The Porsche GT3 RS is the sharpest scalpel the company will sell you. It has the hottest version of their flawless N/A engine: 4 liters, 520 horsepower, no turbos. It has the sharpest, fastest gearbox on the market. It's nearly a race car, and yet, there is zero reason not to use one as a daily driver. Before we start driving 992's next week, it's time to set the barometer.
Get ya Dillons here!

Porsche Cars, NA provided the vehicle, insurance, and a tank of fuel for this review.
I don't normally watch entire One Takes, but goddamn do I love the sound of that motor. I'm here for the whole thing now.
I'm not even "watching" it. Coding and listening to it in the background and it's mesmerizing.
Same
For sure. I'm the same way but I was transfixed. I wish even one more manufacturer would chase responsiveness and rpm with an na internal combustion engine alone. The sound's my favorite part as well, it goes
4K- waaaahhhgghg many orgasms
6k- smiting all your enemies
9k-....bears with chainsaws
if i won the lottery this is one of the first things im buying lol. i love these so much.
Dont think about the lottery ticket man. Start working and improving In life.
While the RS is special as hell, I'd have to go for a regular GT3. Imagine this amazing car, but with a manual.... Maybe not QUITE as precise, or stiff. May be a second or 2 slower around a track. But considering 99% of the time I would drive it would be on the road, I would take more engaging over faster ANY day
@@carscoffeeandcannabis-634 not even close to 1-2 seconds different. Even professional drivers can barely manage more than a quarter of a second between the 2 cars!!! This just isn't different enough to justify the jump in price.
@@raymondnewbill5294 Wow, crazy. Even more reason to go for the more comfortable, more engaging manual GT3. ONLY thing that I REALLY love about the RS over the standard GT3 is the lack of sound deadening, I want to hear as much of that musical engine as possible.... But I'm sure the GT3 is still plently loud enough for normal day to day driving. Closest I've come to driving one of these is a 2018 manual GTS, and that thing is special as hell. I imagine the GT3 is exponentially more so.
I never thought I'd want a Porsche, there are rarer and more extreme sports cars at the price (and if I bought a dedicated sports car, I want raw, rare and extreme)... but driving one completely changed my mind. Such a magnificent driving experience, never felt more connected to a car in my life
Whisky, Weed and whips Watson 100% agree with ur original comment regarding choosing a gt3 over this.
For the sound deadening sure that’s fun for a short ride but having the noise there all the time becomes annoying. Trust me the gt3 still gives you that mechanical noise/feedback and you’d appreciate not having more because for the long run, it becomes annoying when doing daily things like having a convo in the car, talking on the phone etc...
Fingers crossed you made a Just the Noise video hahaha
Wednesday!
TheSmokingTire my man
this as fuck
@@TheSmokingTire BLESSED. Thank you!
Glad I'm not the only one enjoying those! Please keep 'em coming Matt!
The magic of 9k RPM. Music to my ears!
This car sounds IDENTICAL to the gt3 cup cars. It's so awesome
love it. definitely want to pick up one of these.
can you hook a brother up, im just a mortal
@Ryan 🤣
Just love Porsche. Bought my first Porsche last year. 981 Boxster S. Love the car. Hopefully I will afford a GT3 RS in the future.
There Is No Substitute
If money wasn't an object, I would still want to pick this up over anything else.
Those SHIFTS and that exhaust note. You could've not said a single word, and those two things alone would say all that needs to be said.
Regardless, I always appreciate your commentary (as well as Zack's). Super excited that you put TST's podcast on Spotify as well!
The eloquence with which you deliver your experiences to us in these vehicles never ceases to amaze me! Thank you for the fantastic videos!
The mobbing with this car is impressive as well as throttle confidence. Love it.
I drove the 991.2 GT3 for 90 minutes at the Porsche Experience and it is an amazing machine. The GT3 RS is just a bit more car above that, more aero, more power, less weight, less rubber bushings. The exhaust is insanely loud for a new car with stock exhaust. Just like Matt says that engine gets you going very fast when you are running 7000-9000 RPM, and the sound is amazing.
Went to the Porsche Experience Center a while back and listening to the GT3 RS going around the track was absolutely the highlight of my day. It honestly makes the new turbo 911's sound weak in comparison. I could listen to that sound every day of my life and still not get tired of it.
Hi Matt! Another excellent review, this time of my all time favorite car in the world. This ain’t no daily driver. I’ve driven 2 examples of the prior version of the 991 GT3RS and even though it’s “lower HP” numbers make it a little “slower”, it was frankly magical to drive. The car makes my average track skills seem much better. I mean, the thing can do an all wheel slide into a hot corner and stay completely composed. It was so good, it’s worth considering selling internal organs to buy one. (Kids, don’t do that; it’s a figure of speech) The exhaust note at 9K alone is worth $180K and you get a car to go with it for the asking! All I can say is drive one on a track to be convinced it’s absolutely worth every penny. Let me know next time you’re in Playa Vista so we can play hooky from work and go drive these cars in Fontana. Best! Steve
there is still the GT2 RS . Love your video btw
Gt2rs is more about speed and the extra power and turbos limit the handling capability
5:30 Matt makes that maintenance guy's day...
Meanwhile, Zac mad AF
In Vegas I've had the honor of driving a Gt3rs. Simply the greatest race car to date.
This car is the definition of quality above quantity, without missing the quantity.
Anyone watching in Fall 2024? Think the 991.2 design will be viewed as a classic in years to come.
Now that I've seen Matt drive the 991.2 GT3 and just recently the 992 GT3 , I've come to the conclusion that the Porsche 911 GT3 is possibly the greatest sports car ever made
Another great review Matt. Seems that the RS is the closest you can get to a race car for the street
So, that might be the fastest flybys I've seen Matt do this far🤙
6:56. That grip tho
I thought the speed limit 55mph sign was pretty funny. I watched a show "THe Nature of Things" where they took a GT# hybrid and put a vinyl skin over the body with dimples like a golf ball to decrease the drag co-efficient and they compared the with and without, the car was 23.5% more efficient with the skin on it! I'd like to see this car with the extra 23.5% efficiency seeing as it's pretty damned efficient as it is. Beautiful well made cars if you can afford the upkeep. And that sound, I'll miss it when the electric cars take over. Engine sound will come through your stereo speakers. But I'm converting mine to run on water and baking soda for that zero carbon guilt free driving.
My favourite motor/ Matt Farah video, this car is so 'connected' in every sense and of course underpinned by a fabulous racing pedigree as underlined once again by Nick Tandy winning the 2020 Spa 24Hrs in the 911 GT3 Cup just last weekend, finishing in dreadful conditions to beat Ferraris/ Lambos/ R8s you name it.....
also.. 'just rippin' off those shifts' is a quote worthy of a T shirt I'd say..
forgot about this channel but i blame google algorithms. glad you are doing these, gonna keep watchin
Damn. That’s a great review. I know it takes a lot to impress a guy that has driven so many good cars. Great job Porsche and wonderful review Matt!
Great review! Couldn't believe all those commuter cars in the beginning going the other way.
The 992 will be totally out of this world. The first spy videos of the 992 Turbo are already insane.
The tunnel bit made me smile so much my cheeks hurt. I need this car!
Porsche is what dreams are made of
@4:34. -MATT SAID A SWEAR WORD! HE HE HE! 😁
The great thing about this car is you can take it to the track and abuse it lap after lap. Throw pads and tyres and regular servicing at it and you are sorted. Name another car with this level of performance that will do the same without missing a beat??
That car is badass!!! The sound is amazing!!!!
"Hauling balls" I'm stealing that, sorry.
This is the best car in the universe...period
He was going crazy fast.
I have a newer GT-R, but I WILL own a GT3 one day, just a base model though.
The first flyby was MENTAL FAST. Faster than the blue "RUF" and the Ford GT.
What a fantastic video. Thanks Matt.
great video. great sound. commentary is spot on man.
wow what a car
RS on the track, Touring everywhere else
Fantastic car this thing is freaking awesome.
14:06 That pretty much sums up Porsche!
I thought the gt3rs came with the roll bar in the back behind the driver's and passenger seat
Porsche. There really is no substitute.
Thanks, Matt!
Great 1T Matt!
Just amazing, absolutely insane, wow.🔥
Great video. Love the GT3 and the RS. Personally I'd go for a 997.2 RS though at this time. Matt, videos are out of synch by like 1.5 seconds ;)
Whats up with all the traffic so early in the morning?
Epic.
Sooooo want this car pleeeease
so double honk means thank you??
This road looks like a blast to drive on.where is this may i ask?
Matt, I just wanna drive with you in one of these one takes so bad
Simone needs to fire his interior decorator
What’s the fuel like for this car? Does it go down quick? Do you have to fill it up daily?
This is the closest we can get to an analog "racy" car for the streets. The viper ACR IS faster but not as comfortable.
OOHHHHHHHHHHH those roads.
My husband had a GT3RS. That car can really drive and you handle it well. BUT I still think it was highly irresponsible of you to drive at that speed on a road with quite a bit of oncoming traffic, many turns, limited visibility in spots and a rising sun, all while keeping one hand off the wheel half the time. It is just selfish to put other drivers at risk as you did.
Nice video 👍
Where's the rear roll cage in this gt3 rs?
410mm in the front Matt ;)
AM traffic Ca. style.. NYC here ;)
PDK is nice but a manual is the car I’m ordering. I don’t care about lap times. I just want a clutch and drive.
Good
first sentence isn't even true considering the GT2RS exists but anyways
Wrong. Matt is right. Fastest? No. But most focused? Absolutely.
@@joetacchino4470 i dont know man....the GT2 RS spanks EVERYTHING on the Nurburgring & takes the GT3 to another level, & this is coming from a serios GT3 fan lol
@@joetacchino4470 [When compared to a GT3 RS, ] "The GT2 RS has larger turbochargers, a modified crankcase, different pistons, a new multi-tube air filter, enlarged airducts, larger intercoolers, and a unique water injection system. The water system actually uses distilled water that is stored in a water tank in the “frunk” of the vehicle. Even in extreme conditions, this will allow for consistent performance."
5:05 Porsche VTEC

We're just here for all the great music this engine is gracing us with.
QuickTrick Alignment Products This engine sounds so industrial to me. Certainly very mechanical-sounding and extremely precise. It doesn’t have the music that most V12s and V10s have, and some V8s. It’s a very unique sound and I do like it a lot. Sounds very different than other performance NA motors. For example both Ferrari’s and Aston’s V12s have a soft, rounded core to the sound underneath the sharp, biting mechanicalness.
Absolutely love this car. Soundtrack is glorious and the looks are ageless. What an incredible machine one of my favorites.
I had owned 2 570s.... friend of mine told me that they are selling a gt3rs next to his home and convince me to go get a test drive , I was bored and had nothing to do so I went to the Porsche dealership with zero intentions on buying the car but after just a 10 min drive I traded in my mclaren!
The gt3rs is my favorite car of all time there is something about the cars character that’s gets my emotions going and it’s is unmatched!
@@nuniday3675 You're a lucky man my friend congrats.
If you could drive cocaine, this is exactly what it would be.
Now I know what they mean by 'pure as the driven snow'
Lmao
That might be the most apt comment I've ever seen. Bravo sir!
Wouldn't that be a countach? Or a Testerosa? lol
@@Greg-TC those are cars FILLED with cocaine
Poor guy coming the other way in the tunnel probably thought the world was ending. 👍
Probably going to work and thinking I'll leave work early and beat the traffic home.
Hahaha, passing by outside of the tunnel will make your ears itch really bad lol, in a tunnel you might blow someone's ear drums hahaha
I love how Matt still drives like an animal even when there's traffic on the road, no fucks given, but still watches out for cyclists and hazards. He hasn't lost the SuperSpeeders spirit.
Wow! That flat six engine at 9k revs gave me a real tingly feeling just watching it at home on my TV.
Try listening with cans! 🎚🎧
@@rickc2102 2nded!
The sounds 😲😲😲
If you turn on the captions when he revs it, it says “Music”. Mega
Lots of takes on this car out there but you and Harris are my faves. Well driven Matt.
@MrGhost370 Chris Harris drifts because he likes to, but he can drive fast as hell when he wants to. He races in his spare time and has set multiple track records in his videos. Wether you find him entertaining is personal opinion, but he's undeniably one of the most skilled auto journalists ever.
MrGhost370 uhhhhhh what now?
Trygve Germo Harris drifts because he likes it, yeah, but also because slomo shots of that statistically do well in videos according to him.
Can't forget Henry Catchpole from Carfection.
White GT3RS. That’s the dream right there!
John Morrison , agreed
Rather have purple
I'd take weissach, but white itself looks good
Miami blue bro
Nardo grey with yellow calipers is the move.
I loved the description of PDK, I feel like I got to know the gear box without having ever driven the car. I appreciate this kind of work, so I just wanted to say thank you Matt.
That engine. I don't know of another car that sounds so much like it's racecar counterpart.
Anthony McClinton look up JCR porsche, only one modification can literally make it sound like an RSR.
Look up effspot with his Mercedes 12k exhaust v12 sounds like an f1
@@franklatin2411 an older F1. They don't sound like that anymore.
@@franklatin2411 effspot is crazy for that. It sounds amazing, but not worth it for that merc imo
?Anonymous ? If you have the money to blow why not
That's is cheapest race car u can buy. Plus holds value.
When perfection gets more perfected 👌 I’d take this over a Ferrari all day everyday.
Which ever one you choose, your gonna get a whole lot of pussy either way.
Newer ones? Probably. I'd rather have a black 458, or any older 430 scud 360 modena or 275/365 myself. But despite the cardinal sin of electric steering, I'm with ya I think porsche makes the best modern sports/super gt car. And also this 911 : p
@@mikea5205 A myth.
Defiantly not breaking the speed limit for sure
65mph never looked so fast 😂
"Defiantly"
@@johnmorrison8351 we only condone legal speeds!
There is no speed limit on the canyons....
If you really wanna know he's almost always driving between 80 and 160mph....
Love love love Porsche boxer 6 motors. Can never get enough of that sound.
Matt is one of the only guys I've seen on You Tube that knows how to put a car through the paces. Way to drive like a boss my brotha!!
That gearbox shifts faster than I snap my fingers.
You can't snap your fingers at 50ms
@@EbrahimSaadawii yes thats why he said it shifts FASTER
I can snap mine at 35ms.
everyone who reads this comments snaps their fingers
That engine sound is pure chills down the spine.
I can tell who will be reviewing which car just by what’s being reviewed. Zach gets all the scraps.
I'm 100% certain that he's going at least 120-130mph on these roads
Amazing power they are able to squeeze out of 4 naturally aspirated liters .
@Mr.BigBoss7 seems well worth it
European NA tuning for you.
@Open Ranks whats your point? What other production non turbo 6 cylinder is making that kind of power?
@Open Ranks light rotating mass to allow high revs & good breathing at high revs = high power / Litre.
Open Ranks he said 4 NA liters lmao, not 4 cylinders. I think you misread him. We’re all appreciative of NA 4.0L cranking out that amount power.
7:25 Cayman gt4 lol
Tyler also white! 🤣
@porsche put the 4.0 in the Cayman you cowards
charlie Actually the new GT4 and 718 spyder have a 4.0 now. But it’s not the same one that’s in the GT3 unfortunately.
charlie That's what the aftermarket is for. Drop in a 4.0 stroker, X51 power kit (heads, cams), a shorter final drive, and a multi link suspension and watch a GT4 be just as fast as a RS in a straight line and faster in the corners all the while still costing less than a new RS. But...you still don't get that sweet 9000rpm engine.
Now we just need a "Just the noise" video. Then I can die in peace
Wednesday
@@TheSmokingTire YES!!!!
The 991.2 GT3 RS is one of the all time great Porsche sports cars and personally I prefer it to the 992 GT3 RS.
Matt had to wipe the interior down afterwards to remove some excitement fluids.
Holy fuck Matt, the rate of speed that you go down those canyons is amazing. Total chill and confidence, I love it.
It’s been sooo long since I’ve watched.. I honestly just like watching dope cars with Matt driving😅
you know what I love about that car? absolutely everything
No substitute for Porsche cars. They are just so nice. Lots of other tremendous cars, but Porsche's are special and this includes all their cars so everyone can enjoy them. A 2004 911 is awesome in its way. Again, so many other great cars, and I'm no knocking other manufacturers, but Porsche seems to make magic with theirs.
Wow...thank you Matt for the trip, for the 15 minutes you take me out with you. It was a real pleasure.
