It’s public property, which is why some have existed there for years. As the story stated, they are being removed, so the government can test for chemicals they contaminated the property with. Well temporary mishaps happen but I think if you're trying you'll probably be alright in Tucson. The thing is I don't think any of these homeless people are actually from Tucson .... they just come for the weather. Being homeless is one thing ... being homeless and mentally ill is another. Most people I see look like they have SERIOUS physical a/o mental health issues. I don't think they can just "pull themselves up" at that point
Better than on the streets, front of shops and around school, and that’s where they will go if removed. The land is there. Actually… if the government wants to, this problem will be solved long ago. Give them work, make them build their on houses assisted, shop and security provided by them. Away from drug dealers and temptations.
You realize they WANT to be near "drug deals and temptations" right? Otherwise, they would STAY at one of the many homeless shelters....but they cant/dont want to because they wont follow the rules.

🤔 According to city of Tucson Mayor that's NOT TRUE! Not all homeless are druggies. Lots of evictions are responsible for this. The cost to move in entraps these poor evicted tenants. Yes, the druggies are there but not like we all think. The Mayor is looking into helping these homeless people.
@@debrananez9836 Greetings Debra: I do not maintain all homeless are druggies. Some hard working & addiction free people have fallen on hard times; these people deserve our sympathy and help. As a physician, I have seen too many Americans fall down the rabbit hole of addiction. We will not begin to address the homelessness issue until we take off our rose colored glasses and realize drug addition is a cancerous epidemic. BTW, I sponsor a charity in Panama,Central America; I am truly impressed by the Panamanian culture values family ties & support. I wonder how much better the American homelessness circumstances would be if we still had a family centered culture.
Hi I would like to introduce myself to you. I am homeless. I have never done drugs nor do I drink. I am a Christian and I am seeking a job. I own an RV that I have stored but I can't live in it. They don't hire me. I don't have an address, it's hard to stay clean when I literally sleep on the ground, I am sunburned and because I'm 50 I need dental work done. I'm exhausted and in pain. The shelters are full. There isn't much hope and no one to talk to unless I don't mind the drugged people rambling on about their delusions. It's hard to stay socialized enough to sound like I'm housed and not slip up and give it away that I'm homeless. People see me and they know. They offer me food I didn't ask for as proof that they know. I have paid taxes all my life, I have worked since I was 16. I raised babies as a single mom and child support was scarce so saving was a fantasy. We homeless have a bad reputation due to some of us. Not all of us are lazy on drugs and just want the world to take care of us.
No services are offered ....21 million a mo. From dispensary tax money not helping homeless. Just rich getting richer. Homelessness would be gone if people would just take care of their families.

Yes they are. They are veterans, go introduce yourself. I have. Several are nice people who are not able to get hired. They are scared, lonely, and exhausted. Many have given up and are on drugs. Be careful and don't bring valuable things with you.
Many of them can form a better sentence. Also, is it really logical that they would spend money to travel from all over the country to come bake in the desert?

2020s has BIDENVILLES.

How far out in outer space are you to make a statement like that? You're a Harvard University graduate?
Give them a piece of desert. Give them sanitation, sewer and water. They’ll figure it out. They figured it out and slab city.

Then they just say part of this land belongs to the military
They can't survive outside of the city, unless you have food pantries out there too
Get a job Eric!!

They get hand outs. They sell things they steal. They find ways but it's never enough to pay a bill or make a life that's worth living
