The "Look Ma...No Hands!", on the back of his wheelchair, absolutely cracked me up! I had an Aunt who had no legs and her favorite thing to say was, "And there I was, without a leg to stand on!". I miss her everyday and Ryan's sense of humor brought back so many great memories; we spent all our time laughing! She was a trip!👍💜
@@sashapollard92 Thanks! She was so hilarious! Right hand to God, she got in a car accident and threw one of her prosthetic legs out the window, just to freak people out! (It worked!😉) We had plenty of fun with her too, sometimes we'd turn the speed all the way up on her wheelchair, without her knowing, so she'd take off crazy fast.🤭 I did it to her at Kmart, and she ran into one of those big round clothing racks, and her chair kinda got hung up on it, so when she tried to back away from it, the whole thing went with her...so she was just going forward and backwards, over and over, making hangers and shirts fly all over the place! We all laughed until it hurt, we had tears running down our faces! Thankfully she thought it was as funny as the rest of the family....oh man, we laughed about that for years! 😆😆😆😆 I miss her so much. As a nurse, I know the pain my patients go through, and nothing makes me happier than to see those who find ways to laugh through the pain. They're allowed plenty of time to be upset and scared, but I do my best to fill as much time as possible, with fun and laughter. Most of my "training" in the fun and laughter part of my job, came from my time with my Aunt; she was an amazing teacher!
Suzy Q oh my your post had me laughing and crying all at the same time. My daughter has 17q12 deletion syndrome (missing chromosome 17) (similar to Down syndrome) basically messed up all her internal organs (ears, heart, kidneys, GI, etc) but oddly enough she didn’t come out with the face (which is actually why doctors took so long to diagnose it). People always feel bad for her because she’s so young (4 y/o) and has been through so much and they always say how can you deal with it and I tell them if you don’t laugh you’ll just cry. I tell people “She’s pretty on the outside, but ugly on the inside” lol
@@crystalortega2156 I'm glad my stories gave you a good laugh! I could write a book of stories about my Aunt, she was too funny and such a good sport. We have a relatively small family, there was 6 of us and we were always together; I swear we were like a traveling 3 ring circus! There was a period of time, probably like 3 years, when the 6 of us started chopping each other in the throat, like full-on karate chop, ok? So we walked around with our hand covering and protecting our own necks, but the second one of us let down our guard...CHOP! Then that person would be choking and coughing, mad as hell, and ready to get revenge! That's probably the most painful thing we did to each other... During another stretch of like 4 years we shanked each other, you know when you yank someone's pants down? 🤭 It was never funny to the shanked one, but the other 5 members of this "circus" would die laughing! I got it the worst, when we were all headed on a cruise vacation, but we were late to the airport so we were running/rolling to the gate so we wouldn't miss our flight to Florida...well, my evil mother decided that would be the perfect time to shank me (🖕that's for my mom. It's been 30 years and I'm still a little pissed about it.🤷🏼♀️😉), anyways, she shanked me, and because we were walking so fast, I walked right out of my pants!!! So, there I stood, in the middle of the damn airport, in my undies, a good 10 steps away from my pants, because it all happened so fast. It was just perfect timing...as my pants came down, I stepped right out of them....and boy was I mad! Of course they were laughing themselves stupid as I had to walk back to get my pants and put them back on.🙄 I can only imagine how funny it must have been for them, because I know I would have shat myself laughing if it had been one of them.😉 But that was us...that's the kind of crap we were doing all the time. It was on that cruise when we went swimming with the stingrays, and my aunt wanted to get in the water too, so we ripped her legs off, popped some arm floaties on her, and tossed her overboard. That was normal for us, but you should have seen the other people on the tour with us! It was like one of those moments, in a movie, where the record scratches, and everyone turns to look as their jaws hit the floor... But we were all like, "what?". 🤷🏼♀️ There was never a moment that she wasn't right there doing whatever the rest of us were doing, we just found a way. She even climbed Dunn's River Falls with us; it wasn't pretty, but we did it. Anyway, enough about my crazy family, let's talk about yours! 😉 Your daughter sounds like a little doll! I'm sorry to hear she has that diagnosis, and I'm really sorry it took so long to figure it out. There's nothing more frustrating than knowing something's wrong, but not being about to name it...at least once you have a diagnosis, you can be more prepared to deal with whatever treatments or milestones are coming. I've actually heard about that diagnosis before, I think it was on a SBSK video. If you haven't already been watching that channel, YOU NEED TO START RIGHT FREAKING NOW! The guy, Chris, who does the interviews is absolutely amazing, and he's bringing awareness to different conditions, so when we see people with these conditions we know how to best react. The parents always say they would welcome people approaching them out in public, and that it's ok to come over and say hi to their child. I know it's hard for folks to know how to act around someone that looks so different or acts differently, but this channel aims to help break those fears, by answering the questions people might have, and it has allowed these kids to have the confidence to go out and be around people, when they were too scared before. It's a truly beautiful thing he and his girlfriend are doing for the whole world! When we learn about each other, and see that we're all just people who have the same hopes and dreams and fears and interests, we gain understanding and acceptance and tolerance and togetherness and support and love... I think that's what we're supposed to be doing with our lives, and his channel helps that process along. Now you said your little angel is all messed up on the inside, but perfectly together on the outside; I think that describes us all but to different extents.😉 What, if you don't mind sharing, does her day to day life look like? And what do you expect for the future? Does she require surgeries or treatments, or is it just a wait and see game? Or does her insides function normally, but things are just in weird places? I guess what I'm asking is, "what's the deal?". If you don't feel like getting into it, I totally understand, but if you do I'd really appreciate it! Anytime I bump into someone in these crazy comment sections with a health condition, I always ask because any information is like gold to me! I can take it into practice and better care for my pts, and I share it with my students so they can take it with them, to better care for their future pts. Oh my God, I've been blabbing for freaking ever! I'm sorry I got carried away with my silly stories and endless personal questions. 🤦🏼 I'll cut you loose now.... Give your little one a hug from me in NC, and I'll look forward to (maybe) hearing back from you. 😉 Goodnight, Crystal! *Please excuse any and all misspellings and grammar mistakes...I suck at that stuff and I just don't feel like proofreading this insanely long reply.😳 It's late and I'm going to sleep...well, right after I read up on whatever our "stable genius" of a president has done today. 🙄 Ugh...that man drives me bonkers. Here's a link to the SBSK channel I mentioned earlier... (I think) I kinda suck at computer stuff.😬 Hey, It is what it is. 🤷🏼♀️ At least I can admit it. ruclips.net/channel/UC4E98HDsPXrf5kTKIgrSmtQ

A lot of disabled children get abused out of frustration/ resentment from the parents. Giving the parents a guilt free option of giving up the baby to a better home would protect the child.
I think that is outrageous too. WHo does not want their child.

she was deformed and familied would adopt her to stay at their homes because she was

I just noticed that as I scrolled down and saw your comment.
So cool! I'm super glad you got to experience that again.
@@sashapollard92 Thanks! She was so hilarious! Right hand to God, she got in a car accident and threw one of her prosthetic legs out the window, just to freak people out! (It worked!😉)
We had plenty of fun with her too, sometimes we'd turn the speed all the way up on her wheelchair, without her knowing, so she'd take off crazy fast.🤭 I did it to her at Kmart, and she ran into one of those big round clothing racks, and her chair kinda got hung up on it, so when she tried to back away from it, the whole thing went with her...so she was just going forward and backwards, over and over, making hangers and shirts fly all over the place!
There was never a moment that she wasn't right there doing whatever the rest of us were doing, we just found a way.
