As a teenager in the 70s, my dates and I found that having a nice ice house sure was a huge upgrade from the back seat of my Chevelle. Sometimes I even used it for fishing.
Sobi: you mentioned the beauty of a cold winter morning. I totally agree. In the mid to late 70s I was working in Black River Falls, WI. On one January morning, as I left my motel room, it was sunny, clear, crisp, calm and -40 degrees below zero without the wind chill. Any moisture in the air was frozen and glistened like mini rainbows in sky. So beautiful, so awesome, such a memory. What an amazing morning and my car even started. I was truly blessed to experience such a day of God’s breath taking creation. Stay safe! God Bless!
Man I’m Florida boy born n raised, grew up fishing way off shore to the bank of a lake or pond. Never been ice fishing always wanted to. Had a few guys I use to work on the road with from Minnesota we’re supposed to take me a couple years ago but Covid ruined that! If I had one of these shanty’s, I’d be in that thing butt naked fishing!
Oh man. I moved away from the midwest 35 years ago. You going into the local gas and bait shop really hit home. Very nostalgic, especially with Edgar Winter Group - Free Ride playing in the background. I'll be heading over to do some Ice fishing in Michigan and the next few weeks. I'll be sure to share your videos with my knuckleheads. We need to upgrade our fishing accomodations asap. We are using a tent and kerosene heaters. lol.
Congrats on the fish house Sam!, next step is to run LED strips around the inside of the whole thing, they are great for hanging out after dark and very low energy to run
Dream setup man, congratulations. As much as I love my insulated pop up I realize this year I also want the comfort and amenities of a nice ice houses.
Never having lived in such a cold climate, I would feel apprehensive driving on the ice like that. I realize it’s fine it’s just outside of my experience. 🙂
Sweet setup, I’m from upstate New York don’t get to put up fishing houses like this. I Have a portable one . Never spent more than one all-nighter fishing. Did not want it to all freeze in place, had a good heater running . Going out 2/6 with tip ups . Huge Croppie fish you caught
Sobi, you don't need to rip the valve full send on your propane, a quarter and a half turn is sufficient to start. The valve is designed to restrict airflow in event of a leak fyi
Nice video and great you have partners that love to fish. Suggestion get yourself an aluminum fishing ruler. We use one out on Long Island and makes measuring those fish a lot easier. Got relatives up in the Duluth and I love Minnesota. Thanks from New England Happy New Year and keep a “ Tight Line”
So you should invest in a jackery or two with the solar panels it would be a better way for power instead of a bunch of small power banks and you might not need that generator as much ether which would save you fuel and money I may be wrong but ya.
I… Don’t think the fishing is very exciting personally. However those were some big fish. That ice house looks like a dream. I appreciate how exciting it is for you. If you are in the boonies or just away from cities, seems like a great hobby. Or a bit of a hustle if you get into sharing it on RUclips.
I have a friend that lives in Dulth minn he told me about all the lakes and him and his wife fishing omg he invited me to come fishing anytime. I haven’t went as of yet but I intend too cause my cou lives up there in Minneapolis so I can visit both
Thats a really nice wheel house, but the big question is, does it ride on a Miltona Blacksmith Frame? absolutely the BEST frames our there for quality and lifespan. No other business comes close to the quality. I built my shack on a Miltona frame! Shout out to them, Miltona also repairs and upgrades other makes of frames as well as their own!
I’m from Oregon so I just fly and bass fish. So I’m not sure how this house would work. Does it like float on the lake during the summer?😂 or do you tow it off or something? I’d love to know how this works.
Living in Florida ………it seems insane to me that you can fish through a carpeted hole in the floor of the place you sleep. It’d be like catching fish while I’m sitting on the toilet in my bathroom.
After your done cleaning the slush out of your holes, take the bucket of slush and splatter it where your back tires will be when you would be ready to hook up and leave the area. This splattered slush will re freeze and create traction for your rear tires. The tires on your fish house will get sunk in with flooding and the snow you used to bank the house. The refrozen slush will save you a headache in the future when you want to hook up and leave. I also throw some slush outside the entry door, so there is no one slipping going in and out of the fish house. Congratulations on the new house!
@@cagneybillingsley2165 You don't need to get it, just find something you enjoy doing and do it. It would be a boring world if everybody enjoyed doing the same thing to the same level.
I know you’re close to home, but throw a heat gun in your tool bag when headed for the shack. The regulators can be tricky in the MN tundra! Congrats bud!
This is awesome. Congratulations you guys! You've got the co detector and the backup heat source which are important. Keep your propane tanks warm in the real cold temps like we've been having. If it's not too terrible out, I wrap mine with moving blankets. Otherwise you can buy plug in tank warmers through Northern Tool, Amazon etc. Lastly, always make sure wherever the forced air furnace exhaust is outside is facing away from the wind. If the exhaust is facing the wind, it will blow the exhaust back into the house and you'll have co building up in the house. Tight lines Sobi and Steph!
The main thing I’m concerned about with wheel houses is that I just can’t leave it on a lake for any length of time. I know one guy that has his south of the cities and it was broken into a couple times. Once, they just ruined the door completely. He told me his buddy left his on Circle or near there and went out to it but there wasn’t one there! He never did get it back. If I were to haul it to and from but not leave it at a lake, I’d be ok with that. All that said, I like the layout of your house. Have fun! So nice to have an insulated house!!!
Not bad, but there's still room for upgrades. Try looking at solar panels and an AC inverter system to get rid of the generator. Works real slick for my little ice cabin
A quality first aid kit, a small fire extinguisher and I’m assuming you have a small tool kit. But if not, those are the three things I never leave home without. Especially on excursions like this.
Love it! I told my son Sobi got a fish house and he immediately went to watch the video. He also proceeded to tell me we need to buy a few of the rattle reels!! Great stuff as always and Steph may need to help us all with Crappie tips! :)
Now that is one nice ice "shack"! A former co-worker of mine and his brothers pooled their money and bought a setup similar to yours. However, they aren't into ice fishing. They use it as a snowmobile camp. They figure out what area they want to ride their sleds for the winter and then find a body of water to set up their "camp" on. Cheaper than buying the land and stick & brick camp; plus their "camp" can be easily moved if they want to explore a different area.
You were 1000% right on the Mom n Pops. We are losing small business everywhere and it sucks. I try to buy stuff even if i dont need it. A twenty may not mean much to me but it helps their bottom line
Great video of you alls new fish house,I was wondering about the tv being over the stove though,it won't get too hot there and also get a couple fire extinguishers ,can't be too safe. Were really glad for all your videos and your beautiful girl friend who really knows how to catch fish.Best of luck to you both and we will be watching for the walk around outside.thanks for taking us along.
cut down a couple pool noodles to about 15'' in length. Screw them to your wall where you fish and hang your most used lures from them. Quick and easy access for you. Also always point your ice house in the direction you need to leave the lake on. That way if it gets blown in you don't have to worry about making a turn on the lake in deeper snow to get off.
That CO detector down low like yours is mounted is the key. CO is heavier than air so a combo fire/CO alarm up on the ceiling is stupid. Once CO gets up there everyone is already dead. Make sure to always keep one but set it up low!!
Congrats sobi! Not gonna lie, I'm jealous lol I'll be lucky if I ever get to purchase something like that. Until then I'll have to stick to my old one man shack and heater. Oh, and good job steph on landing that slab and a half! Nice fish! Tight lines you two!
For his self small ice hut he did make He was so glad for the ice on the lake He fished all night until the day break Then fell dead asleep never did wake No Carbon Monoxide Vent a mistake
A man was out fishing on the ice one afternoon, when suddenly, from above him, he hears, "no fish are down there!" He looks around, doesn't see anyone, so he returns to ice fishing. The voice from above says, "I said, no fish are down there!" The man looks up, says, "Is that you, God?" The voice says, "no, I'm the ice rink manager, I'm telling you, no fish are down there!"

you call this permanent.. but I'm always curi0ous. where do the ice shacks go when .the lake thaws.. especially the "permanent" ice shacks.. also.. how does that not melt the ice.. is it just that cold? what is the internal temperature of the house? I have a dozen questions.
also you should get the jackery 1500 for your ice house its a solar power battery bank its 1500 watts and comes with 4 200 watt panels it would be a good substitute to haveing a generator running all night and using up gas you could probably set the jakery up to just run at night on the battery bank and then charge in the day time wile the generator runs that way you'd save yourself some gas especially if all you need to do is turn lights on at night probably wouldn't make much sense to leave a generator running 24/7 wile you sleep
OK, got to ask and it probably sounds like a stupid question but what is the box thing with the flashing lights on it? Never seen anything like it over her in Australia

One thing to take note. Don't leave the bucket of fish in the shack with you if you stay over night. The fish will go bad. I did it 2 years ago when I kept 30 fish over 3 days of fish went home and told my dad and he said most them were bad from sitting in 60⁰+. Awesome looking fish house

Nice pad but you know when the fish aren't coming through you will be out hunting them! Always somewhere to warm up and relax this way though.
Hell yea is that shieldsville? I stop there often!..... I'm looking for a house like yours, are you ready to sell that one?
Who ever built this is a Genius !!!
Would you have the link for the lights 🤔
FIRE EXTINGUISHER !!! Get a fire extinguisher. For the love of god get a fire extinguisher.
Holy Crappie!
You get those moose lights from Mav’s house? Lol
Liv 'in the dream baby !! You should have murda and mav out there ?

Im truly curious, what keeps the ice from melting and you falling into the lake?
We have the same house!
Here to check out the new ice 🧊 Shaq great 👍 content man
Sounds like things are getting serious between you and steph if you are buying an ice house together
SWEEEEEEEET!!!
very eFISHant!
Did he say.." We were talking about Pegging"? Ok, I guess we know what takes place when the fish aren't biting.
set up for fishing nothing. You could run that out and use that as a summer cottage, spring or fall hunting shack.
Three hats.
nice
Know anyone that would rent on of those ice house’s? I live in Texas an would love to give it a try

It would be really nice to show us what Ice Shanty looks like from the outside!

I agree something is 'fishy' about not showing the outside!!!!
