    Hi!
I needed a short sata cable for my upcoming project i am working on.
I needed a sata combo cable for a hot-swap bay, but there were no available with short enough cables, so i decided to make one myself!
And i always wondered how hard would it be to shorten these data cables yourself...
And oh boy it was! Wires are small and spaces between them are tiny! And i have really shaky hands! But it turned out acceptable, It works, and does not look all that bad.
Be careful while removing hot glue, you can easily damage connector pins or even pull them out (learned that the hard way). Take your time, remove it piece by piece.
And make sure there are no shorts between the pins!
There are connectors which you can take apart, makes the process a little easier.

My suggestion would be to over apply the hot glue, fit the housing over the top and then melt the glue again with hot air and squeeze the housing tight in a clamp of vice.

Everyone in the comments being haters, I understood it very clearly. I'm looking into making a modified Xbox One Original and was curious on your opinion if I could solder in an additional sata data cable to make a split.

Sorry for late reply, splitting one sata data cable/connector into 2 (connecting 2 drives to 1 data cable) isn't gonna work. You can only split sata power cables. Maybe you could try to use the dvd drive sata connector for a second hard drive and use external usb dvd drive and see if it works? Like some people do in laptops, it's called icybox i think. But i'm not certain if xbox will detect a second hard drive or an external dvd drive. Never had a console except an old Wii. Using external usb storage is an option but sata drive will be much faster.

You're good, we all have lives out here. Thanks for replying! I'll have to do some tinkering to see if it will actually take. I have about a thousand spare sata data cables laying around so, lol.🤣
