Looks like I'm seeing this about 11 months too late... Beautiful build man. Perfect set up. Would work great for me and my puppers. I am definitely sharing this build with some of my friends.
Yeah! Quite a bit of thought went into it for sure, great house, just wish I would've built it as a toy hauler! Oh well, that just means I get to take all my learnings to the next build I'm doing this year!
Absolutely love Miltona frames! Still having a hard time finalizing how I want to build mine before I order it. I'm just up the road from the shop, so I'm not in a hurry to order a frame yet.
Yes, they make great frames! I'd love to have another one on my next house that I will start building in the spring, but I'm leaning towards a shell and just doing the inside myself (it will be a toy hauler). What size are you thinking about?
@@AlexTimm 6x8, most of the time I end up fishing alone because people get busy. It's big enough a friend can come with, or I can handle it on my own without using up a bunch of LP to heat it.
@@BillTheTractorMan Awesome! It's exciting and fun to build your own shack and make it your own. Sounds like the perfect size for what you are using it for!
@@BillTheTractorMan Yeah, I am in a similar situation. To get what exactly a guy wants you either have to pay ridiculous prices to get it custom done or do it yourself. There are some quality units out there but they are very expensive and if they don't fit exactly what you are looking for its hard to justify $30 - $60k
Thanks! Yes, I put a ton of time and effort into it, just got it done last year and then got an ATV so now have to build / customize one to be able to be a toy hauler now. I'm planning on starting my next build / finish in the Spring and will be posting updates as I go for others that are interested or looking for tips on how to build their own.

I'm gonna be 💯 here ,if we don't get some ice here in Michigan in the next week , shyts gettin real . I'm thinking about pulling my boat back out to go after some perch grrrrr
A person could, but they wouldn't get the door unlocked as the deadbolt is keyed on both sides, so unless you had the key sitting in the lock on the inside, they aren't opening it. Could they just go through one of the windows? They could I suppose, but the door wouldn't be helpful
How does it tow? I really like the setup, if it had a few more feet I'd be coming to take a look. Unfortunately a family of 4 requires a bit larger setup.
Thanks, it tows nicely. I had the frame made with the axle back a bit further to compensate for the wind resistance during travel and tilt it a hair extra into the tongue for some extra tongue weight. With that it pulls and handles really well
I used this Pink Foam Board insulation (t.ly/Nx6jm ), cut it a little smaller than the dimensions of the roof cavities between the boards and used spray foam around the edges to make it extra rigid. They make it in different thicknesses depending on how much space you have
Unfortunately I do not, a lot of it I designed as I went. But if you have questions let me know I have pictures of most of the parts of the process or can try and recall
Hey Kelly, I have a spot for whatever batteries a person would want underneath the jack knife sofa. Check out this part of the video where I show the space and walk through it and let me know of any other questions 👍 ruclips.net/video/UrOuMBLhVSk/видео.html
The prices of building materials are like a roller coaster right now. But once things have settled back down a bit I bet you could build something like this without electrical and the TVs for around $4k - $5k. Maybe even less if you focused on a budget build and materials. The drop frame itself runs about $1,300
I want to know what your price pound is for perch after all the expenses, im at about $35 per pound with my pop up and gear I’m gggssing about $125 -150
lol who calculates their ice/fishing investment this way? I own multiple boats, I'm an avid ice angler but I don't keep the fish that I catch, and I can catch em good. How much does it cost me to catch bluegill by the lb?
How much could I pay you to be my buddy for a few months and help me build something just as close to this! Nice work! I’m in minnnesota also let’s hang out and build one ! Hahahahaha
Yeah, sold it not even 12 hours after posting it. Maybe I didn't ask enough? 😆 Sold it to some great people though so I'm very happy about it. Lol, I definitely do it as a hobby / take pride in building out exactly what I want for myself in a shack. I'll be hopefully starting another build in the next year or two
Erich, thanks for commenting and your interest. Yes it did sell already. I listed it and it sold in less than 24 hours. I am keeping the video up as a reference for many others in the community (and myself 😀) for ideas and inspiration for the next build.
I asked my wife this summer if I could buy a trailer, She said if I buy I better want to live in it. So I passed. Now I'm gonna a ask her if I could buy this. Lol
Sadly, icehouse burglaries are common as well as vandalism. Don't be fooled that the door is impossible to break into. If the vandals don't care about the damage to your house they will break the windows next to the door and look inside for stuff to steal. A relative of mine has a Icecastle in MN which was cleaned out a couple years ago. They take all valuables out now and leave the windows unshaded and a note on the door that no valuables are kept inside. It has got so bad that some people leave their houses open so their doors and locks don't get vandalized.
@@AlexTimm I love the layout of the house but that many windows and big windows makes the security over kill. My opinion.. I do like the house alot... i would be proud to say I custom made it...
@@jeremiahjohnson6971 I'm big on natural light when you can get it out on the ice, and figure if someone wanted to get in that bad that they will break a window and squeeze their way in then I probably wasn't going to avoid it. I suppose a person could put bars over the windows 😂
I’m in Minnesota also, that is illegal to pull down any highway. It didn’t matter if you put flags or whatever on it. You can only pull something from it’s build place to it’s Permanent spot if it’s wider then 8.5’. It’s a beautiful build but no point to be that wide since you can’t pull it around yo lakes lol.. also how the hell do you get up to that bunk up there? Lol.
You can get over width permits either for a single trip or for an entire year, I went through the process to get a few for it and it is really easy and all done online now. I had a little ladder for it and was going to build something more permanent but decided to sell it before I put more work into it

How did you get the house onto the frame? Curious as I just bought a Milton’s frame and need to put my skid house on it soon.

Miltona builds the drop axle frames?
They do! That is where I got this one from custom made to fit the dimensions and layout I wanted for the house
Do you have any sort of plans written out for this shack?
Unfortunately not, sketched as I went and planned one or two steps ahead, but don't think I have them anymore

12"
