    Just a tip. Tap the screw driver with a small hammer lightly after it is in place on the screw it will help loosen the muck built up and make it 100 times easier to remove and won't damage the screw

    all in the learning process gary a couple of things i found u could improve on one is the screws match the screw driver to the screws if u start to strip the screw head get a old pillow or something soft sit the carby on that than use a impact driver again with the correct screw piece and only gently tap the impact drive just enough to loosen the screw
    the other thing is never spray carby cleaner on the rubber gaskets it makes the rubber gasket swell and it will no longer fit back on the carby

      What is the right driver to use ? Is there a particular one we can order on line?

    Notice all the physical and mental stress involved with using a #2 screwdriver on JIS screws. Phillips head screws were designed to "cam out" (strip) to prevent overtightening of the screw. JIS doesn't incorporate this arcane design.

    Actually, I'm sure I have plenty of JIS bits, but ultimately and typically it is easier to just use the one I grab.

    I understand that Gary, but in a Japanese dominated market. TVs, cars, motorcycles, pwcs, etc. it's not a bad investment to consider. The difference is night and day.

    DO NOT use carb cleaner on or near rubber parts such as in this video and less importantly, use a proper Japanese Industrial Standard screwdriver.

    This is not the way to clean a Mikuni carb.Never spray carb cleaner on the non metal parts.Buy a rebuild kit with a new needle and seat.Clean the metal parts only and rebuild it with the new parts.Then do a pop off test before you install and tune it.

    My carb keeps dripping fuel in the inlet after I cleaned the carb it was over but after 15 min riding it started dripping again could this be some dirty stuff in the tank that gets sucked in in the carb and it causes to spill the fuel even when it’s not running

    I looked up a photo of the difference and I do have a bunch of them...just didn't know it.

    Sorry the camera batteries ran out. I cleaned the jets and fuel pump as well and the ski runs fine now. I put this up anyway because someone might still find it useful.

    i would suggest spraying that carb cleaner into a jar and just drop the gaskets in and let them soak overnight. You can clean the rest of the carburetor with some sand and a toothbrush. For best results, dont wash the sand off. Just put the carb back together and the left over sand will continue to clean.

    those damn metering block screws are always a bitch even with the proper head, I have had to drill so many out, the metal is so soft and galvanic corrodes to the carb body, I have contemplated using anti seize on them,

    • @aDIYCarGuy
      @aDIYCarGuy  7 лет назад

      Might as well try the anti sieze and see how it works out, also try the Vampliers for stuck screws: amzn.to/2sPJNRl , I wish I had them back then, they're the most useful tool I own now
