I wish these reviews would stop focusing on the price of this bike. I almost bought one last weekend until I saw the actual price at the dealer. Sure, the MSRP is $2,971 but once the dealer adds on all their fees (at least here in SoCal,) the total was $4,447 BEFORE TAXES!!! Awsome...an entry level dual sport for under $3k! Oh, wait...over $5k out the door? I know I'm gonna pay sales tax but why would I pay a 50% dealer mark-up? The Honda website says $200 for destination but this dealer wanted $779. How hard is it to open a crate and put fluids in a bike? Evidently that costs $697! Ridonculous...capisce ridonculous?

It’ll be cool once they’re available used for the actual MSRP. People are gonna watch a few youtube videos, buy them, and then get bored once they realize it isn’t the type of they thought they wanted. It’s like paying $9-10k OTD on a brand new DRZ. It isn’t worth it, let the dummies with more money than sense buy them brand new so you can get it lightly used for half the price

That is just the reality of retail. You have overhead. Lots of overhead in fact (60% is actually very reasonable). It‘s just the way it is and because manufacturers want it that way because it‘s safe and convenient for them, it‘s never gonna change.

If its little motor is anything like the cg250 motors in the knock offs they will last. My hawk 250 was my backroads adv. Did almost 60k gps recorded miles on it. I had to retire the bike because the frame started to crumble after 5 years and 58,872 miles. Motor still is going strong though even after nearly 30k or more at full pin. Motor is now in a 79 XL 125 frame I paid 175 bucks for. The heart is still going. 😂

Great video, very good. This same model was sold here in Brazil for a long time, initially with 125 cc and later with 150 cc. Today it is for sale as the NXR 160 Bros, bringing more modernity with the digital panel, electronic injection, disc brakes on both wheels and, obviously, a larger displacement. We still don't have ABS, Ride Modes or Clutch Assist, but the bike is a top seller in the segment, a darling.

In the long run its more fun to ride a slow bike fast than ride a fast bike slow. I've been riding for almost 50 years starting on RD250, then RD350, FZ600(raced at Willow Springs and Riverside Raceway), Katana 600, and the best handling bike I ever had a Buell XB12 SCG Lightning. I did have a pretty serious high speed crash into K-rail on the Buell so I decided I really didn't need to go that fast any more so the bike I've had the last few years is a '76 RD400. Love the smell of 2-stroke in the morning. When I first saw the XR150L a few months ago I said I have to get one of these. I wanted a white one like everyone else but, figure I wasn't gong to be 3rd in line so I took the black one on the lot. Now that I've added some mods to it I am glad I did get the black one because I know think it looks better. The price was low enough to put on my credit card to use the miles for all the mods I want. I only have 165 miles so far and went 150 miles before I hit reserve on 1st tank. It took about 2 gallons for 75 MPG but, I feel that will go up as it breaks in. Cruises 55 easily in 4th or 5th and I had it to 65 on flat ground with my 230 lb. larda$$. So far so fun.

@@sknapp19911 Since I'm just barely hitting 400 miles because of lots of triple digit days and not enough free time. I haven't held it wide open for any length of time but, the first long ride I did I actually hit 65 with a breeze at my back. It seems to be able to do 50 in either 4th or 5th but, I have added at least 10-12 pounds of accessories on top of my 230 so I'm pleased so far with it. Last weekend I took a 26 mile round trip at 55 without going wide open for any length of time. If I do want to go faster I can always ride the RD.

Watching this I'm getting nostalgic for my old XR200RD from '83. Close ratio 6 speed, heaps of suspension travel and weighing in at about 100kg. Pin it's ears back and it red lined at 105kmh/65mph and could stay there till the tank emptied. Only had the front wheel so you had three points to park it on when you stopped. Used it heaps on and off road.

I bought this bike almost two months ago to commute back and forth to work out here in Arizona. 12 miles a day and I normally just get gas on Mondays spending around 3 dollars. I generally go 55 on surface streets and to go faster I would have to be quite a bit lighter. lol It's a good little bike. Paid for it in full and will use it as a commuter bike until it doesn't run anymore.

I have been blessed to own a 2019 model for a couple of years now here in South Africa.
They are so capable as long as you're willing to sit through difficult terrain. Its suspension is a little soft but what can you expect for such a low price. I bought mine second hand so it was even cheaper hahaha. I don't worry about dropping it much which makes it very confidence inspiring. The only complaint I have is that weird 19-inch front wheel. It does not like sand. Despite this, it truly is a little gem.

This is probably the best review I’ve seen so far.
People talk about ‘growing into’ or ‘growing out of’ a bike.
I’m a busted up old C rider who is approaching 60 years old, on a fixed income. That said I think I’ll ‘grow into’ this bike as I get older yet, lol.
I ride a Honda Monkey now, which I love, but I ride off road 95-% of the time and the little wheels have bit me more then once.
Although experienced, yet not ‘fast’ I think this bike is a good, solid choice for me.
    Thoughts?
    Thank you,
    Mike.

Drop it and u can always pick it up, u can clutch start it in 5m of space, and if all else fails u can push it. U could even carry it in most cars with wheels, handlebars and front guard removed.

Besides quite a big difference in price here, it's lower seat height and weight are a lot more user-friendly for shorter/average height riders than Honda's CRF250/300L.

Ive had a few bikes over the years and it seems the smaller bikes are more fun. Larger bikes are scary fast and heavy so if you crash ypur bike is as dangerous to your body as the objects you run into.
I now live in Ecuador and small bikes rule here as people cant afford bigger bikes, with the taxes added. It is maddening how Honda offers very few bikes here. This 150, the 190 and the Tornado 250 are here and sell well. Every other Honda you know is not offered here. No Grom, no Monkey, no Trail 125, NO SUPERCUB?!

Wow, this bike has existed for so long. It started out as the NXR 150 in Brazil. Then we got it here in India as the Hero Impulse (Hero Honda was the Indian subsidiary of Honda). Now it's XR150 for US. This XR looks downgraded, because both the Indian and Brazilian versions had better digital instrument cluster and overall better looks. That 149cc Honda engine is world famous for reliability and refinement. It also has a more hardcore cousin, the CRF 150L.

It’s a 25 years old bike with a bigger bore kit and a facelift. XR125L. Which is itself a 20 yo bike with a facelift. Google it.
Doesn’t remove its qualities, but still a little pricy

Been thinking of adding one of these to the collection for friends & beginners to tag along with me for some light trail riding. Been watching your videos a while now, If you are ever in Florida and want to give an xr650l a spin/review your welcome to try and beat up on mine. They are pretty much bulletproof tractors in my opinion.

Just a clone of the Chinese Hawk motorcycle with a smaller engine, carburetor instead of FI, drum brake instead of disc, and a "HONDA" decal on the gas tank. And the Hawk costs one grand less. Plus the XR is quite tall and heavy for a small bike. Remember folks many of the reviewers on here get these motorcycles loaned or given to them free solely for making hyped up RUclips videos about them so of course they will make them sound like the greatest motorcycle to come to the USA in the last 20 years. Both Honda and the author stand to make money here so keep that in mind when watching "review" videos.....

    • @andrewgee241
      @andrewgee241 Год назад

@@andrewgee241 so why do the Hondas look exactly like the Hawks??? And why are the Hawks updated with fuel injection, disc brakes, and have a larger engine that will go faster than 45 MPH? The Honda is very tall, heavy, very outdated, and underpowered but of course it's the greatest new motorcycle to come to the USA in the last 20 years!!! Really??? Most of you buyers will sell the ones you bought after a year or 2 of ownership I'll bet....you'll see. Just like when the CT 125 came out people were in line to buy them. Now there are many for sale on Facebook Marketplace because they are slow and boring.
