  • China not only controls its citizens at home - but also those abroad.
    There's increasing evidence anyone who displeases Chinese authorities will be targeted.
    Their crimes can include sharing emails questioning Chinese leaders, or supporting groups perceived as threats to the nation, such a Falun Gong, Tibetans or Uyghurs.
    The consequent harassment and intimidation is serious - confrontations by Chinese agents, coercion, blackmail, detention or arrest and torture of family members back home.
    Critics say not even in the United States and Canada, lands of the free, is freedom of speech possible for Chinese dissidents. China is always watching - everywhere.
    Over several months, 101 East interviewed more than 20 people who revealed their stories of being targeted.
    In the case of Sheng Xue, a democracy activist, she says she became a victim of a malicious smear campaign - with tens of thousands of photos and unfounded accusations spread online.
    "China has no bottom line and will go to the extreme to silence dissent," says Chen Yoglin, a former Chinese diplomat. Chen, who helped shape China's overseas censorship programme, defected to Australia in 2008.
    He reveals China's global strategy of silencing dissent and says that the government will stop at nothing to protect its reputation.

      @Jaded Cynic maybe you live under a rock but there is always a world leader imposing their views on the world, it was once the Roman empire, not long ago, Britain and French fighting for world dominance during colonization, after USA and today China challenging America.. And I am skipping many others.
      You may not want a world leader but it's a fact, it's a history, go back to school dear..

    The West lost it's soul when it witnessed the brutality of the Chinese regime in Tienanmen yet forged ahead with unlimited trade and commerce. We could've upheld our principles, boycotted the Communists and saved our civilization, but that would've required backbone and the willingness to endure short-term sacrifice and slightly higher prices. How quickly our values are forgotten when quick bucks can be made! Now we face a Chinese dominated world where the West becomes weaker every year as the European way of life dwindles into the dustbin of history.

      You got it all wrong. The US befriended China because it wanted an ally against Russia.
      Japan offered a line of credit of $10 billion in 1980, despite the fact that they were China most hated enemy.
      China opened up to the world....and the US tripped over themselves to set up shop in China.
      The trillions of dollars they made helped finance the destruction of the middle eastern countries.
      The Chinese used their savings to build infrastructure and pull 800 million people out of abject poverty, and millions more around the world.

    • @michelng5630
      @michelng5630 5 лет назад +5

      @Quantum Eraser
      The US was too busy fighting wars to notice China’s progress. For no obvious reason, China has become the target of American hegemony. Except this time, they can no longer bully an economically powerful country.
      Trump found an excuse to declare a trade war, one which he has no chance to win.
      You declared that you are willing to pay a little more in order stop China’s rise. China has already started outsourcing all these labour intensive jobs to ASEAN and African countries. These jobs will never return to the US, for the same reason China is outsourcing them......too high labour cost.
      China’s retaliation ....stopping the import of US agricultural products forces Chinese importers to buy elsewhere. They’ll probably stop buying from a country that tries to bully them.

These are probably low key prisoners either way...The famous political prisons dont get thier organs ripped, rather they just dont take care of thier health when they get ill, and oddly enough they get cancer for some reason. People who probably no one would look for if they go missing... Now thats where they get most of the organs..

      Bo Xilai and Zhou Yongkang were among the high ranking officials who were behind the organ transplant syndicate. They have already been brought down by Xi Jinping's men. It's a risky move for Xi to tackle these men as they had direct control on police forces and even portion of the army. In China, No one can talk about politics or related topics let alone 1989 Tian an men square massacre and if you do ask the secret police will silence you or you will be sent to jail. What Chinese do is work and spend their earning in the country, invest or travel abroad if they can afford that. Having said that, so many Chinese do live in Europe and in other countries but most of them are government employee their job is to steel secrets, send news under the watchful eyes of Chinese embassies all over the world. I have nothing against normal Chinese people in general. But it's true that I have seen suspicious Chinese individuals, drivers, or vehicles which followed or tracked me in the Philippines. Yes I saw one of them got out of his white van, stared at me, hurriedly rushed back to the driving seat, and stepped the accelerator really fast. When Chinese radio stations were rampant in our airwaves in the last few years, I have seen a well-built or muscular Chinese wearing a black leather jacket. I thought he was a military man from China. He was surveilling each of our city blocks, smiling, and talking Chinese to his phone from time to time. My parents loves to meet with rich Chinese Filipino elites. They told me of a famous saying "in the end China will win". A few months ago Chinese elites told my mother to dissuade me from communicating and participating with President Trump and Americans. They claim Americans are scammers.

    The one and only way to punish China is to globally avoid buying Chinese consumer products. Consciously, every individual has to do this, which is much more effective than governments banning Chinese products.

      Right and dump the globalization that supports China. U.S. is already retooling slowly to rebuild domestic manufacturing. China imports over 80% of food and fuel. Apply the same sanctions to them as to the Russians. China would feel them much more than the Russians. As part of the Americas, the U.S. would be immune to international supply shocks. Meanwhile, especially keep on the good side of Mexico and Venezuela.

    7. Hence the use of spies, of whom there are five classes: (1) Local spies; (2) inward spies; (3) converted spies; (4) doomed spies; (5) surviving spies.
    8. When these five kinds of spy are all at work, none can discover the secret system. This is called "divine manipulation of the threads." It is the sovereign's most precious faculty.

      I believe the youtuber Kraut explained this best. China is an ancient civilization and its culture is heavily rooted in respecting authority as long as it brings progress aka "mandate of heaven". Every citizen knows his place in society . I may be completely off the mark here but I think that the Chinese people see the progress they are making aka lifting millions out of poverty, huge global influence, strong leadership etc and think that giving up certain freedoms is a fair exchange. Again, I may be completely wrong but in ex Yugoslavia the standard of living and security of ones livelihood, international reputation and overall sense of strength and progress was a fair trade for giving up the right of lets say, criticizing the party etc. To simplify, as long as the citizens feel and see that their overall situation is improving day by day than why would they complain? Don't get me wrong, I'm not on anybody's side here but if your government was to lets say ensure you have free education, medical, a home, a stable and well paying job and a lot of benefits with no personal debt and you had a comfy life (nothing extravagant just carefree) would you be motivated to go out and protest and risk all of it? Sorry for the long reply and apologies in advance if I sounded preachy or something.

    People should 1) Understand that CHINA represents ONE FOURTH of all human beings on the planet e earth, and her accomplishments during the past thirty years have been admirable --- even heroic. 2) You need to understand that CHINA observed the breakdown of the U.S.S.R. and she thought to herself (after being humiliated by the West herself for a couple of centuries) "THAT will never happen to me!"
    And so she has extended her claws (like a cat trying to hold on to her territory)in distant provinces of her nation. Let's face the facts: China is a H U G E C O U N T R Y that has to keep a very large number of people happy (employ them, offer many service, promoting "right behavior" and fighting the evils of corruption that crop up in ANY country from time to time). Thank heavens, they have CONFUCIANISM and Buddhism to guide them in the right way. I am a retired school teacher and I admire the non-verbal skills exhibited by the Chinese students I've encountered. Also: "HATS OFF" to the astronauts who recently landed on the back side of the moon on behalf of all us human.That's ANOTHER BIG STEP for mankind. So please, let us be kind and not pay any attention to those who threaten others or preach racial hatred. Remember HITLER? (He too promised to make his country "Great Again" ... and we all know how that ended in rubble. Read Psalm 90, the words of MOSES, who ended his prayer with "Establish the works of our hands...let those be the things that last....". (Somebody in D.C. has it all
    "upside down", Isaiah 5:18-21 & 45:8 + Amos 5:18-20 & 8:9 "The sun will go down at noon...on a clear and cloudless day". (That's because a gamma ray burst from withing our Milky Way struck our solar system, ionizing the components of air in the stratosphere and producing a brown SMOG of nitrogen dioxide (it's 1.6 times heavier than regular air, and will descend to deplete the ozone layer (as a chemical catalyst). After that, deadly short wave length UV rays will SCORCH the noses of white people after just ten minutes outdoors without any zinc oxide sunscreen. The UV rays penetrate 40 ft. down into the oceanic water column and start to kill off tiny green plankton living there (the base of the entire oceanic food chain). BILLIONS will die as food crops fail (their leaves will WITHER, and trees will also die --- the fig tree, the olive tree, Jeremiah 8:11-13*, Habakkuk 3:17*, Isaiah 51:6, Jeremiah 4:28-30*)---a horrible worldwide famine will arise ("like there NEVER WAS BEFORE", Jesus said, Mt. --24:21-- --- get it?).
    Hey! If it seems slow, wait for it.(You'll know when it's arrived, the GRB strike, as all orbiting earth satellites will be "fried" and all cell phones depend on those orbiting satellites for their signals--get it? PANDEMONIUM will arise (Isaiah 17:10-13) and "In the end, you will UNDERSTAND IT ALL CLEARLY", Jeremiah 23:17-20* + 30:23* explains those who understand. SHALOM! (To those nearby and also to those FAR AWAY, Isaiah 57:19-21*).
    (I'm in favor of CONFUCIAN IDEAS --- hope you are too).

    Chinese spies have infiltrated all major institutions in the U.S. If you suspect you are being spied upon by Chinese agents, double lock your doors, paint your windows black and seal them shut. Don't answer your phone unless you know who it is, especially in the middle of the night. Keep on the look out for strange cars or vans parked on your street. Make sure you are not being followed. Keep alert for prying eyes.

    China is just like the US apparently.
    I know one person who went to China to teach English. She fled back to the USA and her harassment continued. The US and Canada don't seem to choose to protect our citizens. I'm a dual US/Canadian citizen. People who are dual Chinese/Canadian citizens can run for political office in Canada, but China doesn't recognize dual citizenship. Orwell saw it in colonial Burma, Southeast Asia (Thailand, / China), Africa, Spain and the West. With tuberculosis, he rushed to pen ‘1984’. Orwell knee the name of the year in the title of the book was arbitrary and that some year in the the future of the aggressive repression of a totalitarian state ‘would occur’. (1984 is simply a reverse juxtaposition of the year he wrote the book: 1948.) Now, it has become aggressive, as triggered with the weak president imposing tariffs, speaking openly about China’s plans to rule the world and his naive self-grandinizing ego- based leadership style. America through Trump was deemed weak because of sole focus of America’s interest so let on profit through trade. Voices around Trump tried to warn Trump this would occur. He ignored it, then Wuhan occurred, yet, China continued through its involvement on American campuses with cultural exhibitions. Athens university must adhere to Chinese law, when the chinese are spread propaganda. Through signing this contract China donates millions of dollars, for example The Chinese presence at the University of Massachusetts.
