Thank you for this video! I tracked my spending for the entire year. With the exception of a crazy week or two in November, I recorded (hopefully) nearly every single cent I spent in a spreadsheet. What an eye opening experience! I thought I was being a good steward of my money! I was quite shocked at the results in some categories (I'm looking at you...clothes, shoes and accessories! And your brokeness-inducing bestie category "Eating out") It's amazing how quickly those little thrift and sale purchases can add up! I've set up my spending tracking spreadsheet for the new year. I am aiming for a low-to-no-spend 2025.
If you have people wanting money as a loan. The answer is no. If you have people that are telling you that you have to spend your money. The answer is no. When shopping think to yourself do I have room, will I actually use this daily or weekly. If not the answer is No. Future you will be happier with you than you realize.
Keep a crisp $100 bill in your wallet. When you see something you want, make a decision. Is the thing more important than the richness of always having $100!
The 24 hours (or longer) wait can even help me see if it is essential or not. When I'm keen on something I'm pretty good at convincing myself it's a need rather than a want, especially if FOMO kicks in ("I need it and it's on sale!" Etc) I'd blame myself but there are billion dollar industries and whole professions working hard to get me to think this way. Saving money is also an implicit middle finger to capitalism, in a way
No buy in 2025- Goal 1. To stop my unconscious/impulsive behaviors with money and to become intentional. 2. to learn what I have and what I actually need (because things don't seem to matter AFTER I buy them. 3. To save and better manage my money...
I tell myself that if I don't need it I don't want it. It works most of the time.

I liked buying things on sale. I have had to change my mind to looking at items whether I actually need them. 9/10 it’s no I don’t.
I'm going to get back into a No spend/Low spend year! 2024 was just rough and I missed tracking a lot of it.
I’ve tracked my spending for years. Then I analyze for trends etc

Your advice is always gold! Happy holidays 🎉
If you bank on line and use a bank app, you can track your spending, without the journaling.
Thanks for the frugal tips always
Thank you for the advice. I appreciate it. 🙂
