I've done no soak for a while now. Best method. I spoke to my local extension office and was assure this is safe as long as you use .5 cup dry beans for pints and 1 cup for quarts. Rebel on friends.
Thanks for sharing Joyce. The authorities? have incomplete testing on this method ...and no interest in retesting for the lost information . most of our grannies methods and recipes are ok. . just not " approved" ( said in a pompous voice lol ).. if others are having awesome sessions? i listen more to the masses then the l.m.n.o.p's lol... your one of the masses lol. have a great weekend✔👌
I canned these in the past ,and the beans were hard ..they never softened, but the sauce was so good. I read somewhere that if you add a little baking soda the beans will soften up... So I'm going for a second round with just a little pinch of baking soda. The sauce is as good as I remember! I can't wait to eat this deliciousness!! Thank you for the recipe!!😊👍🏻❤️
A little trick with opening cans of tomato paste, open both ends, remove the lid on one end, then flip over and push it through by using your finger, and once it's all out, remove the second lid. It removes the paste cleanly.
Oh man! I wish I saw this yesterday. I made my first batch of Boston baked beans from the Amish canning cookbook. I followed the recipe which required 2 boils and then baking for 3 hours. After processing them I am now the proud owner of 14 pints of mushy cement beans!
i've done that as well.. thats why i now do mine this way.. works texture wise and nice home baked flavor without needing a whole pots worth to deal with.

Hi from Melbourne Australia. Love your honesty and down to earth approach. PC is very new here, I started 10 years ago but have not PC baked beans as yet. I know there is a big difference between US beans and UK which is what we eat. I shall be PC the UK recipe using the no soak method. I have PC chickpeas by just washing and into jars, I added less then 1/4 full of dried beans and topped up with hot tap water to 1/2” and PC. These came out so well and tasted creamy and delicious, my jars where full by the time they cooled down.
You made me smile! I went to the store to purchase deli- premade baked beans and potato salad, the cost was crazy! $10 for maybe a quart. I thought then, I need to figure out how to can baked beans, so I can grab them in a hurry! Will be doing this soon! Bit of a rebel myself!
Glad I stumbled onto this, you bunch of Rebels LOL 😂The beans look great, and I think I could smell them from the middle of Pennsylvania as you took them from the canner. So delicious looking, I can see a future bean canning happening here very soon. Thank you so much for sharing this video. 😍
I was doing no soak canning beans but learning about inflammation and how much better hubby and I feel with arthritis and adhd without inflammation causing foods I had to go back to soaking. I have to use bottle water to because of my hard water.
I just discovered the no-soak method for canning beans, and I was so excited I decided to search and see if there was a way to do it for baked beans, and of course your channel popped up again. :) I'm so excited to give this a try. I'm first going to can up some ketchup with all the tomatoes in my freezer, then I'll use that and follow your recipe. I love how you always seem to have the exact recipes I'm looking for. lol
You are so welcome!..they really are wonderful beans. doing up our reg recipe and canning it? has proven to come in quite handy. sometimes i crave home baked beans but don't want that whole recipe to deal with as left overs.. this way? cravings fed and no leftovers lol
I've been canning beans for about 7 years now. Have used the no soak method often. I find these days that I do prefer to presoak my beans as I do find their texture better. It may simply be the age of the beans - I bought a lot when the lock down started and with the current prices I'm glad I did, but it could mean the beans need longer to rehydrate. The only difficulty I find comes from whether the recipe I am following is for soaked or no soak beans as that changes the amount of liquids and seasonings I need to use. I also wonder if more or less flavour is absorbed. One last thought - as I go through youtube and search out recipes for canning baked beans I find myself smiling a lot. None of the recipes actually bake the beans.
The problem with not soaking beans is not that they are necessarily unsafe but that soaking and draining off the soaking water releases a large amount of lectins which can cause inflammation and leaky gut. Soaking beans and cooking them in fresh water is much more digestible.
we love having home baked beans at an arms reach.. without having to make a full batch you know?.. so versatile as well..this method is gold for us lol
My gosh! We even got a little serenade at the very end -- good one Andy!! The beans looked really good. I've got to try my hand at canning again. And THIS time I will make sure the pressure gauge is tightly screwed in! Have a great week-end!

beans are so nice to have on hand.. not the typical store canned taste.. that fresh from the oven omg home baked beans taste lol. thanks for stopping in Mary. Hope your resting ( i know it's hard when you have animals) but i hope your getting some rest.. and elderberry syrup in ya? 🤍
normally? chicken. however? im out (gasp) lol.. so i used beef broth. changes it up some. but not in a bad way. use what you have on hand. it all works.
half pints are ALWAYS considered as a pint in processing times. i used 1/2 cup beans for a full pint.. half pint? just cut it in half again. seems like not alot of beans in a finished jar tho...i'd just use pints . once opened? it's still good in the jar in fridge like 3 days. or. put into a baggie and freeze if not wanting it again within 3 days? Let me know if you do.. and if it was enough for what you were looking for please. curious lol and nosy lol
@@pegsclips thank you 😊. I will definitely let you know. Unfortunately I’m the only one in my house who would eat them. If I had my way I’d definitely eat a whole pint with dinner 😂
no sorry. Most prefer to follow along with video. it's pretty straight forward.and so adaptable to even use with your favorite beans recipe you'd make at home. beans to liquid ratio is the trick here. this method has never failed us. happy beaning lol
because it's a rebel recipe. . i felt better leaving the recipe for a long period on the video so it could be paused and copied if someone wished it. That way? it's making ppl watch at least the first part of video advising that it's a REBEL session and that ppl need to check first on there own..otherwise they open description /copy/and not hear the disclaimer.
What type of chili flakes do you recommend. I recently bought bad chili flakes or red pepper flakes here in the United States. They were so bad mold was growing in them when I got them. I noticed you had a big container of them. Are they crushed peppers or do they call them Chili flakes? I can not seem to find them by searching Chili flakes. Also, is that broth beef, onion, mushroom, or vegetable? I really do want to follow this recipe and get the full experience! Thank you :) God bless!
hey Jo.. sorry for delay.. we're just finding our way back to youtube after 9 month illness in home. i normally am much quicker. the flakes we use are called crushed chilli's ...i hope you returned those bad ones. to get the best from this recipe use chicken broth.. i just made do.. still good tho but i normally use chicken broth.
thats why i prefer the beans in a no soak method. did you find carrots mushy? some ppl hate the texture and some love it. have you tried to can fresh harvested carrots ? ( just asking.. curious)
hope you enjoy.. in the decades we've made these? when brought to a function? first pot of beans to go. so we figured.. lets try canning them instead of the oven method we've been doing.. now we have them on hand when home baked beans are craved without needing to make the whole recipe lol.. that.. is a bonus lol
I look at videos from around the world on how they can. Many different ways THAT WORK and are safe. Common sense has been replaced by government recommendations. I have family that ewww oven can greenbeans . For years. I'm going to try it this year. If you are interested I would be happy to share my experience and opinion. Beans should be in in June. We are in Texas.
Is the reason this recipe is not approved because of the cured bacon or is it just the no soak. I can not understand why adding a few ingredients to the water would make a difference.
hey Kathryn. i do believe it's the no soak.. but if ppl just follow the proper amounts for each jar? there will NOT be an issue.. yes beans swell.. but as you can see plenty of room was allowed for that. your going to love doing beans this way.. we go thu them so fast.. but it's not an issue to redo either. i just tell my friends..do up your normal recipe your family LOVES..that way you know the beans will be appreciated.
A thought--The NHI does not approve anything they have not tested. So I don't think you are a rebel (sorry) Just smart. I am going to make this tomorrow. Yea!
SO SOOOO many recipes are NOT approved..but are so obviously safe.. if something is questionable? i try to make sure my viewers know this is or is not an approved method .. hence the "rebel".. groups have named themselves rebel in the last decade.. the word Rebel its self has /is changing..shorter to type then questionable approval lol
I've done no soak for a while now. Best method. I spoke to my local extension office and was assure this is safe as long as you use .5 cup dry beans for pints and 1 cup for quarts. Rebel on friends.

two pints will fit into a quart jar so i would double your beans and follow with proper headspace.
@@pegsclips thank you
I am soooo going to do this.
ha ha ha i said those same words when i first seen it as well. lol
🤣I was gonna ask if you shipped!!
Is there a written recipe anywhere that I can look at
no sorry. Most prefer to follow along with video. it's pretty straight forward.and so adaptable to even use with your favorite beans recipe you'd make at home. beans to liquid ratio is the trick here. this method has never failed us. happy beaning lol
I would love the recipe for rebel bake beans
because it's a rebel recipe. . i felt better leaving the recipe for a long period on the video so it could be paused and copied if someone wished it. That way? it's making ppl watch at least the first part of video advising that it's a REBEL session and that ppl need to check first on there own..otherwise they open description /copy/and not hear the disclaimer.
Oooooh, brown sugar molasses baked beans😋😋😋
The best
Love baked beans, wish carrots didn't get so mushy.
thats why i prefer the beans in a no soak method. did you find carrots mushy? some ppl hate the texture and some love it. have you tried to can fresh harvested carrots ? ( just asking.. curious)
@@pegsclips I will try that.thanks.
What kind of broth? Chicken or beef.
typically use chicken.. but had none and i won't use store's so i used my beef broth.. it really is totally up to what you prefer. I love both ways.
Do you can bacon or milk or cheese?
We show milk as well as cheese and butter . Right here ruclips.net/p/PL_esfRPyYcgZiuEf_zkM_Wp7k9FnZu8ZP THANK YOU for asking .💦
Making tonight minus the bacon. Thanks.
hope you enjoy.. in the decades we've made these? when brought to a function? first pot of beans to go. so we figured.. lets try canning them instead of the oven method we've been doing.. now we have them on hand when home baked beans are craved without needing to make the whole recipe lol.. that.. is a bonus lol
I loved!!!!! Looks delicious!! big hugs sweetie♥
Thank you 😋 it's nice having them right here on the shelf.. enjoyed without making a big batch in oven when i want them. hugs back atcha 🤍🙋♀️
"None of this crap they sell you in cans"🤔 I know thats right
i can't even open a can of store beans and enjoy them...im doomed to always fresh can home baked beans.. like... so easy to just do eh?
What is rebel canning. I thought it was wb canning.
Do these thicken up or do they stay on the thinner side?
mine thickened up.. not as much as when i do them in oven but still pretty close.
Xoxox thanks much love xoxox
You are so welcome. So glad you enjoyed this. ✔👌

Please but recipe on video
I'm sorry, I don't understand. The recipes are all in our video's in that playlist.
@@pegsclips could not see the receipe
Navy beans swell really bad when used to make baked beans.
