When diego was originally struggling to catch his prey, I didn't think it was because he's getting old necessarily. I think it had to do with the fact he was hanging out with the herd for so long that he was being pulled too far away from his roots as a hunter. That would explain why he wanted to leave, as well as why he was able to push through his struggles later. He was just getting a little less fit.
If you like diego by the way, he actually gets a massive love interest in the next movie, and is one of the bigger plots in the film. I loved the 4th one personally 💙

that's a pretty good explanation in the movie, tho it was inspired on the reason why his species went extinct in real life: they were adapted for hunting big prey, and prey started evolving to be smaller and faster....

@@theramdomchannel8329 That's a good point. That would mean he actually wasn't out of shape and was being forced to adapt. Kinda makes Diego a beast, being able to sprint that far considering Smilodons are purely ambush predators.

BTW, Deigo/Sabre-tooth tiger, he’s not getting old, they’re not meant for speed, so he got tired, they’re meant for ambushes, but he did get over it and saved Ellie, if it wasn’t for him, Peaches would never have been born. He’s my favourite!
Plus I imagine staying around with the herd he hadn't been hunting a lot, so he basically was less coordinated for chasing down prey, thus he lost his edge and that's why he felt he needed to separate.
Well, that, and for a more biological reason being that sabers were never really built for running like he did that deer guy, they're ambush predators after all and built for tackling big game with as little energy expended as possible. Things became an issue when prey evolved to be not only smaller, but faster with that. (Tho I do agree he overcame that when he needed to. x'P)
Fun fact Sophie, the reason that Diego got winded after chasing that Megaloceras (the prehistoric deer) at the beginning of the movie is because the Saber-toothed Cat like many big cats are good for speed but only for short distances. And masculine limbs are built to hold down the prey so they can use the famous sabers. They’re basically dwarves, wasted on cross country but deadly at a short distance.

Let the girl react to all of the movies, just because some of you all didn't like the 4th and 5th movie doesn't automatically mean she's not going to like it, some people including myself like it because it's still funny.

I don't think I've seen anyone be so genuinely mad at a CG animated mammoth. It's kind of funny.
In all seriousness though, I get why Manny is as hyperfixated on the baby above all else, seeing how his last wife and child were slaughtered for their meat and fur in front of him. Yeah, he is being an ass, but it's not like he is doing it for shits and giggles. Poor dude just doesn't want to lose another wife and kid, and that unfortuantely makes him lose sight of the rest of his friends.

To be fair sid has proven himself to be completely incompetent even without parental responsibilities so Manny’s reaction is reasonable

Ice Age 3 is my favorite out of the franchise I'm so glad you react to this !
One of my problems with this movie (besides its overfocus on Sid and Sid's own selfishness/flanderisation, which always irritates me every time I watch it) is how Manny and Diego's friendship is handled. I mean, think back to the first movie! Those two risked their lives for each other and nearly died for each other! Their bond should be super strong and i dunno have a lot of deep communication, but instead we got this friendship breakup.
The Ice Age fandom has always been puzzled by it since it makes no sense since Manny and Diego are best friends (closer than either of them with Sid imo) and it just feels weird, to the point that I've written two fanfics exploring the hows and whys of why it happened because the sequels GLOSS OVER EVERYTHING. That is the main problem with these sequels - they GLOSS OVER anything and everything important/dark/deep and don't explore it. I still love them to pieces but they frustrate me so much now! Also Buck is great.
I think it makes sense considering throughout the movie they all grew this family and as a baby is joining the family, Diego leaving would make manny upset. It makes sense that he would be upset Diego is leaving

The 4th and 5th movies, while many people hate them, overall they’re also enjoyable

14:15 About that, there was gonna be a Disney+ show starring the possums and Buck in 2022. However, because Disney shut down Blue Sky Studios, the fate of that show is unknown at the moment.

It is still happening. After they shut down Blue Sky Studios, it was redeveloped as a film. Now, it will be released on Disney plus early 2022.

This movie is really the story of most close friend groups after graduation, I never thought I'd relate to extinct animated animals but I do. Love the reaction!

In this movie they are playing with the concept of some old movies that used to imagine hidden worlds beneath Earth's surface with all kind of extinct creatures. In the 60's there was even a whole series about it called "The Lost World", which they used as the concept for a movie with Will Ferrell in 2009.
Scratte was voiced by Karen Disher, the storyboard artist for the character. as usually happens on these movies, the artists and animators will record themselves on a scratch track to go with the scene they worked on with the idea to have their dialogue replaced by a professional later. sometimes though, they fall in love with the scratch track or can't find anything better and they end up rerecording the dialogue themselves later. this is how Chris Wedge who directed the first movie ended up voicing one of the dodos. it's also why Brad Bird voices Edna Mode in The Incredibles movies.

Theory about why the dinosaurs don't speak: perhaps, animals (non-human) from their own "time" can talk to each other? Aside, from that, idk. Also, the humans and the squirrels, Scrat and Scratte, don't "speak" either.

Trust me, you're gonna love Buck the dinosaur hunting swashbuckling weasel as a character. He's getting a spin-off movie of Ice Age franchise called Ice Age: Adventures of Buck Wild that's still coming to Disney+ in 2022 for Ice Age's 20th anniversary until next year. 🙂

@@klltx2001 I already saw this movie, and I looked at the ratings, and I have to say, this is the worst animated movies ever.
Because this movie doesn't make any sense, and it's a confused movie.
Because the story doesn't focus on Buck, the story only focus on Crash and Eddie, the animation is different, the main characters has different voice actors except for Buck, and there's no Scrat in this movie since the main characters are here, and the main villain sounds goofy and not smartest villain ever.
Yeah, the viewers were right. The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild is actually the worst animated movies ever.
I like the all five classic movies of Ice Age franchise that's been made by Blue Sky Studios way much better than this Ice Age spin-off movie.
Oh, Yeah, Ice Age: Scrat Tales the last project of Blue Sky Studios is way much better than The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild too.
My favorite thing about this movie was the tie in PS3 video game, that game was my childhood and it was a pretty solid translation of media form.

I personally think that, though "4"isn't TERRIBLE(5 is), this one is the true finale to the series and my favorite of all. Just the final shot of the mobile(which now has the entire family, not just the mammoths)and Buck at the bottom is very sweet.

Technically not all the creatures in this movies talk. Both dinosaurs and the prehistoric marine reptiles of the second movie don't talk, but they are able to interact each other (in fact the two marine reptiles work together despite they are different species). That probably means that they speak a primitive language that Ice Age animals have forgotten

As much as I love this movie, it did kinda do Manny and Diego’s friendship dirty with Manny not wanting to talk to Diego about his problems and then immediately taking it the worst possible way. Not this movie’s fault, but hindsight is 20-20 and this was the beginning of the end time when it comes to these movies remembering that Manny, Sid, and Diego are supposed to be really close.

I definitely recommend keeping watching these based on what you said throughout this one it sounds like the other two will be right up your alley, although I can't say the same for the Christmas special. I love this franchise but even I avoid the Christmas one.

In my opinion the franchise should have ended here. I feel like the following movies didn't add anything to the world and just felt cheep and moneygrabbing. Still this movie is by far my favorite. Buck is sooo funny I quote him to this day

Ice age 4 for sure has some problems but it’s a fun ride especially with the main protagonists and antagonists. Ice age 5 isn’t the best film but it is nice to watch animation wise. It’s up to you if you wanna watch that one or not.

Pinafore_ the characters use "round" as a compliment and "triangular" as an insult, and now it's funny comparing them to movies nowadays like _Turning Red_ and _Ice Age 3_ , where the reverse is true.

Apparently that squirrel was made up and not meant to be a real animal but people discovered that it was real after they had made it. Not sure if it true but thought I would share.
