  • As an expat living in Cambodia, one of the most common questions that I get are about the visas. In this video, I'll walk you through each type of visa and help you figure out which one is best for you. This guide goes over the tourist visa, business visa (ordinary visa), retirement visa, and the 1-year working visa (and work permit). Information on the cost and requirements for each visa in 2024 is included.

    In recent months there is some indication that Cambodia has changed some of the rules regarding visas, so I can't guarantee that everything in this video is 100% up to date. Later this year, I will speak with my visa agent and make a 2025 edition on visa rules, etc.
    I say this in a lot of videos, but the best resource for getting up-to-date information on Cambodia is the "Cambodia Expats" and "Cambodia Visas" facebook groups.

    I just bought a 6 month visa. Border runs are ok if you like to travel, but I now have multiple enter options. I’ve bought visa on arrival and also online from the UK, and never had any issues. I have heard however, that there are scam websites sites out there, so make sure you buy your online visa from the official Khmer website.

    I got 2 x online E-type visas last week from the website.
    There are places to upload supporting documents but I didn't bother.
    They issued it anyway for both me (British) and my Thai wife.
    We will extend to either 6 or 12 months.
    The Ordinary visa is the E-Type visa - as printed on the visa.
    Took 3 days with zero supporting documents uploaded.
    Reason for visit : Want to rent apartment, maybe buy one later.....

    If U bring USD with U for the KH visa take care that the USD bills are perfect, no rips or other damages, no written notes on it, only nicely folded and recent ones (not older versions).
    Same when U want to pay with USD in KH - and check for that when U should get change in USD.
    Otherwise expect that a damaged, old or whatever suspicious bill won't be accepted - while a local KH Riel (4k Riel typically equals 1 USD) bill can look ugly as hell and still being accepted everywhere.

      Unfortunately he mis-spoke. It hasn’t been called the “Business Visa” for quite sometime. It’s now the “Ordinary Visa” which in reality is the “E-Class Visa” not to be confused with an online “eVisa” and this is the ONLY type of visa you can turn into the 1-year “ER Retirement Visa” so arrive in Cambodia without a visa and after you get off the plane have $35 in US currency to pay for your “Ordinary Visa.” After a week, go to any Travel Agency and tell them you want to extend your “E Visa” into a 12-month “ER Visa.” They will ask you your age. As long as you’re 55 or older, you’re okay and fully qualified to get it. The cost is usually $290 and there is NO supporting documentation needed. No income qualifying. No bank deposit back home qualifying. No health certificate or police background check needed. Once you pay, they will contact you to let you know when to come back to pick up your passport with your new 12-month “ER Retirement Visa” sticker in your passport.

    Hi, Allen. Could you please elaborate on the retirement visa process at the airport?? If a retired age couple arrives, what is the process and payment for the annual $300 retirement visa, how long is it valid for, and what are the needs for a relationship with a reliable visa (retirement) agent BEFORE arriving in Phnom Penh? Who are the contacts a retired couple would need to find a safe and comfortable place to live (i.e. apartment or condo) with the usual western amenities?

    • @Allen_in_Asia
      @Allen_in_Asia  5 месяцев назад +2

      The most convenient way of going about things is the following: Just get an E-visa (ordinary visa) at the airport and then talk to any visa agent in Phnom Penh about upgrading to the retirement visa. They will handle all of the paperwork for you.

    • @dovygoodguy1296
      @dovygoodguy1296 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@Allen_in_Asia The upgrading involves turning over one's passport to the agent after arriving in Phnom Penh (or elsewhere like Battanbang or Siem Reap). I'd feel reluctant to do that. Isn't it risky?

    • @Allen_in_Asia
      @Allen_in_Asia  5 месяцев назад +2

      @@dovygoodguy1296 It might feel risky, but it's a standard practice. They take your passport, mail it into the government, and it comes back with your new visa. I've done this more than a few times at this point, and I've never had any issues. The worst case scenario would be that your passport gets lost in the mail, but I've never heard of that happening to anyone else.

    1. Get the Business Visa on Arrival (also called an E-visa)
    2. Take that visa and passport to a Visa company in country and have them get the extended visa for a year.
    Is this correct?

      You can enter or leave as many times as you want as long as you get a visa.

    Does the Cambodian Tax department demand Tax, even if you are working for a company in another country?
    Thank you for any information.

    I don’t mean to contradict but I thought you could only get the E visa ( to turn into retirement visa) online - not at point of entry.

      I got it at point of entry. So do many others.

      There is not a website I have found that says you can get an ER visa ( which is the visa you need to get a longer term retirement visa). Can you please provide a link to something official that validates what you say?

      @@arnemcradu6499 There are plenty of websites that you will tell you that an E visa can be upgraded to an ER visa, and that an E visa can be obtained on arrival.
      visaguide.world/retirement-visa/cambodia/ "First, you need to apply for and obtain a Cambodian visa from a Cambodian embassy. Make sure that you apply for a regular type E-class visa first and then choose the ER Retirement Visa option."
      www.cambodia-visa.com/guide/cambodia-visa-on-arrival.html "Unlike other countries, Cambodia offers the "real" visa on arrival service which means you do not need to apply for anything in advance, all you need to do is to fill in an immigration form on your flight to Siem Reap or Phnom Penh or bus ride to Cambodia border gates, then hand in the documents including 2*2'' size photos, 30 US dollars for visa fee, entry exit form to get the visa stamped on your passport."
      Again, myself and dozens of other expats have does this. It's not some shady trick or anything like that. It is quite well-known that you can obtain an E-visa on arrival, and you can ask in any of the "Cambodia Expat" groups on facebook if you don't believe me.

      First of all thanks for replying. That’s how to grow a channel. But back to the ER visa - it states right in your link that to get the ER option you need to get it from a Cambodian embassy and then once you get into Cambodia you go to nat police to get 1 year ( renewable every year). If you can get the ER option of the E visa at entry why don’t they say this. They don’t!?🤔😳🤷‍♂️ now I’ve been to Cambodia many times and have used the visa on arrival ( T visa) but am looking at retiring in Cambodia . This is where I find it confusing. Anyway, good luck and

      @@arnemcradu6499 The websites aren't 100% clear on the process for everything, which is why I make these videos. You can get an E visa on arrival, which lasts 30 days. Any visa agent will go through the process of mailing your paperwork to the embassy to get your ER visa. If you want to do it all yourself instead through all of the official channels, feel free, but most people value the convenience of having someone else navigate the bureaucracy for you.

    Good info. Just confused about one thing. Are you saying to fly to Cambodia with no VISA at all then apply once you are at the airport? Can you quickly discuss that process?

      Yes, Cambodia is one of the many countries that offers "visa on arrival," which means that you do not need a visa before you get on the plane.

      Starting July 1, no more Ordinary Visa on arrival. Must apply online before arrival. No big deal though.

    Hi, 🦩🦩🐦🐦🐦🌹🌹May I share the most important news you will ever hear? God the Father sent His holy Son Jesus Christ(Y'shua Ha' Mashiach) from heaven to earth, to be born of a virgin. He grew up and died on the cross for our sins. He was put into a tomb for 3 days, and then Abba Father raised Jesus to life and He appeared to people and went back to Heaven. We must all sincerely receive Jesus to be a true child of God. It says in John 1:12 "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." Will you genuinely believe on Christ Jesus and truly receive Him today, before it is too late?
