    This fire pit is one of a few covered pits that is on the list ruclips.net/user/postUgkxAU9pOCSV9Y5JprooHvfxTpOrt4hx8uRM of approved products for Disney Fort Wilderness. The product served its purpose well and provided excellent fires throughout the evening. We were able to open the door and do s'mores, but I had to be careful because the handle was a bit hot on occasions. Additionally, I wish they had replaced some of the standard nuts with lock nuts in some places. We lost the door handle after just a couple of days of usage. Not a deal breaker, just a recommendation. I still give it 5 stars.

    I would like to reiterate what has been said in the previous comments. Absolutely no reason to buy that fireplace glass cleaner product! Use a damp cloth dabbed in the fine ash of your firebox and clean your glass with it. It actually works better and is free. Just my 2¢.

      Yes ash is actually an abrasive. It was used on razor strips back in the day, to help bring sharpness back to a razor

      Would it possibly work for house hold windows/mirrors too?

      @@sarahbradley9103 I don't want to say yes or no. The ash has very fine abrasive particles. Technically it would clean the glass but I believe that it might scratch the glass over time and begin to become noticeable.

      Back in the day the cleaner trick used was cigarette ashes, it was very aggressive. would not recommend on shinny surfaces - Will dull them!

    Here's a tip You don't need a bought cleaner. Take well wetted paper towel, then gently dab the paper towel into the fine ashes you are cleaning out of the fireplace and cover the surface of the wet paper towel with the ashes, now start wiping the glass up and down ash side on the glass and like magic the very ash you were about to toss is your natural fireplace glass cleaner. The ash removes unspent carosete and hard to remove resin easily from the glass without a scratch. Best wishes to All .

      I've done this for years and it works better than ANY store bought glass cleaner. Thanks for your post!

    Best glass cleaner is wet ashes from the stove. No need to use chemicals as this is the best cleaner.

    I found that a simple paper towel (dry) works just fine, for cleaning the glass on the door..........and also.........a dirty glass is an indicator of a lousy burn. If you are in need of glass cleaning of any significance or regularity, I'd revisit HOW you are burning your fires!

    To clean the glass, my great granny had used vinegar to wipe off the surface from her wood stove.........none of the chemical stuff.

    • @rmcdaniel423
      @rmcdaniel423 2 года назад

      Vinegar is a "chemical". It's a weak acid. Even just simple water is a "chemical" (a solution of hydrogen and oxygen molecules). Your entire body is a wet pile of various tissues bathed in various chemicals. Just to be clear.

    You can clean the glass easily with a damp paper towel dipped in the ashes. Baby wipes work, too.

    Burn, wood stoves for 40 years ,burn 24/7 in cold WVa . Buy a stove with a removable baffle. I burn low and slow or it will run out . Looks funny with the doors open 20 degrees out ! You don’t want a build up in your chimney,a chimney fire can burn your house down l clean my chimney the first of each month ,same time clean the glass ( cheap oven cleaner) . I have a ash scoop with a lid ,can clean out hot or cold . Stay safe, stay warm. Love my wood stove .

      Do you use a secondary burner model? I heard they are like consuming half wood compared to classic cast iron ones

      Was likely a newly built fire, door left open while it got started, so the door was still cool to touch.

    Good information for the homeonwer but I'd really like to see Regency suggest that a professional CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep do the inspection and sweeping. Also a mention that ALL wood creates creosote might be better - the way this is worded it sounds like they can avoid creosote altogether.

    Suzie Timeus You will need to clean the stove pipe off as good as you can, then find some high-temperature (2100F) paint that matches your stove pipes color. repaint the area starting off with a very light "dusting" and slowly build up the paint in that area until the prints are covered. The oil in the fingerprints are burned onto the pipe after lighting which is why they wont come off. Your installer should have cleaned the pipe and repainted if necessary. Also, you can call your installer and see if they are willing to rectify the issue.

    Him: Never let ash build up to the loading door.
    Me: is...is that bad?

    • @462ANIMAL
      @462ANIMAL 3 года назад

      It’s not bad, just less room for firewood and if full you don’t have the lip of the stove to keep burn wood from falling out when you want to add more before bed.
