- I spent three days (with almost no sleep) in front of my computer to make this - I hope you like it :D
When I first heard of the sea shanty phenomenon on Tik Tok I knew that this could be arranged to be even more "epic" - I could hear it so clearly in my head!
Edit: My first video to reach 1 mill O.o

I'm picturing an unusually large pirate ship which seizes a ship which happens to be carrying a symphony orchestra. The captain decides to take the entire orchestra and sets aside part of the deck for them to perform. He requires them to entertain the crew while they sail, and even to play with insane ferocity during pursuits. Merchant ships learn to live in terror of the sound of strings and percussion....
That sounds brutal

The original wellerman is like a group of bored pirates chilling and singing. While this is a bunch of pirates in a savage war invading a land

Actually it's a bunch of whale hunters
IMO there way better shanties kinda sad that the trend just stops with Wellerman instead of "discovering" other shanties and old songs like Randy Dandy O, Leave Her Johnny, Rolling Down to Old Maui or Here's a Health to the Company and Star of the County Down

When I first listened to the Wellerman shanty, I loved it. But when TikTok adverts constantly bombarded me with it's opening verse every time I clicked on a video, I started to hate it.
This cover, however, is brilliant

Damn! I find it fascinating that an ordinary sea shanty can become kinda phenomenon in 2020 and can inspire people to create more beautiful things. Just like this one. Sounds amazing and I can't help imagining how it would sound with a real orchestra, with its volume and power of real instruments OMG After "Drunken Whaler" by Copilot and by the Hit House I think it would be my fav epic shanty. Aye! 32 hours was definetely worth it! And ofcourse this Skull&Bones artwork adds some atmosphere to the track.
A real orchestra is the dream - it's one of my lifegoals to have my music played by a real (and really big) orchestra :3
I like this one because it feels slower paced, the others were more like raps, I like shanties because they are slow and put a certain feeling on your mind. I just don’t really like raps.
Wellerman is not a shanty though.

@@L490sr I'm not a music expert so take what I say with a grain of salt, but i believe those two are traditional sea shanties, because they follow the call and response pattern of work songs. Traditional in the sense they follow the pattern that is, don't know how traditional they are.

I don't like it because it took what was great about the original - the beautiful a Capella voices- and decided it wasn't enough. There is a beautiful, haunting quality from the original- this version ruins it.

@@SeanSecret Haha! Yeah, that's cool. I used to write orchestral music and put it on RUclips, before I started my singing channel. Composing and arranging...and then sound production takes forever! What libraries are you using?

For orchestral stuff I use Native instruments Symphony series stuff. Lots of NI kontakt stuff actually mixed with real guitar and other instruments. Also have some custom kontakt instruments I made myself which I use sometimes. Also have some rack synths I try to use more
