Well he's 10% closer since hitting the 100K. I believe with 100K Subscribers Dean's Channel is in the top 1%, top 0.1% or top 0.01% (can't remember how few reach the 100K number now) which makes this Channel a real gem.
In a world in which so many products are designed to be disposable and manufacturers are actively hostile to repair it brings me joy to see your work. Congratulations on 100k. Well deserved.
yea, it's a bit of a niche market market for middle aged guys (like most of us probably). But for some reason I also think it's tapping into the asmr part of youtube. Dean just has a relaxing voice to listing to 😀.
I wish hardware stores like his existed in the US. I've never come across a hardware store - big or small - where they chose the tools to stock based on how many problems they have. The Hardware store/Repair shop sounds like a dream combination 😌
@@kaydotz What's great is that Dean is sharing these top tool recommendations with the whole internet, completely unbiased to brands or whatever, just what machines work reliably, what lasts and what's repairable. No sales BS or gimmicks, just honest and very valuable advice.
Congratulations on the achievement Dean. It's the depths of the repairs in the commentary that make the videos compelling viewing. A few months ago I took an old 3 speed Dewalt drill into a DeWalt approved repairers, as I stripped it down as it only ran intermittently, but the gearbox came apart. I was undergoing Chemotherapy at the time and it affected my finger ends, had no proper feeling in them. Got a call the next day to say they couldn't rebuild it as DeWalt didn't show them how. I did it myself watching a video here on RUclips. Can't remember how many times it came apart before I finally got it together. Turned out the reason it kept stopping was because one brush had worn away. Changed them and it's been running great ever since. What always impresses me is how you remember which screws go where when rebuilding.
Businesses like your boss is running here are extremely rare in North America now, except in small towns. I hope Ireland can hold on to these gems for longer than the rest of us.
You can find places like this dotted around the uk and the rest of Europe. In the US the American power tool brands give you longer warranties than the UK gets, probably why these places are still used a lot in Europe compared to America. I live in a big city in the UK and we have a few of these types of shops, tool sharpening ones too that sell all that type of things. Most people prefer to use them and have the tool repaired and back to you within a day or 2, rather than send it away to milwaukee etc and wait 2 weeks plus.
Congratulations on the 100k well deserved I’ve learned a load from ur content and helped me keep my own tools going. Are you going to use the new mask to fix up the ventilation holes in the Bk of your container all the best

New sub here. [EDIT- Thank you for the words on the HIKOKI nailer- I bought a metabo HPT last year. Its a bit heavy, I guess but has worked for my needs. ]So many things to say. So much respect to everyone involved. I thought that those that went through the American depression saved everything. Thats #1, #2 I despise technicians of any type who charge a premium for hours of labor plus a giant markup on parts they simply order and have delivered. This channel obviously charges for what they do and since they stock all these parts, deserve to charge fairly for carrying the inventory. #3 I turned on closed captioning, it did fairly well translating the irish accent to american english! Thank You!
Congratulations Dean, I'm a Carpenter myself for 30 years and love all types of tools, I would sit and watch your videos all day long if I could, I recently did a repair on my dewalt dcn 692 nail gun based on watching your video's and got it working good again, your videos are pure genuine and thats what I love about them, keep them coming Dean
Congrats! I really appreciate your channel. You've helped me fix a few things. You should be a tool consultant for the big brands. I know things are designed to fail but I'd buy anything that said 'Dean approved'. You know the weak points and what makes a tool repairable and non-repairable. Any brand that still prides themselves on durability and longevity should send you their prototype schematics and have you refine it. Switch out plastic for metal, ease of repair recommendations, etc. Keep it up sir!
@@deandohertygreaser It definitely wouldn't be easy. You'd have to be proactive and reach out to the companies. I bet that at least one would bite. Someone somewhere must still recognize the value of a quality tool. Worth a shot. Even at 30 I'm already pretty beat up from construction so my goal to potentially retire someday will be simple quality of life improvements made to certain tools that already exist. I would lean more towards hand tools and power tool accessories but it's on my list. I'm sure you could probably do the same but even better just based on requests or mods you've seen over the years.

Watching this video my OCD was edging all the time, even in the store sooo completely different than in 99.999% of the hardware stores I'm used to frequent. But as long as you and the Boss are able to find/recommend the right tools for the customers and/or sort the parts to do the much appreciated repairs -- while you both are on the forefront of making the customers happy and returning, and the viewers and contributors more than pleased -- I guess that's how it's going to be ... Dean, congrats to both you and the Boss.

Its great to see a highly honest repairman. There is too much greed and dishonesty in the world so many people appreciate your attitude. Now it would be fun to put all those NOS (old) parts on eBay, that are unlikely to be used in your shop. Can you imagine how happy people would be to find parts that can't be purchased now?
Can I suggest selling the old stock parts on eBay for other people who may need to fix their machines rather than wasting them to the metal scrapper. I would think some of it would be useful for someone, somewhere around the world, maybe not sell immediately but what do you have to lose by listing it all for sale besides your time. Idk just an idea for you to find them a home somewhere. There's gotta be something up there that's valuable to someone that's got an old tool that needs or could be fixed. Maybe I'm completely wrong though too!? 😂😂👌🏻👍🏻🛠️🔧🔩🔌🔋⚡⚠️🤷🏻♂️🧰
