better than any other V10. Reliability...the biggest problem with this beast isn't even reliability it's actually the badge. If this amazing car had a Lamborghini, Pagani badge etc no one give a crap if the rod bearings, gearbox went out every 10K miles because of the amazing driving experience it gives you but because it's made by the same company that produced a 114i etc it's moaned about, mostly by people who genuinely don't have any idea of what they're talking about (show me another V10 especially a high revving F1 derived V10 that can get up to 200K miles which can also be applied to why in my opinion some people put a CGT or LFA above it for sound...it's "just a BMW". Stock? Agreed but modified is totally different level). As for the gearbox I prefer it in a lot of ways to the DCTs in my M4 Comp and M5 Comp. Most people a) drove one for 15 mins and didn't know how to drive it properly b) had it in Auto c) owned/drove an absolute lemon. Once fully learned in manual mode in S5/6 setting it's absolutely amazing and still fast even today. Source: I've actually had one for 5 years with no expense spared which is a lot more credible than 90% of the fools who have no idea what they're talking about when analysing this car. The E60 M5 was, is and will forever be a legend.
Few years ago I had the same M5 but was black. I had it with full Eisenmann exhaust, H&R springs and 20" HRE wheels...best sounding car I ever had. The only thing I hate was the gearbox...it was horrendous...and the launch control was brutal you feel like the car was gonna split in 2...but for me is one of the best engines ever made for a saloon car
The best ever in my opinion, her looks her sound is amazing. For a better exhaust sound, check the catalytic converters and put the exhaust from the Supersprint. The car seems to be old but looks like new, very well maintained and the engine runs well.
Not really, the gearbox was really bad, the engine doesnt really fit a luxury sedan since it has low torque and high revs, it feels slow and weak on low revs, and it is very unreliable.
@@kaisuhina8024 Nothing less to say, it's still fun to enjoy as you don't get V10 sedans anymore, that sound is also starting to fade away because V10s are dieing breeds. There are a few manuals still out there for this car in good condition. Besides, no M5 or atleast 95% is certainly Toyota reliable but they aren't as bad as bad as the ones with the SMG. Also, the SMG is adequate in terms of the shift speed... It's just very brutal. I still agree with you're point.

Beautiful pristine E60 M5 looking really beautiful in white. The interior looks pristine too. I just love the conventional dials - call me old-fashioned. While the performance was superb, I noticed the gear-changes were quite brutal.

Don't judge it by its pedigree. BMW at the time had a brand image stronger than Lexus and perhaps even Porsche. The fact that this engine was placed in a super sedan, wagon, coupe and convertible doesn't undermine it. Straightpipe it and then the other V10's are no match for the S85.
My friend had a 2010 one in white with black interior bought new and sold in 2015. We called her Wendy and the only aftermarket part on her was a meisterschaft gtc exhaust.. She drank a qt of 10w-60 a month and averaged around 240miles to an 18gallon tank, but we didn't care. That car was so much fun to rip around with the exhaust open. Would scare everyone. The maintenance was insane too. Clutch replace at 60k was $4300. It ate it's rear Michelin Pilots every 15k miles. Hell of machine, but like dating a stripper haha. Miss you Wendy.

Basically a manual transmission controlled by a computer and other different types of mechanisms, hince why they call it a automated manual or single clutch.

I think this is the FIRST SMG BMW car I've heard that doesn't sound like you're running over something everytime you upshift. I've driven several SMG M3's, one with the CSL tune and all of them were garbage!
What a super clean example of a V10 M5. The V120 M5 and V8 M3 are the last M cars with engines built on the M philosophy. Race derived, high revving N?A with ITB's. The V10 M5 still remains as my all time fave M5 and in my opinion has more road presence than the current model!

@@chicago4809 2008 Model has 93k Kilometers, which is around 55k miles I d guess? 2006 Model has 160k kilometers so roughly 100k miles. Since i Drive my 2008 only Like 30 miles a year, no Problems yet. The 2006 i ve had since 8 1/2 years and drove it for 30000 kilometers or +- 20k miles: clutch was gone, not due to wear but an oil leak (Bad oil Pan gasket), 1 Bad coil, both fuel pumps, and yearly oil Change, Air Filters and so on. Plus i had the rod bearings done, they looked good after 150k kilometers.
This S85 naturally aspirated V10 engine is a legendary engine. This is by far the best sounding M5 ever made in my personal opinion.

I have an interlagos blue one.... with a built engine... suspension upgrades. And that is not top speed at all... about 50kph low.
