Is nobody going to mention the parents in this vid? They adopted Gabe. How many people would take on that kind of responsibility? They are also true heroes in my opinion. I thought I had problems. They`re nothing compared to this fine gentleman. I remember being so mad in high school. I was an all-star track jock. I never hit the 600 yard dash in 1st place and I broke out a window with my fist.

Every disabled person I know has been bullied. Some it’s so normalized they don’t even realize it’s bullying till years later because when everyone is hurting you and you’ve never known anything else it can take a long time to recognize it. I’m so thankful his family is supportive and helping him through. So many disabled people don’t have supportive families. ❤

My struggle in life is nothing compared this young. This young man is a great inspiration. If anyone with all the limbs thinks life is too hard for them, they need to look at this young man.
I went to school with Gabe! I’m sure he doesn’t remember me but it was always incredible to see him take his own class notes and do everything so independently. I remember him performing with our dance company and at different assemblies. It was so cool! I’m so glad to see that he’s continuing to dance and that he’s become an inspirational speaker.
Stories like this is the reason why everyday I’m thankful to be alive and have my two arms, two legs, eyes etc because sometimes we forget and take that for granted.
You don't have to compare yourself to someone having less limbs to feel validated. You should be thankful for yourself not because someone isn't blessed with limbs. You're just degrading that person implying he's less of a human being.

That means that he uses all his available body muscles to get from day to day. It's a smart move when you don't have any other limbs. Gotta still try to be be physically as dynamic as possible for each and every scenario.
His parents are the perfect example of what parents should be. Whether yoir child has a disability or not. They were his leader, his guide, his protectors. Not his friends. So many parents forget that is what they owe their children.
i'm pretty sure they were/are his friends too. I think it's important for your parents to be your friends. Parents should be parents who can guide and protect you, but also a friend that can provide emotional support, that you can talk to, and that you can have fun with and hang out with. My father focused too much on being just a parent I had to respect and fear that it built this big wall between us. He treated me a way that I will never forgive. I was distant from my mom as well for the longest time because she always sided with him. But these days, she's been more of a friend to me and now we always hang out, talk, and laugh together. It's been really really great and not so lonely anymore. Parents are supposed to be your friends. Why wouldn't you want to be friends with your own child? Don't you want to get to know them as a person and be there for them?? There are things that you'll never know about your child unless you reach your hand out to them as a friend. And his parents clearly adopted him knowing he had such a disability. So obviously, they're going to raise him with love and care.

He is so inspiring. I do not have legs myself and I too of course would wish I had legs at times. But I have come to the point where it doesn't bother me. The only time it bothers me is when I want to do some exercises and i can't. I gained more weight after my twin pregnancy and it is getting so hard to lose it. I am working hard to lose but otherwise I believe I have a message to share and I should embrace my "no legs" self. Thanks for sharing these people Barcroft. I think it's not only about investing financially in your children but emotionally. Caring for children is hard work! And they obviously did right by them, the same can't be said for a lot of people with just a single child! A friend of mine committed suicide last year and she was only 27 years old but she had been very ill (major depression) for many years. I am still very sad about it but I understand why she did it. Could she have tried different antidepressants to see if they worked? Yes. But I'm not going to judge her in a negative way or call her selfish for ending her pain. Had I known she was going to do that I would have tried to stop her, of course.
My God gave a Stronger man than myself a heavier burden so the weaker ones of us could be inspired, be amazed and hopeful. That man has no limbs, he has family, he has happyness, he has purpose, way more than many of us. I went to school with Gabe! I’m sure he doesn’t remember me but it was always incredible to see him take his own class notes and do everything so independently. I remember him performing with our dance company and at different assemblies. It was so cool! I’m so glad to see that he’s continuing to dance and that he’s become an inspirational speaker.

That means that he uses all his available body muscles to get from day to day.

His parents are the perfect example of what parents should be. Whether yoir child has a disability or not. They were his leader, his guide, his protectors. Not his friends. So many parents forget that is what they owe their children.
My parents are all of that and my friends too ...you need to realize that parents are kids ínside too
i'm pretty sure they were/are his friends too. I think it's important for your parents to be your friends. Parents should be parents who can guide and protect you, but also a friend that can provide emotional support, that you can talk to, and that you can have fun with and hang out with. My father focused too much on being just a parent I had to respect and fear that it built this big wall between us. He treated me a way that I will never forgive. I was distant from my mom as well for the longest time because she always sided with him. But these days, she's been more of a friend to me and now we always hang out, talk, and laugh together. It's been really really great and not so lonely anymore. Parents are supposed to be your friends. Why wouldn't you want to be friends with your own child? Don't you want to get to know them as a person and be there for them?? There are things that you'll never know about your child unless you reach your hand out to them as a friend.
And his parents clearly adopted him knowing he had such a disability. So obviously, they're going to raise him with love and care.
Disability yes but high functioning autism or some other heavy disabilities can ruin marriages with how bad they are.

He is so inspiring. I do not have legs myself and I too of course would wish I had legs at times. But I have come to the point where it doesn't bother me. The only time it bothers me is when I want to do some exercises and i can't. I gained more weight after my twin pregnancy and it is getting so hard to lose it. I am working hard to lose but otherwise I believe I have a message to share and I should embrace my "no legs" self. Thanks for sharing these people Barcroft. They make us see we are not the only ones!!

Joking aside...more than anything - you need a good financial situation - to be able to raise so many children (a huge house, even basic necessities like food and clothing - can cost quite a lot... on top of that - you have the expenses for education and so on and so forth....). I think it's not only about investing financially in your children but emotionally. Caring for children is hard work! A friend of mine committed suicide last year and she was only 27 years old but she had been very ill (major depression) for many years. I am still very sad about it but I understand why she did it. Could she have tried different antidepressants to see if they worked? Yes. But I'm not going to judge her in a negative way or call her selfish for ending her pain. Had I known she was going to do that I would have tried to stop her, of course.
